I don't understand ppl having problems with TH and vapor from 510. I do understand battery life tho, it's terrible. Shortly after starting on the 510 about 4 months ago I did a small battery mod that helped me alot. You almost have to with the 510 or get used to charging batteries often. I recently got the Spade from dietsmokes and I couldn't be happier! I get about 4 hours off each battery. It's not a HV mod, which was fine for me. The size is good too.

I'm really looking forward to trying the new L2 510 atty. Gonna order a couple today!

They just started selling them a few days ago. A bunch of people here have ordered them but no reviews yet. I am awaiting their opinions also.

No flame here, just my experience of the 510 (based on only the original two attys that came with my kit and relative to my other devices), which is both similar to and different from the OP's.

  • The vapor is excellent, exceeded only by my 801 atty on my 5V Prodigy and by a GreenCig cartomizer on my KR808D-1 battery.

  • The TH is minimal, certainly compared with my 801 penstyle (even without the 5V Prodigy) and my KR808D-1 (with KR808D-1 cartomizers) ... and even the M702/Revolver super-mini. 510 TH is similar to the GreenCig.

  • The flavor is good. KR808D-1 carts have a more intense flavor, but not necessarily a more pleasant one.

  • The reliability and consistency are outstanding, better than any other e-cig I've tried (although it is tie with my Prodigy). I press that button and it vapes well every single time (until it needs more juice or battery recharge).

  • The PCC is not very pretty (nor does it hold as many attys and carts as others), but it is effective and easy to use. For example, having to screw in the battery and remembering to press and hold the charging button (on the prettier M702/Revolver) is a nuisance.
Putting all that together: the 510 is my "go-to" device for my extensive "pacifier" vaping. I use my penstyle or Prodigy for my nicotine hits. I occasionally switch off with the KR808D-1 and its two different carts, depending on what I want to achieve. [I'll probably put my M702 up for sale. It is cute though.]

Obviously, perceptions of attributes like throat hit vary considerably for the 510. I'm not sure why. But I stand by my perceptions (as my perceptions, not as absolute judgments), while accepting those of others (strange as they may be:rolleyes:).

What is the L2 atty? what is different about them and where do you get them. As for the 510 I would like to know what is better my 510 outperforms my 901 even when the 901 is on a 5v passthrough. Other than a hv mod just what outperforms a 510?

I like the 510. Sometimes it works great then there are other times it doesn't produce good at all. It all depends on the atomizer and if the batteries are charged good. I have to change the battery about ever 30 minutes to get it to produce to its full potential. Overall it is a good ecig. I now have a Little Chuck and in comparison the 510 is on the lower side. I still use the 510 sometimes and it still produces fairly well.

It is by far better than amost of the ecigs other than mod.

I concur entirely with this :). For my part, I'm comparing it to a Penstyle 801 (RN4072), and to a Mini 901 (RN4075) which I've been using since day one.

I originally bought a 510 in March when it was still relatively new (and not without some problems) and the kit I got was a total disaster - the batteries wouldn't charge properly if at all, all but one of the carts didn't fit, the vapour and flavour were as good as non-existent, and - to top it all - one of the fibres from under the bridge must have snapped or something and shot out into my mouth, painfully making me feel as if it had exploded against my throat, leaving me with a sore throat for hours. I returned it for a refund and swore I'd never try one again.

Having seen how so many people endlessly rave about it non-stop since then, I recently thought I'd take a chance and buy another one to see what the "fuss" was about and in case I was missing something that had perhaps been much improved on in the meantime.

The vapour on my new 510 is outstanding, there are mega masses of plumes and plumes of it, almost too much (if that's possible) and I often end up trying to wave it away from me as there's so much of it! My Penstyles are next (very smooth and full), with the 901 giving the least of the 3.

With regard to flavour, I find each model seems to give a different type of flavour rather than more or less flavour. I don't find the 501 has any "less" flavour than my 901 or 801; it just seems to me that it's different, in that it's perhaps less "harsh" and more sort of "fresh" tasting than the 901, and maybe a tad stronger flavour than the 801. It's very difficult to describe the aspect of flavour as it's so subjective to each of us, so we might all interpret it differently. For me:
- The 901 has the "harshest" of the 3, which may make it feel as if it had "more" flavour.
- The Penstyle has a thick velvety "smoothness" to the flavour, which may make it feel as if it had "less" flavour.
- The 510 seems to be somewhere in-between the two, not as "harsh" (or having "less" flavour, if that's how others interpret it) as the 901, but "stronger" (or having "more" flavour) than the Penstyle in that it's sort of "sharper". I really can't describe it, it's just... different, but not necessarily less or weaker.

Throat hit? Hmmm, I get absolutely none.... I find the 901 has the strongest of all and even more with a 3.7v mod battery, but haven't tried a 510 atty on a 3.7v mod so I've no idea if it might help increase it and give it at least the same TH as I get from a Penstyle.

For my own personal further comparison, my first e-cig in early January this year was the Intellicig EVO (a modified M401, I believe) which I bought a couple of weeks before my first 901 and Penstyle. At the time, there was no two ways about it for me - the EVO had by far the strongest TH and "harshest" (or "strongest") flavour. I later got the generic M401 and found it totally whimpish compared to the EVO (and to the 901 and Penstyle). I then bought some new EVO atties in May or June, thinking my old EVO atties were maybe giving up the ghost as well as to compare to both my original EVO ones and the newer generic M401 ones - and could swear they were little different to the generic M401. Both seemed as wispy as each other and I was also getting totally fed up with constantly fiddling about with the tiny leaky carts as well. So I gave up on the both the EVO and M401.

That's my impression on it, and - as they say - "your mileage may vary" :)

WoW - I whole heartedly disagree with the OP. I've had no issues with my 510. As a matter of fact, It vapes great right out of the (no)box... :p

After blowing out the brand new atty, it has worked perfectly. I read here a lot while waiting for it to show up in the mail and was ready to vape - thanks of course to all the fine people here in these forums and their excellent advice. I knew exactly waht to do before I vaped the 1st time!
