Can the plastic cap on the cartos be taken off so that you can pour juice in? Or that's not how is supposed to be done? I ask a lot I know

Yeah that rubber cap comes off. Just try a paper clip or some tweezers. If your going drip juice down there try to not get it in the center hole, about 20 drops should do it.

Yup just drip a couple of drops, rotate drip a couple more. The goal is even distribution of the liquid, you want the the top of the poly fill to look slushy.
It does take some time for the liquid to saturate thoroughly through the fiber filler. Give it a few minutes sitting battery end down to let everything settle in. Keep in mind that a carto holds about 1ml which is about how much as will fit in the end covers. There is a video on the SI site showing how to fill a carto -

Yup - gets frustrating having the toys that don't co-operate!
You may want to stick the battery end back in the rubber cap in case you have a little leak. Don't recall atm if the video shows it.
