I agree that the Best New For 2012 will be a challenge because most people won't know if it's new or not. I think it will make a lot of work for you guys to try to figure out if it actually IS a new juice in 2012. Why not just let people vote on whatever categories you come up with and then it will be easy enough to go down the list until you get to the highest rated one that was new in 2012.

or for best new vendor you can make a poll with all the new vendors and all we do is click on one we like.

We'll see what mwa thinks but I'm really thinking of going back to the one overall category with possibly a second category for best of 2012. I am definitely foreseeing much debating and bickering over juices/categories if we went in that direction. If we could use something like Survey Monkey it would make different categories much more viable, but I'm not going to put up money to use the service.

What might be cool is if we turn this thread into a crowd-source where everyone lists vendors/juices that they know are new to 2012, which could then be used as a reference for all of us to start ordering/trying these juices to actually make that category mean something. Just a thought.

Maybe I am just an uber geek, but I know what juices are new from this year from the vendors that I frequent often, and why would I vote for a juice that is not one I regularly purchase? :D

Ahh jeez, this is why multiple categories won't work on this forum :p Maybe I'm not understanding you correctly, but to elaborate: there would be two main categories: Best Overall, and Best of 2012. You wouldn't have to vote in both categories if you didn't want to. And the suggestion to list new vendors/juices here was just for the benefit of non-uber geeks. You could still vote for something that's not necessarily listed here.

But now you've almost convinced me to not even have a best of 2012.

I think simplicity would prevent most of the arguments as to what something should be categorized as...

Best Overall
Best New
Best Tobacco or Tobacco Blend
Best Non Tobacco

The only question I could see then would be what if one juice won multiple categories... how we would treat that since technically it could win 3 of those...

Maybe a heirarchy of Best Overall, followed by Best New, followed by the other two which are mutually exclusive.

If a juice was voted best overall, it would be redundant to call it the best new as well... same for if it was best overall to name it the best tobacco or non-tobacco would be redundant... the best overall in fact would have to win one other category.

I think simpler is best as in the above. But what do I know? I am the best newbie of the year. JK

First let me say that I greatly valued the voting last year, as I did discover a great vendor I had not ordered from before... even if the juice that the majority of people liked from them was not one of my favorites. This contest will be a ton of work for the people forced to peruse the thread, and tally and record the votes... so ultimately they should have the final say.

I too like the simplicity of the post quoted above... but it is not my poll and I am only offering my opinion to those that will actually have to make it work. Everyone should remember that when we suggest something, we are not the ones that have to actually make the suggestion work.

Okay I've got it! I've come up with a format which will be easily-understood by all and has little chance for frustration. So without further ado I give you:

ECF 2012 FAVORITE COLOR OF THE YEAR

Will it be blue this year? Orange? We shall see!!!!

I'll jump in!

My favorite color of the year is ......

GOLD!!!

Seriously, Sa Da Tay, if you do the thread, it's yours, and you can do whatever you like. :) We all have opinions and I'll re-express mine. Simple simple simple. E-liquid of the Year and/or New E-liquid of the Year.

However you do it, you'll do it well, and we will ALL enjoy it! This is for fun and info, right? Let's focus on the fun part and just have a good time! :D
