Can you still dry burn a spaced kanthal coil like you would do with a tight contact coil? I can make my contact coils last for months by running them under a tap and scraping the gunk off them.

My coils always lasted me about a month and then I just rebuilt.

That was before I prepped for the Vapocalypse and bought like 10,000ft of 28g Kanthal.

That was before Amazon banned Lightning Vapes from their marketplace and the price for wire was cheap enough to grab 200ft at a time for a handful of paychecks.

I'm still on a fairly similar rebuild schedule, but now I use twice as much Kanthal since I'm doing twisted coils.

I honestly must have lost a lot of tastebuds when I smoked, because I will run the same build for about a month in any tank I own...never notice a degradation in flavor over time, or maybe I'm just not bothered by it?

Maybe vaping 0mg keeps the flavor from degrading too fast?

Once I stepped off nicotine, I tried going back but it's difficult.

I've even had some of my favorite vendors mix me up 1.5mg and even 0.75mg blends, but it's still strong to me.

Blah. Tangent.

I've always done contact coils so was just curious I suppose. Seems like every video or pic of a build nowadays does spaced coils. I don't and have never used temperature control so maybe that's why I never got into that.

Whether spaced or contact, you dry burn the same, no difference. ...I do and have been doing both for years and honestly don't notice a difference. Maybe at much higher wattages a spaced could be better, but at least in my range up to 25 watts, no difference. ...I find myself doing contacts more with 28g and spaced with 26g, but it just depends on my mood. I believe in the video I posted here, I did a contact

Any idea how long to US from this retailer? I cannot read German
I don't think Svoemesto ships to the US. The 5S can be purchased from Creme d Vape. They're in the UK and ship to the US. Takes 3 - 7 days usually. Here's the link...

Kayfun 5s by SvoeMesto

I'd rather have the Prime than the 5s. Just my opinion.

I tried a few spaced coils this morning. Just not for me. I feel they take a second to 'get going' once you press the fire button. Just seems like a very short delay. Could all be in my head but that's what I noticed. Also, I found I had to be very careful and slow pulling the cotton through, so as not to bunch any of the coil wraps together. Flavour wise I would say very little difference from my regular contact coils. I've read posts where people state the difference in flavour is 'mind-blowing'. That wasn't the case for me. The only thing really attracting me to spaced coils was that people have said they don't gunk up cotton as much. Still not sure if that is true because I didn't leave it in long enough.

The slight delay and 'popping' from the vape really turned me off it. I think I'll just stick with my 28 guage contact coils. 2.5mm ID and 8 wraps. 1.4 ohms every single time. Fired at 11.5 watts. Works for me perfectly.

I must admit though, spaced coils look much prettier than contact coils!

Maybe like I said before, at much higher power and in drippers, maybe a difference in flavor because as you drip, you can get juice onto the wick, between wraps and I also can see higher wattages, like over 50 or so, having much more heat in a contact. Now mtl rta's at lower power, I agree, no difference. Yes with 28g you do have to be more careful pulling the wick, especially with rayon...as for the gunking, I do believe a contact will gunk faster, but at the same time I believe the wicking material between the wraps in a spaced coil gets kind of gunked more then a contact, so in terms of time to clean a coil from a bad taste, same again......and I do agree a contact is slightly faster and perhaps a touch warmer but not by much.

Forever...

They do not sell to the States.

Thanks!

Am on the waiting list at Creme de vape (sp?) and also at Origin Vapes, but thought I’d check it out anyway, since I now have the bug to buy the Kayfun Prime. Glad now that I waited on buying that second KFM3.

Found a Svoemesto Kayfun Prime in stock at dash vapes in Canada, but price with shipping (without insurance; so add $10 with) was going to be $150.67 so I’m waiting. That extra $15 surcharge didn’t come off, even when my US address was fully entered - that was the sticking point for my decision not to buy from them. It sounds exactly like what I’m looking for tho. Was busy with new grand baby and other things, didn’t read the board for almost two months, so as result of that was behind the “Prime” curve. Oh well, it certainly sounds like it’s worth waiting for!!

Happy and safe Halloween to all posters and your families!

@Thunderthud54 you could try at Pinkmule,it seems they have it in stock, plus you get it for less since the taxes are excluded.

question:
is it an easy task(/necessary) to take the prime completely apart for cleaning purpose(and reassemble),after receiving it from the factory before the first use?

Not in my opinion.

not easy,or not necessary? :)
i reckon you meant not necessary, but i'm still interested in knowing if it's an easy task.
i have no issues doing it with other tanks.
IMO, a very easy task...

Something I do for best results.

I clean them before I use them. So yes, in my world it is necessary. You asked if it was easy to take apart. IMO, yes it is. However, I would not take the entire thing apart piece by piece. I do not think that is necessary nor would I advise it. Putting all those bits back together doesn't always go as well as you'd hope or think. I'd only take it all apart if I had a reason to. Cleaning isn't one of those reasons. I'd take apart the normal stuff...drip tip, fill cap, top cap, glass, chimney and leave it at that.
