Got it canceled and reordered. $108.87 with air mail. Should have it in a month :( but you can't beat the price! :thumb:

That is very very very slow for AirMail?!?
I was joking (I hope)! I'm hoping it will be similar to slowtech time: 10-14 days. They mailed it today.

 Really good experience purchasing from MTMStore. Excellent, prompt CS, same day shipping. If you can wait just a week or so (airmail) you can have a kayfun 5 for just $108! If you want next day DHL Express you'll pay about $134. You'll have to register an account and then email them to be placed in the Non-VAT group before you can order and avoid the tax. They also have a nice rewards points program.

So they mentioned this "solution" then nothing for a couple weeks here. Several of us are waiting to hear any comments regarding it. :)

I tried the mesh last night but made it a bit too tight and once vapor went through and a bit of condensation hit, it got even tighter. Haha. I'm sure the mesh could work, but I'm anxious for the "Solution".

I will mention that the mesh brought the flavor right back to where I'd expect it from a kayfun for tight MTL. :)

In the German forums, we have a tough discussion on how the airflow below the coil affects the taste. Many vapers are convinced that a stronger airflow produces a better taste. (until now me too)

I wanted to find out which of my Kayfuns tasted the best. The Kayfun 4 with the 4S kit? The Kayfun Mini V3 without airflow screw? Or the new Kayfun 5 on its 2* setting? I would have expected the following "taste"-ranking..

1: KM3
2: K4 4S
3: K5

I therefore wicked them all three with the same coil (Kanthal 0,35mm, 7 x 2,5mm =~ 1Ohm)

Coil:

I used the candidates parallel with my every day liquid for a week at 18W.

But astonishingly the K5 and the K4 tasted more or less the same, while the taste of the KM3 could not keep up with them. (It was still very good though and if I had not had them side by side, I would have never been able to notice a difference ;-))

There is nothing more subjective than taste :)
You probably know this already and have another reason for it, but there really is no reason to remove the airflow screw in the km3 for max airflow. Once the screw is backed out a certain amount, the airflow cannot increase beyond that. I was going to take mine completely out but once I seen how it worked, I just kept it in just to keep it and never loose it.

I've always felt the same about the KFL+/KFL+v2 devices.

I think your right, but it's been a couple years since I vaped my kfl v2. I know I bored out most of my kfl's and even doing that, it didn't add alot. But for sure on the km3, because when I did my video on it, I took the whole base assembly off and seen exactly how it worked. I found if you keep the airflow screw touching a short protruding 510 pin screw, the airflow is maxed out.

KFL's airholes are through-bored unlike the KM3's. Thus a completely removed screw makes a KFL airIER per my experience.

I used to think that too...

But then I realized the flat bottom face of the KFL, sitting flat on the mod, leaves nowhere for air to get to that airflow adjustment hole...which means only the side air hole can take in air.

Unless, of course, you've got it on a mod that allows for bottom airflow atties, like a P3/P3 top cap Provari.

That's good to know, because I had the air adjustment screw backed off and that 510 pin was waaaaay out there.

I'll just run that sucker back in now, excuse me..

So far, and this is likely due to the world governments losing their minds over vaping, but I haven't seen a lot of aftermarket goodies for the KF5 yet.

Feels like there were more for the KF4 at this point.

Maybe that's because the KF4 uses the same threading as the rest of the "regular" sized Kayfun family...

The KF5 uses new thread sizes.

Guess this post nullifies itself...and I'll just wait patiently for new accessories!

My favorite coil for the Kayfun V5 (and btw. also for the KM3 and K4) is a simple spaced Kanthal 0,35mm (AWG 27) 7x coil with a diameter of 2,5mm at ~ 1 ohm.

1. Wind about 10 wraps around a 2,5mm pin
kbuild1.jpg

2. Pull on both ends to space the coil
kbuild2.jpg

3. Pull off wraps on both ends to have 7 wraps left
kbuild3.jpg

4. Attach the coil between notch and Screw
kbuild4.jpg

5. Center the coil over the air hole with a distance of 1-2 mm
kbuild5.jpg

6. Insert the cotton, leaving ~ 1,5 cm on both sides
kbuild6.jpg

7. Bend the cotton-ends down and place them in the pouches
kbuild7.jpg

8. Put some drops of liquid on the wick and make a test
kbuild8.jpg

This gives me a good tasting vape at 17-20 W

And that was all in one continuous stream of thought!
I didn't go back to add the last line!

It's been a long day.

I hear ya! I thought it was GREAT though!!
These days with all the BS regarding the regs, it's nice to read posts that make you smile, or chuckle.

I basically did the same thing yesterday regarding a comment I posted on juice tasting too strong in my (new to me) KF's.
After seeing it actually written out (kind of like getting your thoughts on paper), and posted the question, I kept thinking about it, and I pretty much worked it out in my mind.
I got lucky though, I went back and edited, I think only one person had maybe seen/liked the original.
