Well as luck would have it I bought the GE 100% Silicone Sealant. I have 2 experiments curing. One with an atomizer pluged into the 1/2 cart and a metal rod pushed up from the mouthpiece side of the cart making a channel to the atty. Another just plugged into the end of a cart. I'll let you know the outcome. Scottyballs, how long did you have to wait for the stuff to get firm?

The cure rate is going to be a function of the humidity. In a dry environment the stuff can take forever to cure.

I made one of these yesterday morning after finding this thread.
I cut a small slice down the middle and cut a small rectangle shape out of the center, 1mm by 2mm or so.

Its been on my 510 atty since. Had it laying on my desk, sitting cart upright in my shirt pocket and left it attached over night. Didn't have a single leak, atty didn't flood and consistent vape.

I have an idea. I took a straw, the largest I could find that would easily fit, and cut it so that when placed all the way down a cart it is about 2mm from the top. I plugged one end with silicone and also ran some around the outside of the top of the straw at the same end as the plug. When dry I'm going to cut an x into the plug. With the silicone around the outside of the straw it should plug perfectly when inserted into the cart. We'll see. That's experiment #3.

OK Scottbee!! I think you are on to somthing the molded plug looks good other then being silicone calk and not being able to vape it.. heres a run down with pictures..

Let the silicone cure for a bit and placed a peice of sandwich bag sprayed with cooking spray over the top

Stamp the atty down over the mold and pulled it off and let it dry..

after drying I pushed it out.. came out easy..

If you core out the middle of this experiment (using the silicone, not the caulking) then you would have your support (ie, you could remove the straw) as it should rest down onto the ledges, then you wouldn't even have to risk an atty by making the depression, because you could cut the X a little bigger, allowing the room for the atty to push up...god I hope I was able to translate my brain onto here well enough...

Okay, think about it this way...imagine if the cap that came on it was able to tightly fit INSIDE the cart, not on the outside of it...

The problem is that those so called ledges are really very small and angled downwards. I'll try it and see.

I love this mod. Only been vaping a short time. I had tried the ADM mod, straw/plug and the PTB (normal and double fold/frayed end). ADM worked the best of those, but I hated touching the polyfill "plug". E-juice just feels nasty on my fingers. =)
Saw this earlier this morning and gave it a shot. First attempt didn't work so well because I cut too much off one of the "corners". Leaked too much and I got a mouthful of coffee juice. Not tasty at all. Got it right on the 2nd try and made a 3rd to have two carts working. Great flavor, no leaks (that I can see yet) and consistent vapor. I can actually taste the flavor of the juices now!! Refilling is easy too. Just pop the plug onto a paper towel, fill and replace the plug. Excellent!
I also noticed that I can take many more hits before my atty gets hot.
Want to try the molded RTV plug later for kicks, but I am waiting on some blank carts.

Speaking of dorks, I may be the biggest one here.

I've tried 3 times and I cannot get this to work. 15mm straw, 17mm straw... + cut into the center, etc. Either I get no juice at all (my throat burns from all the dry hits) or a total flood. I cannot imagine what I'm doing wrong.

I followed the instructions to the letter...

When cutting the plug out of the cap, try following along the OUTSIDE edge of the cart and angle your knife tip slightly inward. That will make the top of the plug wider than the bottom and form more of a rubber stopper shape like this \_/. Make sure your atty bridge is actually centered - sometimes they get pushed to one side. And cut the X smaller and just keep enlarging it until it get to the right flow size for you. Also, I recommend the vent notches on the bottom of the straw. Your X might be big enough, but the liquid is being held by air pressure in the cart.

OK, I think I follow. How does this go into the cart now and where is the hole? How thick is the plug? Is this pic looking at it from the atty side? Is the material thinner in the center, where you pressed the atty into it and now you just cut an X in the center?

It's funny how the simplest methods usually end up being the best. First of all, it takes forever for this stuff (silicone sealer) to cure. I'm not a patient man!! Well the 1st elaborate experiment with the atomizer stuck in failed. I won't go into details but it has something to do with my patience. What IS working great is just filling the end of a cart with the stuff and when it's cured enough, just using a small blade to work it out. What you end up with is a perfectly fitting plug! I'll have to let it cure more, like overnight at this rate, but I think I'll end up with a plug that will be easy to remove and replace. We'll see.

This is the first mod I've gotten really excited about because I've seen mention of it working on an 801.

Do you think I could use this with just 4 or 5 drops in the cart to simulate dripping, or would that cause problems in some way? I'm paranoid about losing a battery and my manual 510 won't be here for another week or so.

Wow!!! Victory at last. After several attempts, using many different silicone types, i.e. spatula (most were too thick) went back to a cap and finally got it right. So far no drips and no flooding vaping very well. I must say all of the inventive mods here are fantastic and I thank each and everyone of you for your contributions. I have no creativity or mechanical ability so I really appreciate your efforts. Scottyballs, Kristen, Eclipse and every other modder THANK YOU

Try kwcharlie's method. Cut the slits before you cut the plug off - that will hold it steady for you, since it's so small. Can you post a pic of your cart, from the top view? If we could see it, we may be able to come up with a workaround for you.

Hey, everybody. Sorry I couldn't come out and play. I've got a head cold and even left work early to take a nap in my office at home. Hope this make sense to you. First off, "We're becoming dentists......" is pretty damn funny. Made me think of Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer.

Okay, so I loved Kristin's idea of capping the straw. It would be easy to pull in and out. Second, the cup cake cups are made of silicone and about the same thickness as a cart cap. Third, I made a right mess of trying to do it the original way. The thing is I just can not cut a cap that's the right dimensions to create the proper seal. However, I can cut a pretty straight line. So, ready for my take on this?

First, get rid of the straw. Second, cut a rectangle instead of an oval.

Sorry I don't have any exact measurements for you. But you cut a strip equal to the width (skinny side) of the cart opening. When you bend it and put it in place the edges grip the walls of the cart forming a perfect seal. The bend also flexes in and out as the atomizer pushes into the hole or slit or X at the top. Shouldn't leak, should be easy to take in and out, and it would require no straw. You're using those little ledges for support. Also the silicone pushing outward should also help to seal it.

Can't say much more than that. It's a pretty simple take on the original. I really butchered that cap trying to make it the original way.

I went today and bought some silcone ear plugs to make my 801 filler mod. So far it is working perfect. Just take the ear plug lay in on the cart and mold it. Cut with my hand and make a hole with my Eco liquid bottle from litecig and done. Nice seal. Take the dip of the bottle and make hole.
