I sort of did this. I lost a lot of weight just by keeping my calorie intake @ or under a 1000 calories a day. I figured if the ave calorie intake(over all) was 1200 calories for a person my size and bone structure I would do less. I lost 1 - 2 lbs a day, and when I reach a plateau and stopped losing then I added walking to my routines and that started the weight loss right back up. It wasn't fun(until I had to buy all new clothers.lol) but doable.

:)

Under 1200 calories per day is never recommended, but I have seen some very short women who needed to resort to this to lose weight. For most people, 1200 is the bare minimum intake recommended. I had quite a bit of weight to lose, so I could lose weight at a higher calorie limit and only had to eat at 1200 per day to lose the last few pounds. I do not envy shorter people who need to go lower!

I don’t think this is a fact? But maybe. But bottom line, if you calculate your TDEE (total calories your body burns in day), and eat less than that, you WILL lose weight. No matter your sex or age. It’s just science. I am a middle aged woman (oh god how did that happen?! Lol) and I and many others lost weight in this way. It is not impossible, but can be difficult.

Not sure if it’s exactly twice, but more certainly due to muscle mass.

I too am middle aged and have chronic health issues. If you metabolism is working properly, for your age, it can be done. However, that’s difficult to calculate when your metabolism has crashed. I tried 1200, 1000, and 800 calories diets and one pound in a month. So it is not about calories in, calories out for me. It’s just more complicated than that. I’m approaching it from the angle that I need to build more muscle, eat healthy yes, but also get my body to use what nutrients it gets.

The calorie counter app I used included build, weight and sex into consideration when it said how many calories.
I forget how much it said for me. I just figured soda added as much as I needed to lose from my average intake and switched to water. Been pretty steady at about 15lbs over where I should be (15lbs is a flare cushion, that much can go away quickly).
I just don't want to be more than 15lbs over because if they ever put me on prednisone I could be a blimp just as fast.

Not sure if it’s exactly twice, but more certainly due to muscle mass.

Muscle mass is exactly why men tend to lose weight easier than women. Muscle burns calories even while at rest/sleeping. So it stands to reason, the more you have, the more calories you burn even while doing nothing. This is also why cardio alone is still difficult to lose weight. A good balance of cardio and strength training can yield better results over time. If you don't have time for both, then I would say start with building some muscle mass first to increase your all day/night calorie burning, then switch to cardio. Also you have to eat protein to build muscle mass, so low/no protein diets can actually hurt exercise results.

While building muscle mass, learn to love tuna. Tuna is gram for gram one of the highest protein, lowest fat content foods you can eat, making it a muscle building super food. So eat a lot of it while building. It should be important to remember that muscle weighs more than fat. So during the muscle building phase, you may actually gain weight, according to the scale. Just remember this is the "good weight" that will help you lose the fat later.

Agree with everything you said. I had some gut issues that resulted in eating very little meat, so it was kind of futile at that point trying to gain muscle. Found a plant based protein shake, which has made a huge difference. I eat mostly chicken and tuna, but now I can eat beef and pork again which is great. And I make my own Greek yogurt which is really high in protein without any additives or preservatives.

I’ve lost a couple pounds, not much, but I’ve lost inches, and that’s the important thing.

I've lost 16 pounds over the last several weeks. I've gone from a 38 waist to 36 and heading toward 34, which is my optimal size.

I've vaped 60pg/40vg for the last 8+ years and my weight has slowly edged upward, but it wasn't the vaping ... it was the snacking. Once I got my mindset right it was easy to play push away from the table. I choose my snacks and stop eating during meals when I begin to sense the full feeling approaching.

I do a one hour plus workout several times a week that includes 5 sets with free weights, a couple of sets on the Total Gym, and a 30 minute bike ride.

No offense intended, but do you see a naturopath? Sounds like something a Naturopath would say (they can be your PCP in AZ, aiiie). Okay, to be fair, sounds like something a BAD naturopath would say.

I have been struggling to gain weight ever since I quit smoking. I could See Drinking VG for weight gain but Oh My No Thanks, plus I have a better purpose for it.

I'm not going to argue this one, not too much point and what was needed to be said, has probably been said.

If you could lose weight from quitting vaping and stopping inhaling PG and VG WHILE ALSO quitting nic, I will say the power of placebo is STRONG in you. It's not exactly an insult, I harness placebo whenever I freaking can, because it's awesome! No side effects! Etc.

They did this study once where hotel maids were 50/50 split and one half considered their work exercise, while the other considered their work "work." Guess who lost weight?

The mind is a powerful thing, so hey if it's working for you, fantastic AND you aren't vaping nic so unless Alzheimer's is really big in your family, good for you. You got healthier by QUITTING a harm reduction method, bonus win!

I really want you to come over to my home and placebo my body into thinking there is No Harm in a cigarette. LOL. That's on the ANTI's won with their darn "Look at these awful pictures of terrible smokers who have been struck down by "X". I 100% believed it to be harmful from my FIRST cigarette I just really thought I could quit real easy at age 18 and I'm now 44 and OMG, I guess my "quit easy" placebo was not STRONG enough but I sure wish it had been.

The moral of the story: congrats. I seriously believe in placebo though and tell myself all the time I'm healthier than I probably am. So far it's working .LOL.

Your body does not burn PG or VG as fat if it is inhaled. Only if you eat it.

PG has 4 calories per gram or around a ML of it, so the how much of it are you vaping anyway? Even if it was used as calories from vaping you would need to vape a lot of it to make any real difference.

VG has 4 calories per ML. Again how much are you vaping?

I tried convincing my GI CNS of that, "I can't lie to you." Uhh, yes you can!
I've placebo'ed my way through bad generic brands before. I placebo my way to not taking pills by convincing myself I have. It doesn't work with all the meds but I'm all for using the power of the mind.

PG and VG are both carbohydrates for practical purposes and both have 4 calories per gram. I believe grams and milliliters are the same for these two. I vape about 8 grams per day, 4 x 8 = 32 calories. But wait, there's a problem. The body cannot do anything with carbohydrate until it is broken down into glucose. The lungs don't have the enzymes to do that, only the digestive system. Inhaled PG or VG can't be contributing anything to caloric intake.

In the past year my weight went from 170 to 144, waist size from 34" to31", close to what I was in highschool. I'm lean. I could wear 30" jeans but then my Note 4 and Pico would be hard to pocket. The first 10 pounds went away by eliminating sweets and snacks. The last 15 came off in about 3 months on a keto diet plus exercise. I vaped all the way along. These days my exerise includes walking and vaping does not interfere.

The notion that vaping can cause weight gain is silly.

I''m not battling to lose weight when I am more than half way to hitting 500 pounds and my ultimate goal of having to wash myself with a rag on a stick.

BAH! Forget the stick. Your goal should be to get big enough that you need a hot young nurse to come bathe you. :D
