... It's this kind of "I can vape anywhere attitude" that gives everyone who vapes a bad name and will end up creating rules that should not be in place. ...

This is what is Very Sad.

That a few vaper's can and do things that are Stupid and we All have to suffer the consequences.

Future news story -

Airplane full of innocent victims almost destroyed by heartless electronic smoking villain!

Today an evil overlord ignited a horrendous device that risked the lives of all around them during a flight between two pre-schools for children with terrible diseases. Said one passenger, "I feared for my life as he repeatedly risked our lives". Reportedly the device which is an incendiary device full of dangerous metals and explosive untested battery technology that is used to spout toxic chemicals in to the eyes, ears, and lungs of those surrounding the heartless users. The device began destroying all oxygen in the surrounding area and the "vaper" (members of such heartless groups as ECF , the Electronic Cigarette Front) laughed and made comments that were a blatant affront to the danger they had created. All world governments are seeking to ban this horrible dangerous form of hatred. Electronic Cigarettes reached popularity when cigarette smokers were finally all killed off in various government camps.

Please note None of this is factual and is a satirical view of media portrayal of vaping and vapers. I understand the glaring errors in this and have included them to make a point.

dordas23,

I just read the article and this part struck a very unsettling cord with me;

"A flight attendant asked the passenger to turn off the cigarette, but he refused. The Middle Eastern man started screaming at the smaller woman. “He was screaming, ‘Allah is great, Allah is great,’” said Nancy Haywood, passenger. “And it kind of worries you when that happens, but believe me, there were enough men to hold him down.”

SERIOUSLY?? WTF?? The guy was causing problems from the get-go and screaming like a nut (or some would say like a terrorist) and the media reports focus on the e-cigarette?? That's like reporting that a driver, who was driving drunk and swerving all over the road, was arrested because his plates were expired!

Fascinating. Something like this happened a couple years ago, sans Middle Eastern "Allah is great" part. Unruly guy on a plane insists on vaping after being asked not to. Becomes loud and angry, possibly violent, and they turned the plan around. Never heard anything more about him or if he was charged with anything. I suspected he was a plant. I suspect this one is too. The fact that some media clearly made more of a deal about the ecig than the "Allah is great" part, and even ignored that, tells me this was a set up.

In the previous example of this, also discussed here on ECF, someone that was clearly a troll suddenly came onto the scene in that thread stating that he would have also become violent, that they had no right to deny him his God-given right to vape where ever he wanted, clearly trying to rev people up. After that he vanished and I never saw he again on ECF. Other long-term vets might recall this. I think it was around January 2010.

Fact: they can and will try anything to put ecigs in a negative light. This Allah guy might well have simply been crazy, and this was real, but I am very suspicious. I doubt we will ever know who he was, even though there is a flight list, and screaming about Allah to the point of people holding you down and turning a flight around would generally get you publicly identified. I also expect he has been released, and there will be no follow up.

Sounds to me like a case of "Wagging the Dog", if you don't know what that is look it up. The government has become so politically correct that any hostile actions by muslims have to blamed on something other than islam.

What a sad and ridiculous post to make in an electronic cigarette fourm.

The biggest mystery to me about the article at
1 passenger detained after disturbance on Continental flight headed to Houston | khou.com Houston
is that devout Muslims do NOT consume any tobacco, alcohol or pork.

While many men in Muslim countries use tobacco, truly devout Muslims (like devout Mormons) don't use tobacco.

So it makes no sense for someone who uses an e-cigarette to say "Allah is great"

Then again, it make no sense for anyone (except a total idiot) to say "Allah is great" on an airplane during a dispute with a flight attendant.

Rothenbj, did you post that picture before reading the article from Houston?

What saddens me were the comments. Very few on ecig use actually, but the hatred. 911 sucked, but assuming that everyone from the middle east is a terrorist and deserves to die is just wrong. If we are going to make those kind of generalizations, then all white men are terrorists too after what McVey did. I'm just curious as to how this would have played out if the guy hadn't been muslim.

Sorry if I offended anyone, but I just can't get on the "condemn all for the actions of a few" bandwagon.

Regardless of the provocation, abiding by the rules imposed is always a good idea .. especially on a flight ..

Remember last year when some guy was asked to not use his e-cig and started tossing peanuts and what not at the flight attendant .. ??

The sad part is it's just another piece to add to the bad news pie ..
