I wish higher pg was an option. Started with that, and liked it fine, but after a couple of months, the vapers tongue became swift and punishing with pg. It almost made me give up vaping. I can vape a lot more with 100% vg, but can still tell when I overdo it. I have no pg senstivity in the throat as most say, but it makes my mouth feel raw, kind of like I burned it with hot food, if I don't keep consumption way down with pg, with a long time between hits. Oh well.
Do you use Temp Control?

Well, I tried it. You may remember that you gave me a piece of advice about setting wattage before going into temp control.
Thing is, I like a cool, low temp vape. Usually .85 ohm @ 8W or so, with a primer puff, and long draw. With my Zelos, I can set it to 8W (or lower), then 180C, and it still starts super hot, then cools down - almost shuts off. So your advice worked to a degree, but even at very low wattage, it seems to override and still starts way too fast/hot. I need a smarter TC mod that will let me control it. I was thinking about the JAC, but I've been reading about DNA vs. Yihi, and it looks like I need a Yihi to do what I want. With their app, you can actually adjust the ramp up on an on-screen graph to set the temp at various msec intervals throughout the vape. DNA doesn't really have customization to that degree (yet), although I know it'd be better and smarter than what I have now. Problem is, those Yihi mods ain't cheap, especially after adding good batteries and a quality charger. And I like a really small, pocketable mod, so there aren't any really good options for me. Sometimes it just doesn't pay to be so picky!:(

I must be either lucky or not picky because the the Prime is still rocking my world. I am on the mid to airy settings most of the time (3-5) and have 2-3 other devices in rotation that all lean toward more airy. So definitely no complaints about the options for airflow - since I'm hitting near the middle of the range I think they nailed it for at least my preferences. I was definitely getting a bit of after taste initially, but I had committed the cardinal sin of not rinsing the tank out prior to the first use (zero ability to delay gratification on this one). It seems I was paying the price for that since after giving it a rinse and drying the parts it's all but gone now. And yes it isn't as small as other nano tanks I use. The calix v2 I run on a P3 is just a tad shorter than the Prime with drip tip included. Everything is relative though and I'm still using a far shorter tank than I was with the old RTAs - KF4 definitely included. I'm just very pleased with this tank - it's been a pleasure to use over the last couple of days.

Varitube has the older M-class mods in stock for $89. Unfortunately it doesn't have the support for the power curve customization you want. They do have the pre-order for the MX-class up now though and it's $30 cheaper than buying the Qmini so that might be a good option if you're willing to wait a bit.

I concur. My Prime delivers flavor every bit as good as my KM3. Just my opinion and worth what you paid for it. I use a DNA 75 in Temp control (430 degrees).

Just to clarify, @Bronze - I realized I may not have been clear, and sounded ungrateful. But your advice was good, and worked to a point, so I appreciate it. Dropping the wattage before setting TC helped, but it was my mod that wasn't doing me any favors by overriding what I set it at when it seemed to think it was too low. It may well be the ticket on other mods. Thanks for it anyway...it got me closer, and made me realize I'd probably like TC if it only did what I told it to!

You're good Brew. I never felt you were ungrateful. Never entered my mind. If it doesn't work for you then it doesn't work for you. Some things work great for the masses but that doesn't mean it works for everyone. Maybe you can put your Prime up on the classies and get something back for it to help pay for your new KM3 (also an excellent RTA).

Brew, what gauge wire are you using on the prime? I know your only vaping like 8 watts so I'm curious. ..also what's your coil height? I know you probably tried all configurations, but it seems strange about the TH to me....and flavor really..maybe there is a slight difference from the km3, but they are very very close and certainly not that noticeable and Same with TH....I can go back and forth between the prime and km3 and TH seems the same...now obviously I'm not vaping your particular juice, your particular build, or particular wattages, but maybe it's just a matter of something that can be fixed....Personally at 8 watts I believe 30g wire is best because with anything thicker your probably heating so slowly that most of your vape is air, unless you are hitting fire button before the vape to get it going...anyways just curious

Yeah, I looked into the classies, but that won't work for me right now. I don't really know super members to vouch. I've only got 12 feedbacks on ebay, although it's a 100% rating. And I was going to do PayPal, but when I found out I had to link my bank account to it - no way. I've been a victim of cc fraud several times, and had to open a new checking account for my business last year due to fraud, and it was a total nightmare for months. And of course, I recently had to freeze credit with all the agencies....so call me crazy, but with all the hacking and fraud going on, I'm not going to throw my banking info out to yet another entity that's a ripe target for hacking so I can sell or access vape gear.:)
I recently got my son to quit smoking and vaping, and he's on a Nautilus 2. He's not the tinkerer I am, but I'll give it to him when he gets tired of buying coils, I guess.

I know, right? It really shouldn't be that different from KM3. I use 28ga. I've tried 26, but didn't get the flavor I wanted out of it. I don't have any .30, but would try if my B&M carried it. I don't want to place a $2.00 order with FT and wait a month. I'm not sure of the exact height, but I believe it's around 1.5mm above the port. Same as I've always done with KM3. Usually the bottom is just at or above the screw heads. And that was the first thing I played with, raising and lowering it. Varying the height a littlee never gave me a real noticeable change in KM3. Here's about where it usually is (older pic, different tank), only I've done it lower.

With the KM3, it seems I can pretty much throw something in there, and be sloppy, and still get a great vape. High, low, 8 or 9 wraps, ~0.7 to ~0.9 ohms, more or less wick, 8-11 or even 12W...some are a little better than others, but all good.

Good wire source. Cheap and I think free shipping too. Very popular with ECF members. They are located in USA...Florida I believe.

Well your coil height seems spot on and the 28g is fine and if you have that set up in the km3, it should also be good in the prime....I still think a 30g coil might be slightly better, but most likely not enough where it's going to be a significant difference. ..is a bit strange because both tanks should be equally as easy to build and one doesn't seem pickier then the other. I know everyone has different tastes and opinions and not everyone is going to be happy with certain tanks, but for them to be that far apart is indeed strange. And your not the only one who feels like the difference is so great, that's it almost unvapable. ....especially the TH aspect, I'm huge on this and is probably more important then flavor, so when I hear that your almost getting none, I'm amazed...I personally don't build the prime any different to the km3 and get pretty similar results, so again, kind of strange....it's been probably 4 years since using 30g because I now vape a little over 20 watts, but I may still have some and if I do, I can send it to you if you want to try? The only issue with 30g is you probably will have to twist up the wick to get it in, then kind of untwist. If you dont, you probably will deform the coil trying to get enough in there for full contact

Anyone have the steam tuners wave tank for the prime? Just curious to see if you like it? My second hand k5 came with the factory tanks but also a ST tank , but it was stripped and didn't know if this was a common issue..anyways did just order a ST tank for km3 just to see if I would likey, and it's half the price of the wave tank and if I like, might buy the wave tank......

@vapdivrr - I have to say thank you for that wicking info you shared! I recently switched to using 3mm ID coils in my current favorite RTA and cannot seem to get the wicking dialed in. Your posts have gone into my permanent notes and I’m going to try your suggestions on my next rewick today.

Big thanks for that. I've used FT and 3FV several times, and they're great if you don't mind waiting for supplies. I've been shopping mods, and sometimes I only want to look at sites that ship from US. It's kind of hard to tell (you have to dig a little on some sites), but spent a little while over the weekend researching, and came up with the list below so far. Started with a few names I knew from this forum, and found a couple of sites mentioned in "rating" sites. My list doesn't really distinguish if they're any good, better at mods than atty's or equipment, etc., but it's a starting point for me anyway. Some I haven't even heard of. Is there a link, or does someone have good info or recommendations for US vendors? I wish ECF vendor list segregated them for us. I'll probably go to respected mfg. sites and see who they note as authorized to expand this a little.

I appreciate the offer, Diver. It's odd, but after waiting (still!) for my rayon to show up, I rewicked the KM3 last night. Was in a hurry, and felt like I really stuffed a lot of cotton - more than usual. It kind of made it taste a little more like the Prime, and did reduce TH a little. Made me think I need to experiment some more to see how little wick I can get by with on Prime. Guess I'm not giving up yet!
