I'll never use nickel; I read someplace that it can cause nausea, which is A Fate Worse Than Death -- anything that even MIGHT POSSIBLY cause nausea, I want no part of, EVER.

And I'd love an SX Mini, but I'm not rich, and haven't won the lottery. I'm most likely going to get the Evic-VT -- and at $50, is still more than I've paid yet for any other mod. I'm hoping the price might drop a bit more, before I'm ready to order.

Andria
I suppose it could if you are sensitive to nickel. Myself I'm a pretty heavy vaper maybe 12 or so ml a day only 2mg of nic and never noticed anything and all I use is nickel right now.

Hey QM do you use the upgrade all the time with Ti. I remember you saying you have to go to 480 and how many J do you have to use. Also does the upgrade do away with your memory settings for power not that I ever use them. Do you have separate memory spots for the Ti or do you just have the same ones as with the nickel. In other words 5 settings for power 5 for Joules in standard mode and 5 for eco mode? Or does it give you 10 more for Ti standard and eco 5 each?

Well, it's possible it wouldn't do that... but nausea isn't anything I ever want to gamble about -- when the idiots at the B&M recommended me 18mg and it made me sick as a goat, then 12mg did the same, it nearly cured me of vaping forever. Fortunately I persevered and got some 6mg so I could start vaping regularly, and now vape at 9 or 10mg.

As I said... if there's even a SLIGHT chance that it COULD POSSIBLY cause nausea, I want no part of it, EVER. When I was in the ER with appendicitis and the pain was about to kill me, I made them give me the morphine half at a time, to make sure it wouldn't make me nauseous.

Costume jewelry, which generally contains some nickel, and 10k gold, alloyed with nickel, turns my skin black as pitch -- if that's not a sign of sensitivity, I don't know what would be. Nickel is one of the most allergenic substances to humans in common use.

Yeah I have read that some people are very sensitive to nickel luckily I'm not one. I saw an ad for Ti that said for people who have nickel sensitivity. I know someone else on another thread that breaks out in hives when she wears jewlery that has nickel in it. She definately won't try it either. I take it you weren't a heavy smoker. I started out with 35mg. God if I did that now I'd pass out. I didn't use that strength for long but I was a pack and a half to 2 pack a day smoker. I went down to 24 pretty fast. Then when I had to have open heart surgery I worked my way down pretty fast I just didn't like 0 mg to me it didn't have the flavor I wanted.

Sitting down, facing forward.
Andria, I switched to titanium because I could taste nickel and it never went away, even after a few tanks full. Your skin discoloration is more an indicator of the Ph level of your skin oils and perspiration than anything else, so it's entirely possible nickel would not cause any reactions for you. I've even heard of people who are allergic to nickel, in jewelry, but can vape on a nickel coil with no problems. Go figure. It's the "luck of the draw".

Yeah, if it was anything but nausea... literally anything else! I might give it a whirl... but not with a risk of nausea. :D I'll stick with titanium, but I'm sure as heck not buying any that costs $30 for 50ft! $10 for 50ft is already about twice the price of kanthal.

With the long life of titanium coils and the prevailing price of about $10/40 ft. you'll likely have a lifetime supply unless your under 15 years old. :)

What's amusing me is the gradual emergence of 'premium' Ti wire...Spider Silk, Ant Fart, Horse Jism...whatever which is just normal grade 1 Ti wire that has been cleaned a bit...ridiculous. Now we have the bs gr2 wire from whoever that is probably not really useable for TC vaping and costs an arm + leg. Funny really cos when I looked about four months ago, hardly anyone had heard of Ti wire as a vaping option..progress I guess?!?

Well thieves are, and have always been, ever present. Used car and vaping vendors are the same on the fringes.
The sad thing is that there will always be prey for them to feed on.

So very true. I guess the upside is that people are using Ti at least and that, I think, is a good thing!

And thinking that a few months ago people were like "huh, titanium? Are you serious? You're going to die man, stop it"

We're some kind of crazy pioneers. Lol

Speaking of which, where's Mr. Rossum? He was patient 0. [emoji14]

Well, I zipped a flame through a piece last night (Unkaman) and it was gold and blue with no gray or white so I used it. Much easier to work with.

Testing a 0.42ohm 28g build right now at 400° on the sx m class.

Roxy,

I have started always flaming my springy Ti and shoot for gold to blue. It is just too spring for me if I don't. By the way if you can find some Ti like Rio-Grande sells it is vacuum annealed and acid washed. So it is very malleable and clean as a whistle.

One comment I was using a Ti coil at around 0.3 ohms with my SX last night and I don't think the SX is fond of higher resistance coils. What I believe I experienced was as the SX battery charged reached the lower 1/3 of the battery bar it was not hitting as hard as normal. I put a new battery in and all was back to perfection vape wise. Anyway it got me to wondering if that is why YiHi recommends such low resistance as the optimum for their chip. :2c:

Have you downloaded the new firmware yet? The ti mapping changes things a lot.

When my battery gets low I start seeing a falloff in vapor as well.

Roxy, if you mean V2.23 "test" yes that is what I am using.

Well I am glad to hear that you experience the same drop of in vape as I do with a low battery. Sometime this quirky stuff make me doubt my sanity.
