THC x MIKE VAPES BLAZE SOLO RDA review by hittman

Hello and welcome. Today I will be taking a look at the Thunderhead Creations x Mike Vapes Blaze Solo RDA that was sent to me by Sourcemore in order to provide you with a fair and honest review. The Blaze Solo is 24mm in diameter and has a 2ml liquid capacity. This is really a good capacity but I always install the bottom feed pin and use rdas on squonk mods myself. The build deck for the Solo is postless and has 315 degree angled down honeycomb airflow. There are 43 honeycomb airflow holes on this one to provide the best flavor possible from this rda.

The packaging for the Blaze Solo is of the type that I like with the clear viewing window on the front of the package. Just like the other THC products I’ve tested there is quite a bit of writing/branding on the box. Of course there is the THC logo and Mike Vapes name on the front since it was a collaboration. There is also a sticker on the front stating that it was vote as the best single coil rta by a FB group. Just like the front, the back side is covered in branding along with a short contents list and the THC website.

Once the box top is lifted then the Solo rda is better visible. I received the gunmetal version which is dark enough that initially I thought I had received the black version. Initially you get a look at the rda and the coil cutting tool sitting above it in the insert. Below that is the user manual, warranty card, two allen wrenches, extra grub screws, bf squonk pin, spare o rings, two coils, and one cotton thread. I’m a little surprised there were two coils and only one cotton thread.

1674422892481.png

Like any tank or rda, first thing you want to go is to clean the tank. This one only breaks down into three pieces which are the drip tip, outer chamber, and the base/build deck. I’ve notice after past experience with THC tanks that they tend to include drip tips that are a little nicer than what are included in most tanks.

The Solo has a 24mm base with a height of 29.5mm. The Blaze name is formed into the outside of the chamber in a nice font. The bottom of the base has the THC logo and name as well as Mike Vapes name engraved on it, It also has a serial number on it. You can see in the second and third pictures below that the 510 center pin protrudes quite a bit. The Solo uses two cyclops type slots to provide the airflow into the tank. The airflow comes in through those two slots that can be adjusted by turning the chamber. Once the air comes in then it is angled down before going up through the 315 degree honeycomb airflow that is provided through 43 holes to come around the coil before coming up through the drip tip. This system provides superior flavor production.

The inside of the chamber has two tabs that are used to lock in and adjust the airflow on the Solo. There is a positive stop when fully open or closed. This works in conjunction with the design of the shape of the deck. The two raised edges of the deck align with the slots in the inside of the chamber.

1674423077089.png

1674423097061.png

As I mentioned earlier, the deck has 43 airflow holes to provide a 315 degree surrounding airflow. It is being called the “Victory” build deck. The outer chamber is sealed once placed onto the deck with two o rings keeping any leaking from happening.

SuhpWnV.jpg

I like when an rda or rta has a coil cutting guide tool included. They usually have an arrow marked on the side to let you know the right length to cut the coil legs. It was a good thing that this one had that because I very likely would have cut the legs too short on my first attempt. The cutting guide did have the 8mm slot marked so I went ahead and cut them to that length despite thinking to myself that it seemed too long. Well it wasn’t and was actually a perfect fit.

The deck screws have an allen type head and there is an allen wrench included for them as well as a second allen wrench that can be used to switch out the standard 510 center pin for the bottom feed pin. There are four coil openings and screws so you can insert a coil no matter which way it is wound.

I used one of the included three core Clapton coils and once the coil was inserted then I did a burn in to make sure it was heating evenly. After the coil is burned in then it can be wicked once the coil is cool enough. On this one you need to cut the wick quite long because it has a deep juice well that holds 2ml of liquid.

I don’t really know why it was done like this but think it’s interesting how the liquid comes in high through the top and then angles down to the side slot. When using the bottom feed pin then it works much like you would think and flows over to the side slot.

FINAL THOUGHTS:

When I see Mike Vapes name on a tank or rda then I expect a certain level of quality. This isn’t his first collaboration with THC and I have previously reviewed the Blaze RTA which was a dual coil rta. I was not disappointed with the Blaze Solo.

The 315 degree airflow produced very good flavor. I was able to run one of the included coils at 40 watts with the airflow at about 1/3 open and got a very dense and flavorful vapor. The 2ml liquid capacity allows the user to drip or squonk less often despite which type of operation you prefer.

Due to the surrounding deck design it is slightly tricky to get the coil installed but with the coil legs cut to 8mm it makes it a little easier. I found that it wasn’t bad if I got one leg in first and then inserted the second leg instead of trying to insert both at once. With the deeper juice well you do want to cut the wick rather long in order to reach to the bottom of the well.

If you decide to order one of these then you may want to pay attention to which one you order since some have outer chambers made of aluminum instead of stainless steel. I personally prefer stainless steel for tanks and rdas. There is also a glass chamber available for purchase separately if you like things like that.

I think it’s pretty obvious that I would definitely recommend this rda for you. It’s another well-made rda by THC and Mike Vapes. I would like to thank Sourcemore and Kavis for sending the Blaze Solo RDA for this review. Thanks again to the readers that take the time to read my reviews. Below is a link to the website if you’d like to get one for yourself.

Non clicky silent fire button mods?

In my quest to find one of these the closest i came was the hellvape arez 120, fire button is silent but half the time it doesnt fire or just cuts in and out (even on the new batch) or just turns off the device (old batch), i would prefer a single 21700 mod, the dna ones all seem to be clicky so stealth vaping is not an option, anyone have any suggestions, im slowly losing my mind here.

Hellvape Arez disassembly

According to this thread: Hellvape Arez, fix for faulty button

I have the same issue, while a replacement isnt an option (from EU so customs will intercept and destroy it, the vape shop i bought it from doesnt exist anymore) i would like to open it up and try the fix myself,

One issue is that after unscrewing, only the side of the screw part is budging at the top, the side of the screen doesnt move at all when pushing inside the battery compartment.

Even tried holding down the buttons but no luck, since i cant contact the OP i was wondering if anyone has some tips to get it open?

Edit; finally got it open, when removing the rubber part the fire button gets really loud and i cant stand loud clicky fire buttons, oof.

Delosi/Nicbase nicotine

I was a NN guy for years, so have been looking for similar or better nic recently. I ordered from Nicbase as it seemed to have a few decent reviews. The nicotine was clear, but had no throat hit at all. Almost made me wonder is there was actually nic in the bottle. Pretty dissapointed in that I like some throat hit and nicbase doesn't do it for me. Anyone else have similar experience with this nic?

New to UB PRO RBA Deck. Looking for Pre-built coil recommendations 0.2 or 0.3ohms?

So I had the UB PRO RBA deck for like 12 days now. I am looking for pre-built coil recommendations. Prefer 0.2 or 0.3ohm coils that are compatible with the UB PRO RBA deck.
I am pretty new to vaping but I understand that 0.2 and 0.3ohms produce most flavor so that's why I decided to go with that.

Hope I can get some recommendations for 0.2 or 0.3ohm coil that works with the UB PRO RBA.
Thank you

ECF Tutorial - Achievements, Leaderboards and XP

Some new and interesting add-ons were installed along with the August 2022 major Xenforo forum software upgrade. The ThemeHouse Achievements and Leaderboards are two new add-ons. They work hand-in-hand.

This tutorial will cover Achievements, Leaderboards and XP. Since the upgrade many members have asked about each.

If you look at "Your Profile" page you will see the following displayed, it shows your current XP, Achievements and Level.

Screen shot 2023-01-21 at 1.31.54 PM.png

What is XP?

XP = Experience Points.

Historically experience points (XP) originated with the old Dungeons & Dragons role playing game (RPG). Points were generally gained by defeating an enemy or when completing a task.

Over time several gaming and non-gaming forums have implemented XP.

On ECF XP is the number of points a user receives each time an achievement is earned and for other activities. A users XP represents their activity and contribution to the forum.

XP are acquired by members for contributing content to the forum. Some contributions earn higher XP numbers. Experience Points (XP) are also a way to playfully encourage members to contribute to the forum.

Here are a few examples: A member is awarded XP for actions they do on the forum. For each post a member creates they are awarded 5 XP. Starting a new thread earns 10 XP. Creating a Media post earns 5 XP. On and on it goes.

After reaching a certain amount of XP (experience points), a member is leveled up (ex: level 1 to level 2 etc.). As a member earns more, and more, XP they continue being leveled up. Someone who is at Level 77, for example, has made many contributions to the forum. Once at higher levels it becomes more difficult to attain the next higher level.

ECF is using the logarithmic leveling formula. This makes it so that over time, it becomes harder to achieve the next level the higher you are in the leveling system.

What are Achievements?

Every member who has logged into ECF since Xenforo 2.x went live on 24 August 2022 has received several achievement alerts. The system is configured to alert users of all earned achievements.

There are currently 83 achievements. All the achievements can be seen here:

Looking at the above linked page, you will see that when a new member completes the basic ECF registration process and adds an avatar they earn 10 and 15 XP respectively. They are awarded these two achievements.
Screen shot 2023-01-21 at 1.48.07 PM.png

As a new member does more they earn additional achievements and XP.

Browsing through the achievements you will note the number of XP earned once an achievement is awarded.

Some examples: When a member creates their first post they are awarded 20 XP and earn the Message Poster achievement. Creating 10 threads earns the Thread Poster: Level 2 achievement and 75 XP. Creating a post on any of the holidays earns that achievement and 20 XP. An Ultimate Achiever earns 5000 XP.

Some achievements are earned only once while others can be earned multiple times. Over time system administrators can add new achievements as desired.

The rarity of an achievement indicates how difficult it is to earn. There are 4 achievement rarities. Lowest to highest: Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum.

At the top of the Achievements page you will see your ECF overview.

Screen shot 2023-01-21 at 1.50.59 PM.png

The overview displays your current level, total XP, achievements, how much XP is needed to reach the next level and the number of rarity achievements you have earned. Additionally you can choose to "Show all" 83 achievements or "Show earned".

If you do not want to receive Achievements notifications you can turn them off. Simply click on the bell icon for each achievement to silence them.

Screen shot 2023-01-21 at 2.00.30 PM.png

Displayed next to each achievement is the number of members who have earned that achievement. In the following example, there are currently 73 members using the Bookmarks feature.

Screen shot 2023-01-21 at 2.03.19 PM.png

You can also see the achievements you have earned by clicking on the Achievements tab on "Your Profile" page.

Achievements can be added to your user information that is displayed when you post on the forum. See below my avatar for some examples. You will see three achievement icons. Hovering over an icon displays which achievement it is.

To add an achievement click on "Change achievements". You can select up to three achievements to be displayed. Those can be changed at any time. You can also deselect achievements so none are displayed. By default no achievements are displayed.

What is the Leaderboards?

ECF's Leaderboards page displays user information for Posts, Threads, Achievements, XP and Media.

A user can look at information for the current week or view any of the four previous weeks, display the current month or view any of the last four months.

• Posts displays the number of posts a member created (weekly/monthly)
• Threads shows the number of threads a user created (weekly/monthly)
• Achievements displays how many were earned by each member (weekly/monthly)
• XP shows the number of experience points awarded to a user (weekly/monthly)
• Media displays how many media items a member uploaded to the ECF Media page (weekly/monthly)

A quick note on Media: Historically members have posted photos of their vape gear. Some members have posted photos of their gardens or their pets. Any member can post media to the ECF Media page. It is very easy to do.

At the end of each week, month and year the members who rank 1-3 in each leaderboards category are notified via an alert.

The member who gets the #1 spot can earn one, or more, of the following achievements and XP:

• Rank 1 (1000 XP)
• Top Rank: Weekly (75 XP)
• Top Rank: Monthly (250 XP)
• Top Rank: Yearly (750 XP)

Those are some of the achievements that can be earned over and over again.

What does any of that do for me?

That all depends on what each individual member desires. Some will enjoy and embrace the enhanced user forum experience. Others may not care at all.

Users who desire an enriched forum experience, or those who are members on other forums using the same, or similar, add-ons will immediately recognize the value these add-ons bring to to ECF.

Some members have broached the subject of ECF seeing less activity. As I see it, and perhaps as ECF senior management sees it, add-ons like these can help to boost ECF user activity. That is something all members should desire.

How long and how to properly dry burn coils what wattage to use? New to RBA (HELP)

I am having some weird issue. I am not sure how long to dry burn coils for and what wattage to use to dry burn on my RBA PRO Deck. The first coil build with 0.3ohm coil was very flavorful and sweet tasting (Ejuice) but the second and the third coil build don't taste anything like the first "Magical" built I made.
This is really first time owning an RBA deck. I am not sure if I am dry burning too long but the last 2 coil builds using the same exact coils and same exact cotton with same juice just taste nasty.

Is there something I am doing wrong?

SMT's Macadamia Nut Chocolate Chip Cheesecake Bars

ccchskbr1kR12.jpg

Macadamia Nut Chocolate Chip Cheesecake Bars

FA Cheesecake Olympus 2.5%
WF Vanilla Cream Extra 1.25%
FW White Cake 2%
FA Graham Crust 1.5%
VTA Dark Chocolate 1.5%
VTA Macadamia Nut 2%

Suggested steep time = 4 weeks. Bakery and cream flavors dictate the steep time.

This one is a variation of the cheesecake recipe I posted earlier today. It's also another collaboration with my daughter.

For this one we decided on chocolate chip cheesecake bars with a nutty note. VTA Macadamia Nut fit the bill. It lends a nice mellow macadamia note to the mix. VTA MN is not a strong in-your-face nut. Knowing that I wasn't hesitant to use it at 2%. It adds a pleasing nutty note but not one that screams "NUTS".

The same notes from the cheesecake recipe I posted earlier apply to FA Cheesecake Olympus and WF Vanilla Cream Extra in this mix.

We bumped the dark chocolate up to 1.5% for more of that semi-sweet chocolate chip flavor. VTA Dark Chocolate could be pushed to 2% if more chocolate flavor is desired. Alternatively, one of the other VTA chocolate flavors would work up to 2%.

FW White Cake and FA Graham Crust create the overall thicker crust cheesecake bars are noted for.

Adding a fruit ---> the same notes apply from our other cheesecake recipe (posted earlier today).

SMT's Chocolate Swirl Greek Cheesecake

R151432-1-99397b16b1e84581a1860b742f76722dA.jpg

Chocolate Swirl Greek Cheesecake

FA Cheesecake Olympus 2.5%
WF Vanilla Cream Extra 1.25%
FW White Cake 2.5%
FA Graham Crust 1.5%
WF Crumble Topping 1%
VTA Dark Chocolate 1.25%

Suggested steep time = 4 weeks. Bakery and cream flavors dictate the steep time.

Usually, the flavor profile of cheesecakes lies in between sweet and sour. Some New York cheesecakes use sour cream in the recipe. This adds an extra sour flavor to the pastry. I did not want that sour note in mine.

For my recipe I wanted a cheesecake that came closest to a sweeter tasting Greek cheesecake. I wanted the cheesecake note to be more mellow and milder. That's where FA Cheesecake Olympus comes into play. I had a conversation with Flavour Art Italy and learned the cheese note in FA CO closely resembles that of a Greek glykia myzithra (sweet myzithra). Myzithra cheese is rich with a silky creaminess and a fairly light tangy note.

I am very impressed with FA Cheesecake Olympus. It's an excellent cheesecake flavor with no off notes. I felt it needed to be paired with another cream. WF VCE was the perfect choice. Together they make a pleasing cheesecake. WF VCE adds a vanilla note found in a classic Greek cheesecake.

FW White Cake adds a slight cakey texture to my cheesecake. FA Graham Crust combined with WF Crumble Topping make a wonderful crust.

For the chocolate swirl I chose VTA Dark Chocolate. I wanted a light tasting chocolate swirl, one that would not change my cheesecake into an all out chocolate cheesecake. 1.25% VTA DC worked perfectly for the swirl. WF VCE helps in making the chocolate note something less than a straight-up dark chocolate.

When vaping this mix the creamy cheesecake is out front followed by the cakey crust. The chocolate swirl is experienced on the backside. It's tasty.

A fruit (or two) could be added to the recipe without mucking up the mix. A blueberry, raspberry or strawberry. Or even tropical fruits... like a banana, kiwi, mango, orange, pineapple etc. I would suggest going with a light touch percentage-wise. Doing so will leave the cheesecake as intended without drowning it out.

Any of the above fruits will work nicely with chocolate. Drop VTA Dark Chocolate for a blank cheesecake canvas with which to add other desired flavors.

ETA: Ooooops!!! Forgot to give credit to my youngest daughter. This was a collaboration. She took the lead. Kiddo is getting good with DIY.

1st day vaping to quit cigarettes

Hey all
I bought my 1st vape kit today hoping to quit/reduce/transition from smoking 20-30 cigs a day.

My first impression is this is my most likely way to succeed but I’m not yet convinced. I get that it’s never going to be the same as smoking a cigarette but I sometimes feel like I still need a smoke after a few puffs of the vape.

I’m not sure whether it’s the e-juice flavor or my vaping method but it’s not enough to feel like a cigarette replacement yet. Would love to hear from others who felt the same

I’m 52 years old. Regular smoker from my early teens. Full time 20+ ciggies a day from late teens. Changing this long term habit has become a health priority

Nicotine patches and gum etc have never appealed to me as my enjoyment comes more from the physical and psychological “act” of smoking rather than a nicotine addiction.

Need Help for Round Wire Build on a Orbit Mission xv RBA.

Does anyone know what is the perfect wire gage, wrap count and inner diameter for a Mission XV Orbit RBA? Mainly I'm after battery longevity and maximum flavor. Will most likely go with round wire since it will be cheaper. I'll be going through builds pretty quickly due to the Dessert flavors I really love.

Any help would be really appreciated.
Thanks.

Getting wire (Central Europe), specifically Titanium

I've been somewhat out of the loop and was very unpleasantly surprised to notice that fasttech is no more. I did find a thread with about 5 alternatives, but they weren't all that great, particularly because I have yet to to find a site that ships Titanium wire. I don't want anything "fancy" (Clapton and whatever else people like to use. I just want plain wire). Reason for my 'obsession' is that I'm a big fan of Temperature Control, and I don't wanna use Ni200 anymore (some of my mods struggle with these low resistances, plus there's the thing that it can be harmful above certain temps), and other than SS316, I think there's only TI. So, fellow TC vapers, do you know of a shop who ships this type of wire to Europe?

The BPMods Lightsaber - Well, this is interesting...

The Lightsaber from BPMods is basically an AIO, however, it's an AIO with some very interesting design ideas surrounding it. The BPMods Lightsaber at its basics is an AIO/POD style kit with a DTL and MTL slant on the way it works.
