Attack of the (Kayfun v4) Clones!

I've assembled my K4 both ways, I've placed it on the bottom of #8 and I've placed it inside the base of #5. I don't see that it matters. It removes metal to metal contact between #5 and #8 and it ends up in the same spot regardless of which surface you place it on initially during assembly.

When mine wobbles it is because #9 has worked loose.

Hmm the plot thickens! I took the good one apart and one thing I noticed, in my wonky one that seal (along with the insulator for the 510 in the lower base) is lodged in there tight to #5, where on the good one it just falls right out. Not sure if that matters or not. When I took out the 510 on the good one I almost lost that insulator but luckily I noticed it hit the floor..

Don't worry about the 510 screws insulator. If # 9 is tight and there is still too much wobble PTFE rings particularly #7 isn't thick enough. Just might want to live with that. Leakage out the air holes without flooded coil deck is going to be # 16 o-ring.

Black Vampire Tobeco KF V4 is waiting, lovely & sepulchral in her box. Those vapeomg guys in LasVegas are fast. After all the ritual washing, alcohol soak, threads & toothpaste, she seems to be all there. I coiled her up, 28g 7/64" 1.4 ohm, but I don't want to offend the Tobeco gods, so I'm waiting for the proper black four nines mech mod - due Saturday - before finishing the build, gotta have that black mod to match.



I love that glow, from center to the outside.

Both my boys now have their KF V4s, no excuse for cigs. My wife is a sharp one, she picked up the older boy's rig and was ooh'ing over it, blowing clouds, reinforcing the cool factor. There's a chance they may peer-pressure their buddies into vaping rather than having the buddies peer-pressure them into smoking cigs. That's where the cool factor of a rig comes in. NEED that cool factor to win.

I wanna know, am I the only ECF'er who puts the KF V4 together and is repeatedly startled to find it "open", "no atomizer", only to slap forehead ... "the spring, Bubby, the spring!"

I gave my son my Caravella clone, and now I'm short. How many ECF'ers are short on mods, vs. how many are short on atties?

Why does the K4 seems to be backwards on coil placement, what i mean by that is, normally its closer to the airhole the more flavour and further/higher away more throat hit, this seems to be totally opposite, but im finding the higher i go yes it tastes better, but it starts to struggle and goes dry, bring it down and well it drys my throat out with a few pulls and leaves a nasty taste - just a random thought i had a moment ago thats all

There was a lot of interesting material about coil effects when the Genesis atomizer was first proposed, the guy who invented it was tabulating vapor droplet size with different tightness of coil over weave of mesh, and resulting throat hit vs flavor. I've forgotten it all now, worth looking up.

So you say on the V4, how high to get optimal flavor?

I keep my coils as close as I can to air hole on mine for best flavor. Might have to try raising it on my next rebuilds to see if there is any change in flavor. Always kept it close with the lites also.

Yup, vapeomg is fast & great price, my black beauty came the 3rd day.

And yup, can't anger the vape Gods putting a black v4 on anything besides a black mod. Blasphemy! Mine sits on my black mini clooper.

And yup, you'll love your v4 on a 4nine, one of my ss v4s has a home on my ss 4nine. Run it with 350s for a perfect small & discrete pocket mod when out & about. Have another v4 on a stingray x, I prefer the 4nine switch though.

I have my coil so it's fully above the chimney in the V4 and can be wicked with the chimney fully in place. Also helps with air turbulence when you pull the coil back from the air inlet.

That high??? I will try one as high as I can get it. I like flavor more than anything else with vaping.

Not on purpose. Some are slightly higher than others, havent really noticed a difference. For me, largest difference was increasing from 2mm to 3mm ID coil. Have read somewhere, probably here, a higher coil will be more flavor/less vape ... something I want to try, with my wife, daughter. & I vaping Kayfuns, room immediately gets foggy with windows closed during this cold weather. LoL.

Too high of a coil and this thing burns my lips. I'll stick with the good old KFL 1-2mm style..

Not on purpose. Some are slightly higher than others, havent really noticed a difference. For me, largest difference was increasing from 2mm to 3mm ID coil. Have read somewhere, probably here, a higher coil will be more flavor/less vape ... something I want to try, with my wife, daughter. & I vaping Kayfuns, room immediately gets foggy with windows closed during this cold weather. LoL.

see 3mm is a perfect macro coil... micros are those tiny ones that can barely be wicked effectively. Wrap a nice 3mm coil, wick it nice and full/fluffy and pull it up a good 2-3mm from the hole and watch what happens. Vapes MUCH better than coils stuck right down ontop of the hole... which makes no sense whatsoever in my opinion... and i have NO idea how that "myth" started.

Christ! What resistance are you wrapping to? A single coil like intended, no? How long of drags are you taking and at what wattage? I have my coils in my V4s pretty damn high up all at 1.4ohm and can get them up to 18 watts (kills the flavor any higher)... my stock drip tips never even get warm.
