I honestly can't say why, but the advice of going to Ace and getting washers, it's spot on! I got some, I think, #4 washers, I didn't look, but it's holding stable ohms, I've got the hot spots settled and it's working well so far.
here's my wick build..
Springs? Not sure what you mean there.
I had to take the SS wick out of my AGA and fire it to burn all the gunk from the hot spots off of it and the flavor has really has come back to life! It's getting right there with my carto tanks.I'm much happier with it, and not afraid to go out and about with this set up now!
I did break down tonight, after not finding a carto tank I like, for what I want in my price range, and ordered this https://www.rtdvapor.com/online-store/rebuildable-atomizers/didrba-detail I keep hearing it's like the mini did, which looks GREAT on a Provari!
The AGA is just too top heavy for me and I've heard the ZAP is heavy and big, for out and about use, so I hope this fits the bill for my needs. I've also heard these are a lot easier to rebuild and set up. We'll see how it goes!
btw im not sure of the difference or if there is one but these are at cov for $11 plus shipping with coupon code.
COV Gen 1
I added a spring to mine, compression spring from the hardware store, smallest I could find.
I haven't tested it properly yet, but quick test shows a wrap around the centre post between the nut and the washer, it holds fine.
Gotta say, that's one nice lookin' coil!
Ok, tried to roll a thicker mesh this time.
40 x 120mm....
I rolled it as tight as I could....so much that my fingers are pretty sore...sigh.
I do not think its wicking that well... compared to the shorter wick.
Is there a trick to making them wick better when its tighter rolled?
I do not see any hot spots.... and if I vape around 9 watts.... it really isnt hitting well.
I bump up to 10 or 11...and it starts to get a little better...but still seams weak for throat hit, vapor, and flavor.
I do see that at the higher watts, it will start to show a red coil near the bottom.
I do not see my juice starting to pool on the wick when held down....I did on the shorter wick.
I take a vape or two...then it shows hints of burned taste. Not alot...but its there...
edit: I should note that I see the red coil after firing for almost the cut off...not when I am normal vaping.
So I think its just not wicking well enough to maintain the juice for a longer vape.... maybe im wrong.
