anyone 'occasionally' smoke a cigarette but don't go further than that?

I've been vaping 4 years and the first two I still smoked one after meals and one with my coffee. One day I decided to quit and never missed them after that. I just don't have any desire at all to smoke another one and didn't when my wife still smoked in front of me.

Now, after 4 years vaping I am completely satisfied getting my nicotine from juice in lower and lower levels. I don't think I'll ever go to zero nic, but I haven't noticed a difference after dropping from 24mg to 8mg and 11mg levels.

I've got a pack in the liquor cabinet with one cig out of it. That pack has sat un-touched since last July. Some nights I will think about it, but for some reason they just don't have the draw on me anymore. If I ever do decide to have one, it wouldn't be a big deal to me. It's not likely that I will ever go back to 50 cigs a day again, I just prefer to vape so much more than I ever enjoyed smoking :vapor:

Just posted in another thread, that I started, that moderation is more liberating than cessation. I stand by that claim as I've gone cold turkey from smoking longer than just about any vaper has quit thru vaping.

When I went cold turkey, after 30 days I gave myself full permission to smoke. Then went another 8 years not smoking until I had my next one. I think that 'full permission' thing is best place to be mentally.

I fail to see an actual problem in having a smoke every once in awhile, which several in this thread have already posted about what 'once in awhile' actually means. I also think it is far less a problem (psychologically) than the ex-smoker who needs to hate on smoking to ensure they don't go back to that place of loss of self control from smoking addiction. I just think it isn't possible to lose that control with vaping in the picture. You'd have to make the mental determination to never vape again to suddenly revert back to a heavy user of smoking. Post #21 in this thread nails that point.

So many ex-smokers, now vapers, claim the taste of smokes are just god awful. And while I can relate to that, it seems to miss the point (entirely) that smoking is an acquired taste. When the temptation arises and moves toward a craving, your mind is remembering the good taste, the one that you had acquired, were accustomed to, and that you did actually enjoy. If the temptation is there, but your mind is conflicted, believing that just one smoke ruins some lucky streak of cessation, then those one or two drags are going to be met with hate. IMO, you are far better off just waiting that strong craving out for like 10 minutes and not smoking. I had those when I went cold turkey and I honestly can't recall one that lasted more than 10 minutes, even while the first 3 minutes of those 10 seemed like an hour.

But if the temptation is there and you aren't coming from a conflicted mind, then I say enjoy the smoke, the taste, the experience for what it is, and realize that with vaping in the picture, there is almost zero chance of a relapse. Moderate smoking is very very nice, even while vaping rules.

I've been vaping for well over three years now and still enjoy a cigarette every once in a while--I think my last one was about 3 weeks ago. And yes, I do still enjoy them, they still go down nice and smooth, but to be honest they don't satisfy me like my vape does. I think I'll always reserve my right to have an analog now and then, and I feel no guilt whatsoever, but as someone said, they no longer have that draw on me like they used to.

I haven't had a real cigarette since 8/10/11, and don't think I will. But never say never... As it stands right now, I don't like being around it, but I'm not preachy or anything either.

But some people still have one on occasion, or one a day, etc. Whatever works best for you is what you should do, and don't feel guilty if you "sneak" one once in awhile. We're only human...and we can only make progress, not perfection. :)

After fully switching I'd only had maybe 8 cigarettes. But this week I bought a pack and am half way through it. I actually do enjoy smoking my smoke of choice, Marlboro No. 27s. I'm not sure if I've just been too stressed lately (lots of things going on in my life at the moment..) or just figured I could buy a pack to try it again.

I definitely enjoy smoking more than vaping while drinking. It just goes hand in hand and I always am unsatisfied with vaping when I drink. It's interesting how my mind makes these choices for me haha.

surprisingly i haven’t had an analogue cigarette since my first ecig starter kit arrived last june. there’s been the occasional time i’ve thought about having one but it’s never been compelling enough for me to actually go out and buy a pack. there’s a certain freedom with vaping that overpowers any urge i may get to have an analogue.
