I have had every kayfun, from the 3.1 to the nkfl and have found them relatively the same to wick. Besides the kayfuns I have tried perhaps 40 other mtl rtas over the years and found perhaps half more finicky and half less finicky, so I guess for me it falls kind of midway to maybe a bit more finicky then most....but imo this also has to do with wattage your running. If someone is running these rtas at 10 watts and a 50/50 juice, the wicking will be less finicky, but I use to run the older kayfuns at 18 watts and from the v3 onwards, run in the 23 watt range with upwards of 80vg. With that vg ratio and power, the wicking must be more precise, so perhaps this is why we see a difference in opinions about how finicky they are? Either way, whether one thinks it's easy or a bit finicky, rtas are indeed the most involved wicking there is. (Except the old genesis attys, which were definitely the most involved)

You've had a few explanations of the mechanics, so I'll describe the experience. You've probably noticed with wattage vaping that the vape gets hotter the longer you hold down the fire button. TC doesn't do that, at least not if you've got your settings worked out. It ramps up to the temperature you want fairly quickly and then just stays there instead of getting hotter. If you're taking 2 second puffs, you probably won't notice too much of a difference. If your puffs are 5+ seconds, there's a huge difference.
I tend to take long puffs. With the Zenith, it's a trade-off. I'm looking for a setting that provides enough vapor but doesn't overheat by the end. I end up with a bit of a weaker vape than I'd prefer. It takes a bit to get up to strength, and then continues on somewhat anemically. With the Prime in TC, I get a stronger vape that still isn't too hot.
If you're wondering why I don't use the Zenith in TC, that would be because I can't. TC only works with certain wire types, SS 316L being my preference. The Zenith coils, like many other drop-in coils, are made of kanthal.
There was this post on the Zenith thread on Apr. 4th, that you might find interesting...since the Z-BiiP AIO uses the same coils as the Zenith:

with TC you can adjust to bring out flavours u might not of tasted in the juice before , no burn coils its gods gift to vapers
with the need of proper research and the little amazing adventure of trying!
I appreciate your attention to those details. I haven't used anything above 70vg in the MTLs but your right. Who knows what people are using unless asked. Good point and I know who I can come to with my KF questions now

Oh, that is nice! I don't have a huge KF collection and I like the KFL+ but have become so accustomed to top fill. I suppose I've become a little spoiled. I don't have those top fill caps that they use to make. Did you ever use those?
Ha ha! Too bad, I'd like to get another Prime.
