I keep my 510 vertical in my pocket all day (pen clip). So that's really the acid test for me. For a cart mod to "work" for me, it can't flood the atty.. even if it is left vertical (cartridge up) for hours on end.

BTW.... I've carried a Cross pen for many, many years. The tip was just about perfect for punching the hole in the membrane. I was able to view the membrane stretching over the bridge and the hole sitting on the tip of the bridge via the opening in the mouthpiece end of my experimental cart. Yeah... shoulda taken a picture.

When I'm not using my 510 I keep it vertical in a half glass so it doesn't leak. Since I do this with most of my other e-cigs it really isn't an issue for me. Otherwise I remove the cart and cap it off until I'm ready to use it again. I made the hole a bit big so I could get enough vapor for it to give a monster vape, but not flood. It's a 1-1.5mm width and 3 mm length. Works perfect for my flat tip cart.

If thats what you think then tell me how many times a week you NEED to clean your attys??

Mine dont leak. Infact i have my Protege and other mods (BSB/Xhaler) standing all the time and the juice dont leak to the atty.. if they did, i'd know on the first hit as they would be clogged.

Sure i can make a little too small plug out of my blue foam like when i first started making them as they had a slow leak and i thought they were working perfect.. Before the night was through i had to clean the atty as it was clogged from runing way to rich.. i didint know back then to make sure to blow out the 2 holes at the bottom of the atty. So much juice ove rthe night that they were clogged pretty good and the draw was like trying to suck cold milkshake threw a straw.

Blahh blahh we all know your using the @#$% out of this mod right now and love it to death its ok if you want to come out of the closet..

Speaking of dorks, I may be the biggest one here.

I've tried 3 times and I cannot get this to work. 15mm straw, 17mm straw... + cut into the center, etc. Either I get no juice at all (my throat burns from all the dry hits) or a total flood. I cannot imagine what I'm doing wrong.

I followed the instructions to the letter... :-x

Like I said in my earlier post:

You can pull the cart off (if you don't like the flavor) and toss it on your passenger car seat and it won't leak (unlike any other mods and stock carts I've tried).

But... this mod doesn't work (for me) on my small 401's. For that I use the straw/scotch-brite combo, or a blue foam plug.

Both of those need a tap now and then to keep the juice flowing. If I cut down on the blue foam or other filler any more than I have, it leaks all over the place. Though, I'm a light vaper so the juice is in my carts a longer time than most.

Oh, and I always clean all of the atty's, used carts, PCC's and batteries that I use during the week every Friday while watching the tube.

I don't like flavors, germs or crap like that to buildup.

I wasn't saying your mod is no longer useful. I was just remarking that this is not even remotely the shower head as you were suggesting.

The thinking and execution of this mod is sound.

KIDDDING! It took me the 1st try. And the second, and both were not even close to perfect, but they worked as proof of concept. (REAL, REAL SLOW LEAKERS.)

if your using the X cut then the only way it can really leak is if the corners are lifting up folding in on itself when the bridge hits the center... make sure the plug is tight...

cut cart in half filled with stuff

FYI: Opinions vary regarding silicone RTV... but for the most part my favorite stuff to work with is GE Silicone II.... 100% silicone rubber (clear).

RTV is just to bad ... for vaping, Im sure that stuff has cryptonite in it Im just going to try 100% clear silicone rubber when I get off the counch and go to lowes..

Btw it dose look like a tooth lol..

I have a question.. what's the purpose of the straw inside the cart? Is it to keep the plug from going down to far? If so... would the paperclip work better by taking up less juice space?

yes it is to stop the plug from going down.. I think a paper clip would allow the plug to rock around to much... it really needs support going around the cart..
