My favorite coil for the kayfun V5 (and btw. also for the KM3 and K4) is a simple spaced Kanthal 0,35mm (AWG 27) 7x coil with a diameter of 2,5mm at ~ 1 ohm.

1. Wind about 10 wraps around a 2,5mm pin

2. Pull on both ends to space the coil
View attachment 561703

3. Pull off wraps on both ends to have 7 wraps left
View attachment 561705

4. Attach the coil between notch and Screw
View attachment 561707

5. Center the coil over the air hole with a distance of 1-2 mm
View attachment 561709

6. Insert the cotton, leaving ~ 1,5 cm on both sides
View attachment 561711

7. Bend the cotton-ends down and place them in the pouches
View attachment 561713

8. Put some drops of liquid on the wick and make a test

This gives me a good tasting vape at 17-20 W
Beautiful Coil! What ohms does it come out to?

Seems that the 5 has the same "feature" as the Mini V3. A pooling of juice under the atty is an indication that the wick needs a changing. I know...lazy on my part.
Interesting that this charming feature is never mentioned in any of the reviews. It's weird: sometimes it happens, sometimes it doesn't, even after a whole day- same coil and wick.

As I wrote, the result is about 1 Ohm. I use this coil as I usually vape with about 17W, which means I get the same vape out of an mechanical mod as I get from a VW electronic mod set to 17W

Ya know, I read that at least twice and the 1 ohm just didn't register! Sheesh, I need more coffee, me thinks.

Excellent tutorial! :thumb:

My build is similar, and so far use the same build for the Mini and KF5, 6 or 7 wraps of 26ga N80, 3 mm ID spaced coil. The only difference is that I don't trim as much cotton in the KF5, since there's more room in there. Love the flavor and performance! I'm usually around 19-21 W, resistance is around .7 ohm.

This is the only build I've done in the KF5 so far, and it came out great! Not sure if I care to try a Clapton coil next, but I might give it a try over the weekend.

You know, I never had that problem with the Mini, but I'm experiencing it now with the KF5, and it does seem to happen when it's time to rewick, it's like a reminder... it's just a little "sweating" under the base and on the mod, nothing major.

It started doing it yesterday so I rewicked it last night and this time I left a little more cotton in there, to see if it'll help.

This doesn't happen with mine. Are you sure it isn't condensation?
I don't know how to tell the difference. Re-wicked all K's this morning and have been hitting the 5. Still dry underneath.

Same. I think I may have been a little light on the wicking. Also seems to be a little more fussy with the juice flow. 1 turn is all I need. 1.5 on the V3M.

The more I use it the more I like it. It is still a little airy for me. Will add the restrictor plate once they have them.

Kayfuns (and many other brand RTAs) are somewhat notorious for gathering condensation on the bottom of the atty. You should be able to tell the difference. Is your juice colored? If not, then put it between your fingers. Juice is slippery.

Condensation is condensed vapor. It's not water. It's going to be colored if the juice in the tank is colored and it's going to be slippery. There's no puzzle here, no black magic. Hot juice "vapor" condenses on colder surfaces.

My juice is colored and the condensation that gathers on the bottom of my KFL tanks is not colored nor is it slippery, and has the viscosity of water. It dries quickly with no residue (unlike e-liquid). What you get may be the same or different than what I get but this is what I get. Condensation is the opposite of evaporation. Water evaporates. Water condenses. At least where I live.
