My Dad died of lung cancer and I too continued to smoke.
Just goes to show how serious a tobacco addiction really is.

I wonder how many dual users are simply using the wrong strength of eliquid?
My hunch is that it is almost all of them.
Right, people that have never smoked couldn't understand how in the world I could still smoke but, it is so very addicting.

I've often thought that it was the 48mg/ml Vuse cartridges that kept me from being a dual user. As bad as they tasted, I do credit them for my success that first three weeks.

I was the other way around, which is why I believe that in some cases, the problem is that the liquid is too strong.

The first ecig I tried was back in 2003 (again in an attempt to be able to 'smoke' in prohibited areas) and it was a 48mg one.
I figured that since I smoked a lot, I'd want a nice strong one.

Turned out it just gave me palpatations and made me feel nauseous, and I threw it away.

When I tried again, I used 12mg liquid, and although it wasn't as strong as the cigarettes I smoked, it didn't make me feel unwell.
All I had to do was vape it for a little longer until I absorbed the amount of nicotine I needed, and that's what worked for me.

I got to spend some time enjoying it like I would a cigarette, and it only took a couple of minutes longer to get my nicotine.

Vaping slightly weaker liquid allows you to creep up to your satisfaction level and ensures that you don't overshoot it either.

Dual user for five months (didn’t know about ECF) before figuring out how to get over “The Hump.”

Total vaper 3.5 years and damned happy/proud about it. Who wouldn’t be after over four decades of desperately wanting to quit and endless FDA approved failures? BT/BP/FDA can kiss my dainty, wrinkled ..... :D

Um, neither? I have about 1 cig a month (unlike smokers, this gives me a "special weapon" to use when I feel really stressed out that is not my norm). Technically that's dual use, but "dual use but only 1 a month" which is a long, long way from what most people imagine when they hear "dual use" which would average 50/50. Another form of dual use is only vaping when smoking isn't allowed. I think the term for that is "smoker".

That's a great possibility. Ive tried 24mg,18mg and 12mg I've tried max vg, 50/50 and 70/30 pg vg ratio I've had the istick 30w istick mini ego endura t18 and the istick basic. I've only really liked the endura. My issue is finding the right juice and my perfect sweet spot. I hope to find it soon as I've been on this on again off again relationship for 2 years :/

    Total vaper since mid-December 2013.

I didn't intend to be a total vaper. I only intended to try to cut back some because I didn't think I could quit. But after going from 40 a day to 4 on my first day of vaping, I began to reconsider what might be possible.

Agreed! Or wrong device. I dual used that first month until I got a mech mod\RDA combo. That was the trick for me. Huge quantity of vapor and massive throat hit, comparable to a full lung inhale off a grape swisher.

When I transitioned, I learned it was symptom of needing actual tobacco when I started vaping myself nic-sick trying to get something that wasn't there. I did try WTA ejuice, it helped me go from 2-3 a day to 1, but I could have used it more earlier.

Re: my previous post on smoking about 1 a month, it is outside of any kind of habit.

August 2014: Dual User for first week. Total Vaper for fourteen months.

November 2015: Stopped using nicotine for two months but still vaped.

New Year's Day 2016: Got drunk and started smoking again. As I had opened a two-ounce pack, I had to finish it! (Idiot!!!) Tried but couldn't switch back... the pull of cigarettes was too strong :(

July 2016: Had a heart attack and smoked last cigarette as I was waiting for the ambulance/ paramedic to arrive... Used NRT for the two days I was stuck in hospital attached to a machine but as soon as I was allowed outside, I vaped. Total Vaper ever since
