Can't see how that would have been an issue. Before I broke it down to clean again it moved fine. The only thing I can think is the hot water caused the o-rings to swell.

I've found that completely washing these in dish soap and / or alcohol causes the o-rings to be a bit sticky (lack of machine oil lubrication). Putting a drop or two of eliquid on them before re-installing them makes everything run a bit smoother.

Ya about 4 mils But it don't last long :) another note the wicks on my old Kayfuns I would change out every tank, for the crisp taste, with the V4 I can go 5 or 6 tanks on a wick. Amazing Atty :)

What are you using for wicks? I'm still using my favorite silica. I'm on my forth refill on each of my KF4's and still going strong. I'm waiting for some Rayon to come in the mail that was offered to me from another member from here to try out.

I haven't really had much chance to see how long I can go on a single wick (been having too much fun rebuilding and trying new things), but I will say that they do go through fluid! The only tank I have that is more thirsty is my Lemo, but that's running a subohm nickle build at 30W :p

Still had a machine oil taste after an alcohol soak and Dawn soak and scrub. I was not able to get the base broken down at all on mine. So I boiled some water and let all the parts soak for about 10 minutes. I had already bought some 91% isopropyl alcohol because I had previously used 50%. Put the base in a swished it around for about 5 minutes. Then put the rest of the parts in and let them soak overnight. Took them out this morning and rinsed and brushed them. Only a very slight smell of oil in the base now. Put it together and decided to use a strong tasting, darker juice than I used the first fill. Hoping that would help deaden the taste. So far so good. No machine oil taste at all. The only bad part is for some reason my JC was jammed and would not open all the way. Took some major fiddling but finally got it to work. Dunno how or what I did but it worked.

I did see a post that brings to light a good point. They are shipping these things assembled with the oil residue still on them. And it is having time to soak into the o-rings on the slow boat from China. I may eventually just replace all of the o-rings with one of the kits that they sell.

You really need to get that bottom assembly apart there is a lot of surface area to hold the machine oil and your air is passing through there. When you remove the 510 the 10/11 part should fall out. Then you can get a screwdriver on #9.
I put my parts with the O rings (removed) in a bowel covered them in white vinegar and then dropped a couple of teaspoons of baking soda in. There will be a reaction so make sure your bowl has some room for the bubbles. Put it in the sink in case it bubbles over. I let the parts soak in that solution for about an hour then scrubbed with a hot Dawn solution. Just has to be hot not boiling. Your boiling may have softened the delrin and caused it to stick. It only has a max temp rating of 200F. The O-rings if they are Nitrile are good to 226F.
Use some pipe cleaners to scrub 14 and a bottle brush or something that can get up into 26 and scrub it.

Hope this helps. These clones are more trouble than the their worth.

I just built a 1.2Ω on mine out of 29ga Kanthal. It's a spaced coil and so far, it my favorite setup!

I use 3 pieces of 3mm silica wrapped together with 30g 5 times evenly spaced. I find larger diameter coils taste better and keeps the wick wet for chain vaping.

I run the V4 same as the KFL+'s 1.2 Ohms and cotton wicks

I have tried all most every kind of wicking material.( cotton rayon bamboo silica) The Organic cotton sheets are the best IMO
So easy to make perfect wicks every time

I wish I could get it apart. I have tried every suggesting possible. I just don;t want to end up damaging it in the process. I think my second bath may have taken care of it. The taste has faded now.

And IMO this Kv4 in general is more trouble than it's worth. Outside of the better airflow and easier fill, I am not seeing much benefit over my KFL's or Lemos. And I hate the smaller juice capacity. I doubt I will get another one.

My recommendation would be to simply order the m1.6 cheesehead screws. Easily found on eBay or McMaster. Wider and completely flat at the bottom. I use it to capture Mundy Magic wires with those :)

Yeah I bought a pack of 25 on ebay for under $5 shipped. Seller afh_fasteners M1.6 x 3mm allen. I have converted all of my Kayfuns and Lemos over to allens.

It is complicated but it's designed so you never have to get that complicated for normal use. I never take my base apart at all. My juice control works perfectly and I can toss the entire thing in my pocket without worrying about it leaking on me. Refilling is also a 30 second affair, which is amazing to me.

The only thing I really have to tinker with now is getting my build right to get the best flavor out of this. Other than the quick juice consumption I have no issues at all with mine.

Thanks I didn't know what size I needed so it the seller made it easy. I will look for some of the ones you recommended and see which works best for me. The ones I ordered coming from UK so it will be a week or two before I see them. Maybe I will drive up to Wisconsin to see if I can find some of these cheese heads. ;^)

The seemingly complicated design is what was putting me off on ordering one of these. I mean, Kayfuns are "classics" so I really kind of one want version but was looking more at a 3.1 or KFL+ because it just seemed a lot simpler to deal with. This comment made it seem a bit less intimidating, though, so maybe I should pick one up? I'm only really working with a Lemo right now (which is great for me) so my rebuilding experience is pretty limited. Would I have a lot of problems with it do you think?
