As my Grandma told me, "Never teach a pig to sing, it wastes your time and annoys the pig."
If they are truly interested, I take the time to explain and try and convert, if they are like the
proverbial pig, they can get their singing lessons from someone else.

That's a good one. My Grandma had a similar saying "Never wrestle with a pig. You'll both get dirty, and the pig loves it".

I hate it when people say that I actually did not quit smoking. Ex-smokers who quit cold turkey are the worst. I think they are jealous of us vapers tbh. They have to deal with their cravings while we, as vapers, can deal with our cravings by taking a hit off of our PV.

I've converted 5 people so far. Still working on helping my Dad completely get off the smokes. My partner's step-dad is on oxygen and still smokes. He bought an expensive cheap knock-off eGo battery, and never uses it. There are a lot of people who don't want to bother with learning about the new technology.

I always say that anything worth doing takes work.

Just went through this at work, converted 5 people to vape instead of smoke (this all started with my boss complaining of us stinkin) girl back in the office in a diff. Department used hers and her boss said no because she is in olain view of customers and its not professional. Her rebutle was that we get to do it so she should too. Well now no one can. I even accepted this from my boss and was until her boss at the last minute threw in "those arent even fda approved" I lost it. Lol we had it out, and now I am allowed to in my office as long as the girl in back doesnt find out and if she does my boss (who is above her boss but trying to keep the peace) will deny giving permissiin lol

I had a neighbor who kept calling my APV a smoker. My favorite was when he saw the eVic for the first time and asked, "Is that a clock on your smoker there?" It didn't annoy me...I thought it was funny actually. My job is going to get into full swing here in a couple weeks (I'm a teacher), so I'll be with my co-workers full time since my conversion...we'll see what they have to say.

Anti vapors may be a little extreme but over the past 2 weeks i have had 2 people tell me that vaping is worse than smoking, not dangerous, not as bad as smoking, but worse. The thing is when you actually get talking to these people they haven't even done the research. They heard it from a friend of a friends mom whose uncle had a dog that befriending the cat next door and "Apparantly" the cats owner died.

Then i have to waste my time explaining the research that has been done and the doctors Ive spoken to and the personal affects i and others i know have experienced from vaping. Which are all good except for the occasional dry mouth. After i have gotten through all of this half them still stand their ground and say its still bad for you. The nicotine argument my dog these people are like parrots. Nicotine is still bad for you etc etc. Lecturing me about nicotine while they sip their coffee/red bull with caffeine or drink their pint of beer/double vodka.

Even smokers do it while sucking in 4000 chemicals although i don't bother defending myself against them. Worst of all are the people who call it smoking. Some do it just as a general comment they probably don't think it annoys us but some people insist on calling it smoking because there is still "Smoke". I am not even allowed to vape indoors at work because i will, and i quote "Set off the smoke alarms". We sell e-lites, we have a sign above them saying "Legal to smoke indoors" and yet......

Rant over. Anyone have any similar experiences ?

so you're winning over half of them? that's not so bad... keep doing it and eventually there won't be anyone left(except that one REALLY stubborn person).

I had one of those moments last weekend at a friends house, we were like 10 having dinner and one of his friends from college started it with this "You are still smoking..."

I was the only vaper at the table but one of the guys gf started vaping a few weeks ago along with my gf, we started to explain what vaping was and the benefits we felt and saw after using it for a while. At the beggining it was tough because most of the people at the table sided with this ignorant guy.

I tried to stay level headed and explained everything i've been learning, after like half an hour explaining, everyone was convinced that vaping was a good thing for exsmokers and 2 of them asked if i could get starter kits for their SO or family members. But this guy just said: "Well, now i understand a little more, but to me it's still the same...because it looks the same".
Others tried to reason with him for a little while but i didn't even care anymore, i know that i'm going to keep spending time and money trying to explain vaping to people that actually want to hear and educate themselves instead of wasting my time with these trolls :p

I heavily vape and have been for almost 4 years. id say 90% of the people that question it are just curious and actually think its cool. the other 10% are usually the save-the-earth hypocrites that you either ignore, educate or agree to disagree.

i do, however, agree that it is in fact the lesser of two evils... thats something you have to keep in mind when you come across people like that.

This is mainly down to the popular media. Selfish, boorish and pig ignorant people will always pick up on 'facts' that suit their point of view.
OK, what we need is some form of pop media to start the rumour that e-cigs increase libido and sexual stamina.
Bet we get a lot more curious people asking questions then. We can then just give them a satisfied smirk in reply. :pervy:

Once, I was with a friend of mine (a recent convert) at the bar, and this chick (a friend of his) approached him, with a lit cigarette in her fingers, and stated "You would be better off with a cigarette, because no-one knows what's in those things"

My friend just pulled a bottle from his pocket, read the list of 6 or so ingredients, and asked her if she could name all thousands of chemicals in the smoke of her cigarette. By then, I just had to chime in the conversation...

Being my obnoxious self, I simply said aloud: "That may be too much to ask your friend, David... maybe she could name just the 60 or so carcinogenics..."

That ended the conversation mighty fast...!

Anyone ever see the movie "Idiocracy?" I swear the world is moving in that direction. Pretty soon we'll be tying together skyscrapers that have fallen over with rope - or better yet dental floss. People are the center of the universe and know everything. Other people are just errant extras in the story of their life whose feelings, opinions, etc. mean nothing. I just try to avoid these types.

My personal favorite is when they offer me unwanted nuggets like opinions on vaping. Trying to be courteous, I listen politely as they bloviate while simultaneously carrying out a Dexter-type scenario in my head tailor made for them.

I had some lady come up to me who was a retired college professor (she told me even though I didn't care) and obviously felt I was stupid and needed educating on the hazards of PG. After about 22 seconds I got tired and said "Lady, it would be the least of things I've ever put in my body." Of course, she walked off miffed that her a*s remained un-kissed.

Was that harsh?

I love to tell people about e-cigs and vaping! By now, all my friends and acquaintenances are well-educated. If a stranger asks me about my ecig, I'll keep on with the spiel as long as they look interested. But if I get the smoke-nazi "those things are bad for you" variety of come-on, I'll respond with either (depending on my mood) the crazy-eyed "You should be careful who you speak to like that. I may be crazy and want to hurt you" rant, or the steely-eyed "Tell me why I should give a ..... what you think." Then I turn my back and ignore them. Nothing frustrates fanatics more than being ignored! :D
