FREE TOOTLE PUFFER WRIST BAND* to the first poster who links to Croak's FIRST mention of Tootle Puffers. (caveat: Croak, you are disallowed.) ;)

I'm not "tootle-puffing", I'm lung hitting ......

I personally think that this is a very definition of Tootle Puffers. Typically MTL people do so with "reasonable" ohms and "reasonable" wattage. I personally would like to be part of a community where we can discuss gear and techniques that provide a good experience for us MTL Tootle Puffers.

We are part of that community. Perhaps we can get our own forum on the reborn ECF?

We all know the real reason for the forum shutting down to read only is so that we may all catch up reading on this damned thread....

Bwahahahahahaha!

Just an FYI: If this becomes a 'chat' thread, unfortunately, it will have to move to the lounge. I would strongly suggest that Kat-dear-darling, ask for a group forum.... Forum as opposed to a group page. Posts will count. There are a LOT of toodle puffers and I can so see this group taking off and being a huge success!

Just mull it over....

Nothing will be done until after the migration anyway. Then let's just see how the Group stuff functions on the new site.

So, do we have a rendezvious point for the duration of the downed forum? Maybe a #tootlepuffer thing on twitter? My new tootlepuffin goodies will be here and I'll have no place to show them off!! :w00t:

And I got some hallacious great news last night.... our fed refund will be deposited TOMORROW! Hello, new water heater! Electric instead of that smelly gas!!! YES!!! And some new shoes.. er tires... for the Silverado baby. :D

Now I know I've become middle-aged when I'm excited about a new water heater and new tires.

I have tire envy.

Are they tootle tires?

At this point, we don't really know; we have to work out whatever it's going to cost for the EMC in our area to come in and remove the old gas water heater, run a new 220 line from the main (or just an extension from the one our dryer uses, since they're in the same "room" (read: *closet*!)) and the price of the new water heater. It won't be cheap, but we'll get a tax credit next year, and it should save us a good bit on regular expenses; that gas water heater is very old, very inefficient, and very slow, so we have to waste a lot of water just waiting for it to heat up! A new electric one might well cut our water costs nearly in half! And we'll be able to get the "levelized billing" from the gas co, since the only gas we'll be using will be for the furnace. Depending on how much the water heater effort runs, we'll be able to determine how nice a set of tires we can afford. We're in our EMC's Extremely Good Books, so if it's too much, they might finance it.

The water heater will require a separate 220 volt 30 amp breaker and 10 gauge wire run from the breaker panel. 10--2 G wire.
You cannot just tie it in to the dryer one. Not safe at all.

And do not wrap any tootle coils with 10 gauge wire.

I wonder how sales of tootle puff hardware is vs the higher wattage stuff? In units not dollars. The sale of one REO would equal spending for several tootle puffers for a year. There seems no way to really track the sales figures except for those cigalikes and disposables sold thru walmart and such.

High voltage vaping is a niche and nearly everyone who gets into vaping can say they've had a Tootle device at some point, especially when they first start out. I'm pretty sure it would win in terms of sales. Although not all tootles are created equal.

That was my thought too, since they're both quite heat-intensive. But I do know there's a spare 220 thingie in the breaker box that's not being used, so it shouldn't be a huge deal, just have to go further than tapping the one for the dryer. We were very lucky when we replaced the old gas stove with an electric one, there was already a 220 box in the wall behind the stove. :D Maybe that'll be true when the gas water heater is moved out the way, though I kinda doubt it.

29ga for me! They last as long as 28ga coils, and heat up as fast as 30ga coils! :thumb:

What's funny is that the only part of that itty bitty mod thread I ever read was the first post... I didn't think I wanted an iStick. And now I have one on the way!

Actually I just didn't think I could afford one, but when I put the aging of my current hardware and my growing need to invest in a new setup together with the decreasing prices... it just seemed like a no-brainer. And I'll have another color of kayfun. :D :thumb: Not all the colors; I recently discovered the "rose gold" which looks like copper to me. And I'd still be verrrrrrrrrry interested if someone came out with a rainbowed kayfun. :D

Andria

Andria, you mean like this:

Hey, I Tootle with an iPV Mini2. Loves me some Nauti and/or PT2 with a 1.6-1.8Ω coil from 9-12W :glare:
