Hi Bj i bought a griffin (DID Clone) and just bought several in coop as well that we are in. ; )
Im curious what you cut your400 or 500 mesh size to before rolling it for the DID or something similar size wick hole.

Don't have my clones yet so don't know the wick hole size, I think emonty did a DID...

Thanks BJ .
Edit.
i have 1 clone from another vendor but still using the original stainless wick and i really like this rebuildable.
The wick hole im not sure the size but its a little bigger than the threaded ground hole .
I'll have to roll one eventually, i used to for my old scubagen but sold that one cause it was just to large for my needs.

Ob I'm totally going to tell everyone in the Zen thread you're hanging out here, tearing out insulators, talking electrical jive and pushing for definitions...

:p

Insulators are for little girls...but then again, so is using rolling paper...I'm off to buy a Hello Kitty skin for my cell phone now...

My mistake. Was it 3.5mm? Anyway I did get my 100mm wick working. Tighter than a mouses ear! I oxidized before I rolled. and after. This wick must hold 1.5 ml of juice! LOL

no diss to anyone else, but don't sleep on a burly floridian that tosses around lumbar like its pixie dust!

I fit about 110mm in my new DID today and there is still a bit of a center hole. I couldn't find a ruler so I used the 4x10 cm mesh Jim provides as a template.... I think 140 might be doable.
I've been using 6 wraps of 30 kanthal A for about 1.8 Ohms. This is working really nicely, though next coil I want to get one more wrap to max out my watt limit on the Buzz Pro I'm using. I'll probably have to buy a high amp mod to run these things eventually.

BJ43 Safety is always of the highest concern,,, but most all people are using AW, Panasonic, MNKE Batts IMR Batts, with the highest of C Ratings with LR, if not there just plain stupid, and IMR Batteries dont explode, they only heat up and can expand a bit from gases, They Dont Explode when shorted. Here is an AW IMR being dead shorted for almost 14 consecutive minutes. Anything is always possible but IMR's dont explode. Obviously that guy was not using an IMR Battery as well and that sucks for him... Everyone should be fully educated on Battery safety who is using ANY Mod, if not they are risking there life. Anyone not using an IMR to vape a Genesis Atty shouldn't be using a Genesis Atty either as well as a Mod that is well vented and also should have over and under and short protection on a regulated Mod.

Anyone NOT using one of these 3 Batteries manufactured IMR'S is foolish too,

Hard to believe but I only have four 14500 batts the ones with flames for a batt/pt mod I never use and two 18600 batteries that came with my regular lavatube. I probably vape on batteries a couple of hours a month the rest is PT. I do have about 20 large lipo packs for my RC hobby and all my experience is with those and have seen them explode. I know you have tested many batts, as a while back read some of your threads on them. So my vaping batts are getting old and are probably junk anyway. Give me a link to what and where I should buy for those two sizes. Not looking for cheap. Thanks

PS: Preferably that they can handle at least 5 amps.

I agree completely with mwa, but so many are getting into vaping and rba that may not know the risk of over discharging and C rating I just had to put the warning out there, like me giving one of my jets to a pilot that has only flown a little Cessna. Don't skimp on quality batteries.

BJ43,,, I use to date this super hotty that was a pilot, she use to work for Flight Safety in Deleware for a while,,,, I got to fly the Gulfstream G4,G500, & G550 Simulators,,, it was mad crazy,, I was flying up the Hudson and buzzing the statue of Liberty and flying in unison with other planes. I did a landing at Denver in the night in a total Blizzard,,, this was one of the coolest things I have ever done, flying those Gulfstreams was so dam cool..... I was also up at her parents house in Pittsburg and her father was in security at the local airport,,, got a tour of the place and was in the Rooney's ( PITT Steelers owner ) personal Jet, along with a couple others,,,, but flying those G4 & G5's was amazing. If I was 20yrs younger I would go to flight school and become a private pilot for some big Corp for sure ;)

Sorry just saw this BJ,,, most vendors now carry the AW & Panasonic,,, Super-T I believe has both,,, as for the MNKE I always got mine from Digitalciggz, We really cant compare e-cigs to RC,,, RC you are running those Batts at full bore from full charge to depletion, where we are pulsing a 3-6 second charge, so its a bit different, but really all the same factors come into play, you know they game and have enough experience and already know all of this.... As for Batts, the newer Panasonic CGR18650CH is the very best of the best in my opinion, BUT only comes in a 18650 from what I know of,,,with the AW right behind it,,, the MNKE states it has a higher C rating but I have also spoken to Andrew himself (AW) and he told me he could also state his IMR has the same "C" rating as the MNKE but he doesnt want to over state his Batts and feels safer at the "C" rating he puts on his IMR which is dead on true :) I stick with the Panasonic myself with AW as well but these newer Panasonic's are one helluva a Batt.

Edit,, RTDvapor also is a decent Batt supplier,,,, so is Lighthound,,, Super-T

The Flames are the only Batt Trustfire makes I would even consider,, I stick with AW for 14500 as well

I also respect your post, and enjoy your findings :)

Ok.

So I decided to try this differently.

I received my 500 today. There was another large piece of mesh in there and I wish I had any idea what that was. There was stuff written on it, but can't decipher it. How does one tell?

So I decided to build one of these on a device I know very well. The zenesis. I've always had a super easy time building wicks and coils on those.

So I rolled a 100mm mesh, oxidized it, and stuck it in. Wrapped four wraps, worked out the shorts and got it going.

Here is what I've noticed. Wicking, excellent. Flavor good. There is not as much heat as I would like and the coils are not glowing as bright and hot as I would like, but overall not bad.

Now I gotta figure out to get more heat. I'm guessing either use 30 or 28 g, or maybe take a wrap off. I figured I'd let it settle a bit first.
