I consider myself a reincarnated hippie, may have been a bit late to the party age wise but by the mid seventies I definitely dug that scene man....

I'm sort of an honorary hippie, since my husband was one, sorta... and yep, in the mid-70s, we THOUGHT we were hippies! In fact I started smoking in '75! I still miss seeing cute young guys with long beautiful hair and tight jeans. Now the only guys with long hair are the old hippies with the bald spot on top and all the young guys seem to want to display what brand of undies they prefer, with their pants hanging so low. Whatever happened to BELTS!?!

I missed the hippy era by a little bit too, but the van is in my avi! And I do remember bell bottoms, hip huggers and platform shoes!

Dang it, I missed hiphuggers coming and going. First time around, I HAD no hips; lately, my "muffin top" is much too obnoxious to go around in pants like that. I did the platform shoes a bit, though cautiously, because I was taller than all the boys and half the girls until the boys got tall around 16-17, and also I was clumsy as a drunken ox.

I was a little too young, as well. Graduated high school in 1973. But my first car WAS a bright lemon yellow VW Beetle -- loved that car. My dad called it a "pregnant rollerskate" and thought I needed something much more practical. He was right - I about froze to death in the winter, and it was so SMALL!
