Stumbled across this. It is an excellent piece. The only annoying thing is the darn popup ad when you first hit the site. At least it has a countdown on it.

Are E-cigarettes Cool to Kids? | Healthmad

This might be a good link to send someone who hits you with "They're selling these to kids" as their excuse for attempted murder.

What a really good article! I like how the writer whent to her son to ask for his inut. I have done the same thing with my grandkids and some of the kids that come to my home.I have noticed over the years when it come to and expecially teenagers . . . if it illegal or against the rules and within money reason . . . they will do it. As put by one reader - you can go into a liquor store and get just about as many flavors or get the right stuff to make your own flavor - are we going to try to make liquor illegal again?

E-cigs aren't even cool to adults!
I vape openly at the club where people smoke openly and some people think it's weird. Some people get it but I get the feeling many think it's kind of nerdy.
They understand more after I've launched into my "I smoked for 40+ years - 4,000 chemicals 60 carcinogens - no 2nd hand smoke etc" spiel.

"Hey, if you're gonna smoke, why don't you just smoke the real thing?"

It's a little alienating but since I'm part of the "main attraction" there, I get a little more respect and many nights I go home and have to follow up on emailing out e-cig information to the more curious. I need to get some literature printed up for handouts.

E-cigs aren't cool to kids. They're too expensive. They're not dangerous enough to be cool and they're too damn difficult to maintain. Listen to how the adults around here whine about leaky carts, blown or flooded attys, bad tasting cartos and such.

It's definitely easier to smoke, and maybe kids would prefer to smoke because it's less complicated. However, the first time my niece and nephew saw me with my pv they both thought it looked cool and wanted to try it immediately. They are ages 16 and 14. I know this runs counter to the conventional wisdom on this board, but their excited reaction was immediate and unmistakable.

I think even if teenagers tried it, it would only be once. They are definitely more difficult to use and maintain. I'm trying to get the 20-something's that I know and love to switch and they have difficulty with it. They lose them (son), don't really want to order juice online (niece), and forget to carry the pv around with them (daughter). As much as they hang out on computer, none of them want to get on it and research or even try to find the websites that sell the stuff.

I think it would be even less likely that a teenager would do it.
