I wouldnt pay that for that 635 mesh,,,it's new, wait a few weeks to a month and it will come down in price, it will also be available at other places very soon which will bring the price tag down as well.

So will McMaster Carr's price ever come down for #500 mesh??

I cant predict what McM-c,, Will do,,, but in this industry just like most every industry new product and the first to have it usually grabs ALL $$$ THEY CAN, until others get in on it, then once one of them drops there drawers the others follow. Hey I'm not telling you not to buy it be my guest, but I'm willing to bet as soon as the Mesh Company has it that it will be a 1/3rd less or more then what that company is charging you posted,, just my personal thoughts for what there worth.

The difference between 400 SS Mesh at 13.99 per sheet from 500 SS Mesh @ 15.99 a sheet is only $2 difference, what makes 635 worth 10 X that amount ???? = Market share does that's what,,,,,, I'm not going to go on about this, but I will revisit this in one month and see where its at then.
:)

I also dont think its going to be a huge difference in your vape from 500

I think it's gone up a little from my supplier since BJ started converting us. (no ill will to you BJ, you are responsible for my current setup ( 28awg Nichrome 8/9 wrap 0.9 Ohms on 105mm of #500 tolled tight with a small air gap all around the wick hole to reduce cohesive force, and I might even be able to put my fill screw in LOL, running on my paps from 4-3.6 volts. silky thick flavorful 4 second hits to die for  ))

WOW  $222.30 Per Square Foot!
#500 is 24$ish per sq ft.

I got quoted 5k+ for a 10meter sample #635 from China.

In other news, I was quoted SGD$11,000 for a 100ft roll of #600.

I wonder, how many more decades of vaping for me to just break even?

This I agree with :)

This I'm not so sure of, BJ was very excited about the possibility of #600, If you think of the difference bettween, #300 & #400 and then #400 & #500, then #600 could be a very significant step up for monster vaping, enabling shorter more satisfying hits.
My partner looks at me with a slightly disjointed look in her eyes when she see me taking a ten second hit from my DID LOL.

svap, I'm not saying it wont work and be good, sure it will,,, I just dont think it will be much of a difference from 500 to 600, same coil same wire, one with 500 one with 600 wont be a huge difference. just my personal opinion, time will tell,,,,theres better coming anyways, Also Titanium mesh is now being made too, and when they get it to these small hole sizes I think that too may be better possibly

On top of that:

The ultra fine mesh, at least according to sites like McMaster-Carr, shows that the price is absurdly high to get that grade of a mesh and still have it be quality SS.

12" × 12" Sheets

12" × 24" Sheets

24" × 24" Sheets

36" × 36" Sheets
Mesh Size Wire Dia. Opening
Width Open
Area Each Each Each Each
635 × 635 0.0009" 0.0007" 18.4% 85385T887 $740.99 85385T987 $1,407.88 85385T449 $2,667.56 85385T559 $5,668.57
Cut-to-Length Pieces

To Order: Please specify square feet needed. Max. continuous length is 100 linear feet.

36" Wide

Per Sq. Ft.
Mesh Size Wire Dia. Opening

Area 1-16 17-59 60-Up
635 × 635 0.0009" 0.0007" 18.4% 9226T954 $740.99 $592.79 $503.42

That's $741 for a square foot.

500x500 is $115 for a square foot.

This is just for culinary grade steel mesh, from a company that has high standards.

I'm not sure of the quality we get from other places, but McMaster-Carr isn't a company that I normaly consider as someone that gouges, and they do a ton of business in order to keep prices low.

Where are people seeing #600 sheets, at a consumer price?

Ok, just a quick note/update to all. I have my current setup on the DID std at 28awg Nichrome 8/9 wrap 0.9 Ohms on 105mm of #500 tolled tight with a small air gap all around the wick hole to reduce cohesive force, and thought I might even be able to put my fill screw in LOL, running on my paps from 4-3.6 volts. silky thick flavorful 4 second hits to die for.
Well, I cant put my fill screw in, especially while nursing a new coil and mesh.
I've got heaps of #200 & #240 mesh lying around, that was a free gift from the mesh supplier so I've been thinking what can I do with this?
I hate having my fill screw out as I do get leaks, I have heard a roll of mesh in the fill hole can do the trick but never found the ideal.
This is what I found works best for me.
Cut a piece of the #200 or #240 mesh, 15mmx70m, give it a very quick torch just to get any impurities off, then roll mesh round an 18g filling needle nice and tight and dense, then while still on needle, heat til orange with torch and quench, do this twice to stiffen it and help it to keep it's shape, and it's 18g hole. then insert with clockwise twist until it sits just below you top brass/SS nut on you pos post.
Result, great wicking, great flavor,NO burnt or dry hits and NO LEAKS.
By the Way I am running about 80%VG 20%PG mix.
Just my:2c:

My apologies for altering the train of thought here, but I didn't post in time with my question about Kanthal D several posts back. Is is OK to use? I looked at the specs and it doesn't seem too terribly different in composition from A or A-1 or am I not understanding certain chemical relationships. Any opinions? Thanks very much and again, sorry for interrupting.....

Any one know a coupon code for the mesh company? I am at check out with 2 sheets of 500 ;) and just noticed the coupon field.

Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 2
Hi BJ43,

We can't afford to give too much discount away on these sheets. The #500 mesh is especially costly to produce.

However I am happy to offer a lifetime 5% discount to all members of your forum.

All they have to do is email me with the following information:

· Name and delivery address

· Telephone Number - We won’t call, but we have to input one into the system

· Email address

I will then set them up with a login account for our website. They'll then be able to login and receive the 5% discount anytime they want.

Kind Regards
