Update; the nautilus 2 .7 coils all have a burnt flavor. I've tried three. I'm priming and all that and running at low wattage and all three have given me funky flavors. It's not every time either. juice is 50/50. Ugh. Going to try the 1.8ohm coil to see if that works better. I'm using two air holes open, maybe "wide open" is how the .7s should be used.
Sounds like you have a bad batch of coils, I get two - three weeks out of the 0.7's

The first Naut 2 coil worked great for about 2 weeks, for me, but once it tasted burnt, it tasted BURNT. I had to dump out a full tank, and I'm back to the 1.8 coil, which I like equally well, but I vape it at 10 watts, now, not 14. You could have gotten some bad coils? Opening airflow may help, I mean, it's a small tank. I had it open to just before the biggest airflow. That's too bad, I really like the "clean vape" taste of the 0.7 coils.

Good luck with the 1.8 (which I like just as much, for different reasons).

Well, actually, I'm happy with either. I have less crusty burnt issues with the 0.7 and feel the vape is smoother and the coil lasts longer but I do enjoy the tighter draw of the 1.8., and really doing MTL all the time so I alternate.

What wattage were you using? I only vape my 1.8 coil at 10 watts, my 0.7 at 14 watts. You might try experimenting with wattage and airflow. I've had a 1.8 coil taste a bit weird right out of the gate, but not AWFUL, and after I vaped on it for a while, it resolved itself (it may have been one of the coils I rehabbed by cleaning/soaking (which you can do, with distilled water). I will say that as a dual user I never "tasted" a burnt coil, but I sure did with my first 0.7, there wasn't a lot of crusty buildup or anything, but boy did it taste awful. Suddenly. This makes me happy actually, I was always getting scolded by my kid for not changing my coils enough... :) Now I taste it at once. That being said, it does seem odd for your coils to taste burnt right out of the gate? I'd try some different coil(s) in case what you got was a bad batch.... I can't say much other than to prime them, keep your juice level at more than 50% in your tank (more heat will equate to higher temps and possible burning) and to prime the wick really well. Sorry to not be of more help. Maybe experiment with different flavors?

Also, I don't know what your mix is, VG is typically touted as being harder on coils, so you may want to adjust your mix.

First be sure you're buying & using authentic aspire replacement heads, there are as many counterfeit / fake heads on the market as authentic. (all Ω heads) Last week I received a box of fake .7Ω from a well known reputable vendor.
I have yet to have any nautilus leak unless the head wasn't installed correctly, had a stuck o ring in base or the wicking material closest to / surrounding the coil was singed diminishing its ability to absorb & hold liquid, allowing it to flow through into the base instead of being held by the wicking material.
(been using them since they came out)
Of course changes in altitude makes most if not all 'tanks' leak.

Airflow helps cool the coil inside the head & helps prevent funky burnt tastes. When using the .7Ω bvc set the airflow to wide open & inhale strongly enough to move more air through the N2 than you would a standard nauty.
When using the .7Ω head reducing nic mg/ml will help too.
The 1.6Ω & 1.8Ω heads will work better for more restricted airflow settings.
I know folks that use as little as 8w & as much as 17w with mini, full size & N2, there is no right or wrong or optimal w range.
Start at a low power setting & gradually work your way up over the first half to full tank, especially after replacing an old head with a fully primed new one.

If you use heavily/over flavored or colored and especially sweet liquids, they tend to clog wicking material & gunk coils rapidly.
The N x was a disappointment to me.

I've played some more with it. Went down to 8w(1.8 coil) and got little of the burnt flavor, but it's not putting much out. What I have discovered is that if it sits for a while I get a decent hit from it and it tastes okay. This is leading me to believe that it isn't wicking right. I'm using a 50/50, so that shouldn't be the issue. Side note; should the top of the coil head be resting on an o-ring up on its top part? I don't see anything up in the bell thing under the mouth piece, this would be after the threads.

I think the Naut2 is a fine tank and I was surprised how much I enjoyed the 0.7 coil. Kinda makes me want to track down some of those Unicorn-like sub-ohm coils that Aspire just made for the tank, to try TC mode. Maybe later :)

But, congrats on resolving your problem. :) I still have problems with citrus flavors, they make me want to gag, regardless of coil status. I think it was a bit too much time in the car with my kid where he fogged up the vehicle with the most ghastly combinations of fruit/menthol, so finding the right juice is really important.. I think I did throw a peach flavor in with my "test a bunch of flavors" kit, but I really like peach and pomegranate, so I guess I am going to see. My mountenous stash of VG finally arrived so I plan to make a few more flavor batches before Monday...

Happy vaping!

Have you ever tried just the original Aspire Nautilus? That has been my go-to ever since I first tried one about three years ago. It totally meets my own personal preferences better than anything else I have tried before or since. I for one hope they never stop making the original Nautilus and coils for it--it's on my personal "if it ain't broke don't fix it" list.

I have high doubts they'll stop production for the original coils. Those coils are the most sold world wide!

I'm very glad to hear this! I started getting worried last year because my nearest local vape shop where I purchase most of my supplies seemed to always be out of stock. So I have been concerned that this meant they have been discontinued or something and the supply is drying up. Sounds like my fears were for naught!

That was the first tank I ever really loved. I have gotten spoiled with more modern tanks though. I enjoy top fill and I won't put up with leaks. It's still a great tank. Looks great, vapes great, very nice liquid capacity.

One vape shop here stopped carrying nauti coils too. Little birdy that worked there said they did that so people would "upgrade" to a "better" tank. Another words they wanted people to buy more tanks instead of buying $2 coils every month. This shop is now out of business and that employe started his own shop that, you'll never guess, sells nautilus coils and tanks :D.
