I did the experiment, laying it down on its side overnight (I did put some paper towels down, just in case!). Not a single leak! YAY! Fancy that, an rda that doesn't leak!!

Yes they use NR-R-NR coils in all the Kanger/Aspire coil heads so the insulator doesn't burn. It's a lovely taste you get from the burnt rubber.

The Diver has a ceramic cup that sits half way up where the slots are, the coil wires run down the sides to the base in the bottom unit. You don't want the wires in the base heating up or adding a lot of extra resistance so they use NR-R-NR to coil it with.
The Ithaka is the same way the NR wires run down the side of the ceramic cup to the 510 connector which you can see in the center of the picture.
FT has premade coils if you want to get into that type of device.

A lot of them use the NR-R-NR wire as opposed to the premade coils. This allows you to wrap the Kanthal around your wick material and then the NR legs are ready to connect up.Hmm... I'm wondering what sort of pre-made coils they offer, if they might have the 1.3-1.7 Ω that I prefer. Guess I'll have to go peruse 100 pgs of their site, to find out. But actually... I'd have to have one of those Divers in my hands, to know if it would fit. All that is why I haven't already acquired one of those; my coil building skills are fairly limited, and the thing about the NR-R-NR wire just threw me for such a loop, I kinda just put it out of my mind.

It's the same thing Andria, if you prefer to wrap your own - you just want the little nubbins where they were welded to end up at the ends of your coil. Only downside is that once in awhile (not often), they break apart at the weld while you're fiddling with your build.Hmm... -- also PIFed me a couple, a cyan-blue and lavender one, with the lock-rings I like just like the gun-metal one, but with my gunky DIY, cartos might last a few hours -- at most! Figured if I had a sort of "rebuildable carto" maybe I could go back to using those. Who'd a thunk it, an RDA that leaks less than a Kayfun! Simply amazing.
