Addiction is ethically neutral meaning it is neither right nor wrong. It just is. What you do to satisfy your addictions or whether you choose to satisfy then at all is what has the ethical consequences. Everyone has an addiction. It could be fairly said that most of us are addicted to living. Just look at the lengths we will go to stay alive. I challenge you to find the difference in a addict's behavior. The only difference is the object of the desire. Addiction has a lot of negative connotations but, frankly I just think it's part of being human. In fact, I think it's just part of being alive. We happen to be the most complicated animals on this planet. Therefore, our addictions are more complex and pronounced. It's what we do about them that counts.

I'm an addict. I think we all are and probably have addictive personalities and are probably addicted to more than one thing. I'm down to coffee, vaping and exercise. If you asked me 10 years ago my answer would have been much different but yea, I'm addicted. Nicotine is addictive. I'm OK with that. I don't know if it's right or wrong, just a part of who I am.

Heck yes, I'm an addict. I'm actually addicted to two things...nicotine and scooters. When people ask me, "Are you worried that that e-cigarette thingie will hurt you? I mean, have they proven it's safe?", I can't help but laugh. No, I'm not worried. To paraphrase Butch Cassidy, it's the fall from my scooter that will kill me.

Thanks for your input so far guys. Its very interesting seeing all the different points of view.

For myself I don't feel that I am an addict. I generally don't have an addictive personality. I am a fidgety person though and have trouble being still (yeah that was sort of redundant). I started out enjoying smoking and then it became something I just did because I'd been doing it. I still enjoyed the action but it didn't taste good and it didn't feel good anymore either.

It took me awhile to finally decide I was going to try vaping...obviously I did and I enjoy it and that's why I do it because I like to. I am only a little over 1 1/2 months in and I go without a vape for 6 or 7 hrs (awake) and it not bother me. But when I'm on here or watching cameras it gives me something to do with my hands and sometimes I vape just for the sheer pleasure of that long slow drag.

Since I do it because I enjoy it rather than because I can't not do it I don't feel that I'm an addict....however if I'm wrong I'm okay with that because I'm not hurting anyone and my life doesn't revolve around it.

HOWEVER in a way I am an addict because if I had the money I' have 20 pvs by now...call it a controlled addiction if you will.

I think anything you do consistantly over x period of time regardless of the consequences (law, health, whatever your talking about) pretty much is the definition of an addiction.

If I occasionally eat pot pies and I'm told there is a chance I'm going to develop a huge goiter on my neck, I'm probably not going to eat another pot pie. Not an addict.

If I eat pot pies fairly regularly and I hear about and rationalize that the goiter probably won't happen to me or I take out the peas and still eat the pot pie, I'm an addict.

wait whats wrong with pot pies?

See addiction as something you can't deal without...so if they thought of All your batteries dying, or your charger going puff, or running out of your favor or all e-liquid.
Gives you a queezy feelings, where you want to grab your CC and purchase back ups for your back ups and backups....Your Addicted.

Personally I'm Very addicted to the habit, the hand to mouth, and breath in vapor out....the chemicals not so much.
While I can tell when there isnt Nic or is to much, it really doesnt bother me to Not have Nic in my ejuice.

There is much more to a smoking/vaping addiction but as far as I know nicotine is one of the few true physically addictive substances with physical urges and withdrawal symptoms second only to opiates in it's severity.

Food for thought...

Nicotine - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Technically, nicotine is not significantly addictive, as nicotine administered alone does not produce significant reinforcing properties. However, after coadministration with an MAOI, such as those found in tobacco, nicotine produces significant behavioral sensitization, a measure of addiction potential.

Hi! My name is WoH and I'm an addict...

I love my nicotine! Anybody lays a hand on my nicotine and look out! Same goes for caffeine. If I don't have my nicotine and caffeine first thing in the morning, it's gonna get messy!

Nobody wants to see me when I have had my nicotine and caffeine. Nobody.

I guess I'm really addicted, huh? I used to think that I loved smoking and I couldn't live without my cigarettes. Now I think I can't live without my PV and nic juice, but you know what? I probably could if I really wanted to.

Addiction can also be viewed as a continued involvement with a substance or activity despite the negative consequences associated with it. Pleasure and enjoyment would have originally been sought, however over a period of time involvement with the substance or activity is needed to feel normal. [1] Some psychology professionals and many laymen now mean 'addiction' to include abnormal psychological dependency on such things as gambling, food, sex, pornography, computers, internet, work, exercise, idolizing, watching TV or certain types of non-pornographic videos, spiritual obsession, self-injury and shopping.

Yep. I got them all covered.

Well, maybe not exercise.....

Addiction is mostly a state of mind :?:
unless you are talking about substance abuse....which by the way, started with a state of mind.

(unless your mother or father abused substances at copulation or during pregnancy, this would exclude the father of course, and you would not be addicted as an adult but might have altered chemistry due to the parents addiction)
....addiction has to do with thought patterns, environment, and emotional influences in your life...which is why the addiction (or substance) you are dealing with (not meant to single any one out, but meant in general) doesn't effect your friend, so and so (they can take it or leave it...its more of a casual thing for them) which go's to the old adage "to understand any individual, you must first walk a mile in their shoes"....I have not lived your life..and you, not mine, there is no way for me to understand your thought process, and vice-versa.....

My thoughts in short..do I think we are addicts....I can only speak for myself....YES..
