Just wanted to share my thoughts and a little personal vaping story :|

Me personally I have almost come full circle I think, from starting off with vape pens, to the Nautilus, to the Subtank Mini and then somehow I lost control of what I originally started vaping for, I was swept up with bigger is better, I discarded my Nautilus like a dated old useless tank, threw it in a drawer and forgot about it. I moved through a lot of sub tanks and ended up with the TFV4, vaping at 90 to 100w, 60ml of juice a day, clouding up the room until I had to open windows. I was buying dual battery box mods, 150w mods, 200w mods, having to buy more batteries as they drained quickly. I had to start making my own juice because of the sheer quantity I was getting through. It was ridiculous, I sat down one day and asked myself, what the hell am I doing, this has to stop. My main goal was to stop smoking which I have achieved, not to become some human fog machine, I was under the impression that the flavor was in these bigger tanks, don't get me wrong, the TFV4 does pack some flavor, in a warm thick quite sickly vape. I went back to my Subtank with the 1.2ohm coil, I have never rated those coils, where is the flavor, it was muted. I pulled out my Nautilus a few weeks ago just for the heck of it, put in a new BVC and filled it up, wow, the flavor, it was so good and very satisfying, how did it end up in a drawer, how did I ever get here, I just have no idea. I actually forgot how to do mouth to lung, it was a really strange experience, I'm so used to a full open exhaust venting afc direct to lung hits.

That was one of the reasons I came here, I wanted a different view on things, I don't rebuild, I'm too lazy, so when I heard about the Kabuki tank and listened to Mike talk about it I ordered one to go with the etched Coolfire 4, I haven't received them yet though.
So really I'm more or less back to the beginning of my vaping journey, am I tootle puffer, no, not yet but the way things are going I kinda hope so. Sorry for my ramblings, I'm always joking about on here and just wanted to share that. I feel I'm at some weird vaping junction, not sure where it's going to lead or what direction to take, it's kind of getting me down, all I know is something has to change.

But I have no idea where to get one that's *actually better* -- even if it costs more, that doesn't mean it's necessarily better.

Quite true. Here's a genuine JoyeTech. But, since it's out of stock, here's the charger that I'm using now (generic, but good).

Attention, tootle puffers! I have a great find I wanted to tell y'all about.

I just got a couple of new knucklehead swivel driptips, and one of them is just fantastic for flavor:

skinnyfunnel.jpg

It's quite a bit smaller than I anticipated, and the opening/airflow thru the driptip is quite slender; besides that, it seems to be shaped just right to deliver vapor to exactly the right spot in the mouth for max flavor -- it's really amazing, how good the flavor is, with this thing; I've gotten accustomed to my black delrin knucklehead, which isn't bad at all, but it has a wider bore; this one is more like a tootler's fancy.

skinnyfunnel-onAchilles.jpg

Also, it's very firm inside its little bowl -- no unauthorized spinning and other wandering, it stays right where you set it. Also, although it's flat on the top of the mouthpiece, it's well-rounded and smoothed, no "edges" to irritate the lips. Anyone who's interested in this type to avoid hot atty pops, this one is a real winner -- it's from vapingzone.com.

Man...that's deep. (No jokes)

I feel like sending you a Kayfun with a coil and wick installed.

The cloudy side is seductive (Okay, one small joke ;) )

you really shouldn't put a 26g build on a Kayfun mini 2.1... :D

Did you find out what was causing your resistance issue?

No it would extremely difficult to get the 26g to hold under the tiny screw heads on a Kayfun Lite and probably even the 3.1,
The resistance problem was probably a combination of factors. ONe of them could have been the slight leakage into the base. But it could also be related to something you mentioned. With the 28g there is a limit to how much you can tighten the grub screws without cutting through the wire. So there might have been a little wiggle, almost imperceptible but there nonetheless. I felt more confident with the 26g and the coil is now much more stable. Since when I vape I tend to chain, the ramp up is not a big issue for me and I have ample warmth for me at 16 watts - even 15 will do me nicely (and make @motordude freak out a little less. :) )

I've got 26awg in my KFL Dripper. Heat up is a little slow at 18W but not bad.

I prefer 28awg though

That is the one I use the most. I also use ones that came with a 7.99 iJoy evod blister pack. Works the same. I actually use one of the elcheapos to charge some 18650 batteries with.

Thank you for sharing, Rixsta. Cloud chasing gets sticky and expensive fast, and I don't see much point in blowing bigger clouds than I am currently.

Now go to fasttech and order the following items:
2155209-5.jpg

1100mAh, VV EVOD--$4 in real money. I don't know how much they want in British pounds, but probably more than that.

1986402-4.jpg

Smoktek Mini Trophy Tank, 1.8ohm. Great tanks. Buy a few of them in different colors for flavor experimentation.

At $6, you can buy four of them for less than the price of a subtank mini.

But even a tootle puffer needs a honkin' rig for at home only. So also buy these:

2046210-3.jpg

An X6 clone for $8.

But you need a badass topper as well:
2304102-1.jpg

A Subtank Nano clone for $11. They are exactly right for the X6 clone battery. They also leak just as well as an authentic Kanger tank. I found that they leak the best when you use the OCC subohm coils. They don't leak at all if you use Protank coils. I like these:

1425902-6.jpg

2.5ohm, $3 a 5 pack. Nobody has to know that your Subtank Nano is sporting a 2.5ohm coil. It can be our dirty little secret.

Happy tootling!

This is you learning. I`m guessing you are a life long learner, a good thing I think though you will drive some folks crazy. You will find your way. (now that you are not building batteries :D)

I expect a few of us have gone to far, I did.

Yes I have had 28g cut just as you make that last turn of the screw on a perfectly mounted coil on the Rose.

As for Kayfun's
A little work with a Triangular, small Rattail or Riffler file will put a little channel near the screw holes. This will assist in trapping any wire gauge easily, just pull the wire taut and tighten the screw down. No more searching for flat bottom screws. I have done this to all my Kayfun bases except for the 3.1 since I do use its built in wire holes.

I went too far twice.:shock: That's enough for me. Back to my subamping research...

You need one of the chips I am going to put in my planned mod. it goes down to .7 volts.
Excellent for subamping.

4.1 ohms 32 ga 14 wraps on a 1/16 bit at 3.7 volts gives .95 amps and is in the green for heat index.

By the way, I know that I promised everybody science, but I'm running behind. I took pics, and I'm waiting for them to be developed. I just want everybody to know that I'm really going to give you science, not just tease you and then put the science on the ModWompers thread. They already have enough science.

But just as soon as I do some more experiments and collect data and stuff like that, and, of course, get my pics developed (it's hard to find labs that will develop digital photos), I will give you science. Maybe so much science that I will have to start a science thread for tootle puffers only.

You have me salivating. :w00t:

I never considered the possibilities. It might actually be possible to subvolt, subamp, subohm and subwatt all at once!

I'm not sure that you could actually vaporize anything at .9W, but it's worth a try. That's what scientific experimentation is all about. That, and sharing your findings with others, of course. ;)

Develop digital pics = plug in the micro-USB and download.
