One of the fellows visiting was off, but a genius when it came to thermoplastics. He would walk around with a gallon of chocolate milk and drink it throughout the day, said it coated his stomach in preparation for drinking after work. He also ate 2 hotdogs for lunch everyday, room temperature on plain white toast... He now runs a food truck in Guelph...

It works, milk will coat the tummy. I've used it to save a couple of OD's
I think the chocolate was just for taste though..
My dad would eat a couple of tablespoons of butter b4 going drinking..but he was French.
That works better than milk, it's like vaping vs smoking ciggies

I know the regulatory bodies are incompetent and often owned by the industries they regulate. But at least the regs they come up with are public, and they also often publish safety information that we would never get any other way. Like the recent car problems. Exploding airbags, dodgy ignitions. The car companies would for sure never have told us about that stuff, or fixed it if they hadn't been exposed and leaned on by someone with a really big stick. And as rotten as they are how much worse would their behavior be if nobody was watching them?
What I'm saying is, I distrust the corporations way more than I distrust government. I guess the free market might do the job in a village economy. In a corporate owned State it's a joke. I never did understand the idea of getting government out of the way and trusting the market. You just listed some problems with our little corner of the market. How could the market fix that stuff? I read about the problems and try to avoid the really bad products. Maybe the internet, forums like this, Amazon feedback, and so forth gives us a bit more leverage these days.

Some would have you think the only safe joose and mods would be those coming from companies obviously geared up to become the great giants and survive the gooberment regulations. IE those that may one day be one and the same.
Despite what may be believed, it's not "the electrons escaping". If anything the electrons would become bound as they reach equilibrium between the anode and cathode by way of creation of a crystalline structure.
It is a thermochemical reaction. It can build up over time and only be noticeable when the battery performs poorly via an abundance of bound electrons in the aforementioned crystalline structure. Or (usually via abuse or use directly following abuse, but not necessarily) it can happen instantly. Or any combination thereof.
The gas that is created and builds up creating the potential for explosion is a byproduct of the reaction and typically more abundant the faster the reaction completes.
Looks to me like the imgur photo incident happened in someones pocket. Burned through the thigh before being removed and subsequently burning the hand in the process.

Thats where your wrong, we dont want to stop it we want people who dont understand what they are doing to either learn or walk away till they do.
It may not be related to this story but just yesterday someones in here askin for help with a .2, .3 Ohm coil when asked about batteries the reply was oh I got bla bla off ebay dont think they are real though but meh what can you do its ebay . does it matter?
