Thank you, I have gone way too far and it happened so quick, I know what the start of it was now, I remember walking into a vape shop with my vape pen to buy some juice and the place was full of vaper, I saw these guys dripping and blowing clouds, I hadn't long quit smoking and I was finding it difficult, it wasn't satisfying enough, I thought more vapor maybe the answer, to a point it was as it really helped me to stop but I have ended up going to the extreme now, I have beaten the cigarettes, I don't crave them or think about smoking any more. Maybe the journey was necessary.

I was going to write some brilliant words of wisdom but it's only 5am and I have only had one cup of tea. :p
So in a nutshell I believe your journey was necessary at the time you took it.

Oooooo remember the excitement when wall phones were released with long cords that means you could walk around
I remember going to the AT&T Store (this was maybe 1978) to pick out my first phone. You couldn't buy one, you had to rent them from the phone company. Touch tone phones still cost more than dial phones. It also cost extra for:

*Longer cords (standard was 3 ft)
*Head rests
*Colors other than black.

Being poor at the time, I walked out of there with a work order for a technician to come down to my apartment and install a standard black dial phone with a 3' cord. I think they had it installed within six weeks.

and the concentration when dialing because if you made a mistake you had to start all over again. I remember the old telephone book and you pressed a button and it flipped open with all your tel numbers in, I used to get told off for playing with it..(not much as changed there tbh)

I remember when we got a corded TV converter ... not having to get up to change the channel ... awesome.

My couch potato career really took off after that.

Remember top-load VCRs? A friend of mine had one, with one of the earliest "remotes" -- which couldn't do anything except pause and start -- and it had a cord!

The journey is always necessary, it's the destination that's optional.

This was years after betamax was a dinosaur -- my uncle actually bought one of those when they first came out! Bbut my friend's was VHS, just VERY early VHS, before they even THOUGHT of front-load.

We actually still have a couple of functional VHS boxes, for our old tapes. But when they got old and became unable to program to start at a certain time, we switched to DVR, through whoever was our TV provider. It's actually a lot better, because if a normally 1-hr show has a 2-hr episode, the DVR knows about it, and will record the whole show.

Now I feel old :(

What really makes you feel old is when you quote a famous Beatles lyric -- say, "koo koo kachoob"... and get nothing but blank looks and crickets.

I remember when I spent a fortune to call long distance. Also, a science of tomorrow type show that showed phones with screens where people could see each other.

What happened? The internet got rid of long distance and beat the phone companies to video calling.

Thank God for the internet!
