KTMRider (and anyone else who owns the black Tobeco), how is the black finish holding up? Is it powdercoated/ anodized or is it painted? I can't wait to order one come February.

Finish looks just like my black Ehpro KFL+ and v2's. I would guess it's anodized. It should hold up just fine.

Be careful with the black one , China paint . would not trust it.

No issues with it. It's anodized, not painted.

It was the coloring from the top cap that was anodized, the coloring leached into his wick .

Anodizing doesn't "leach" its color. It's chemically bonded to the metal.

I think the term anodizing applies to nonferrous metals only. When aluminum is anodized a layer of aluminum oxide is formed on the surface, splitting hairs I believe it is electron bonded rather then chemical bonded. Steel and stainless steel can not be anodized.

My black Magma is PVD (not EDP) coated and it is one tough, beautiful and well bonded coating.

Ops sorry the Magma is PVD (physical vapor deposition) coated

Carry one! :)

Its electrostatically bonded actually (I THINK that's the right term). You're basically running electrical current through it while its sitting in an electrolytic acid bath.. Kinda like a highly corrosive ultrasonic cleaning.. And yep it'll dissolve steel in a heartbeat..

Too much cotton
I am using Rayon, and as it turns out not enough.

I would check the juice flow holes in the deck and chimney/bell. mine was obstructed on both when it arrived. cleaned them out and it works a treat now :)
I checked the holes, and all was good there. I did have a burr or two when I first got it, but those were cleaned out.
Can you take some pics of your wick?

Priming it works like the KFL+ but I have to cover all 4 airholes and draw for a bit but then a gigantic bubble will come up.
This initially helped, and I was able to get through my day at work doing a prime whenever the dry hits came back.

I get a lot of bubbles with mine, but I also like to give mine a quick shake right after opening the juice control. I get a lot of bubbles to rise up that way.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I got home from work and a friend of mine that has a bunch of Kayfuns stopped over. We pulled the deck out and re-wicked it. Turns out I had the wick cut a little too short and was a little light on the Rayon. I knew it was operator error, or like we used to say "short between the headset".
All is good now :vapor:

Just checking does anyone have leaking issues with the tobeco version? I have two and they both leak. It seems I see more and more posts like 'the tobeco is great'. And this is why I bought the tobeco version and I'm glad others are working but at the same time its like .......

Sorry to hear you are having leaking issues. I have used the metal and the glass midsection on my Tobeco and neither setup has had any leaks.

Did anything happen to the #16 oring during the cleaning?

I was playing around with my new mutation x v3 on a IPV2X last night, then a while later I put my kayfun 4 clone back on it. I forgot to change my wattage, kayfun 4 at 60w, only for a second, but that was not pleasant, hot nasty burned cotton taste...mmmm.

I don't think I damaged anything, other than my wick, but I really need to stop doing that.

Also check the #6 oring! It seems like I was the only one with the wrong oring placed there by the manufacturer. Go figure haha.

I think if you have a seep/leak at the seam above the air flow ring, it's the #6 oring.

If you get leaks from the airholes, or gurgling, or even at the seams below the air flow ring, the #16 is the issue.

Assuming there's no user error of course

I think everyone has done it at some point :). I fired a k4 at 50W last week. New mod with the sx300 chip and I was trying to figure out how to work the gravity sensor. At least I wasn't vaping it, but that brief moment it fired smelled nasty.

My #16 o ring on the FT was leaking so slowly, for the first 24 hours I wasn't certain I had a leak. Replacing it did do the trick.

Very happy with my Tobeco :)

Heh, thanks, at least I know I'm not the only one.

I'll give it a go, I'm guessing that will fix it up.

Speaking of Tobeco...USPS was two days faster than their estimated delivery date when I tracked it, so..
