Old school is still best for Tootlin.

I use good ole 3 ohm Boge cartos in J-tanks. Been using that combo since Jason started making the tanks in 2011. There's just something appealing about tanks bought 6 years ago that still work like new.

Where do you find the j tanks.

I have to say, I wonder if this is an attempt to upgrade while remaining the same... For upcoming deeming regulations. I really hope that Aspire keeps on keeping on after the FDA as I have found my clean(ed) coils last far less long than first use, so I'll be stocking up on coils but I'd love it if they are still available. They're a fairly large company so I'm hoping :)

I wish there were some rebuildable/usable coils tanks that you don't have to sub-ohm with SS at crazy ohms. That said, I bet once I start reading that section like crazy I'll find some, but seriously, I will be weeping into my Nautilus tank if ever I can't get coils for it. I'm fairly certain it will remain a tank I love, no matter what. That said, I haven't tried TC yet, so I may find I just LOVE it. :)

There are. Kayfuns were suggested earlier, and I'll second that. A lot of people like the v3 and the Kayfun light plus, but my favourite is the v5. I like an airier draw, so that's probably a factor. I'm currently using a 1.3 ohm SS coil in TC, but it plays well with kanthal in VW if that's what does it for you. It's easy enough to build a 1.8 ohm kanthal, or even SS.

I haven't vaped a tank with premade coils in several years. I gave them up with Kanger had a problem with quality control when they change from all resistance wire to a hybrid with non resistance legs. I understand that they are much more reliable now. My friend says he gets a month out of a Smok TFV8 coil.

I like the Kayfun tanks. My favorite is the KF Lite Plus v2, followed by the KF Mini v3. Nautilus was a really flavorful tank back when I vaped them.

Well...if my 2nd order from China ever gets here I can try building coils on my particular Nautilus.

I just realized that I should have put this post in here, so I'll copy and paste it:

I started playing with that Quad Flex Survival Kit today. It's a box that has all of the hardware to put together a Nautilus X, plus additional hardware to turn it into a RTA, a RDTA, and a sqonker. It was only $20 so I figured if nothing else I got a spare NaughtyX for $20. So I put together the RTA and the RDTA today. It was interesting and fun. I was able to get a usable MTL vape at 15 Watts and I was able to chuck some clouds at 55 Watts. Dripping was kind of weird and messy for me. I did get juice all over my hands from being kind of clumsy with it. I did better with the RDTA but the thing only has a 2 ml reservoir and I blew through that quickly from farting around. Also I think I gave myself a bit of nic poisoning from screwing with it too much. Still...very enjoyable. I have a new toy.

As much as Rip Tripper annoys the living crap out of me he does have a video for the Aspire Quad Flex Survival Kit that breaks it down pretty well. He doesn't use it in squonker mode, even though I thought he said that he was going to:

Also here is a funny video from Twisted 420 about the same kit. He also does not use it in squonker mode. WARNING! LANGUAGE IS NSFW!

I got the kit for $20. So I was pretty happy about buying the thing because I figured, worst case scenario, I got an extra NaughtyX for $20. I've been playing with it and having fun.

Just because I'm keeping weird hours and I can't stop playing with my new toy let me break down what you get in the Quad Flex Survival Kit when you use all of the parts:

1) A Nautilus X tank with a 1.8 Ohm atomizer. It's rated for 12-16 Watts. This is the MTL tank I use. It gives me a very satisfying vape. I have taken it down to 8 Watts and it was usable. I have also taken it up to 20 Watts and it was usable. I tend to go 12-14 Watts and enjoy the great battery life and relatively low juice consumption, although I have found that it does go through a little more juice than other atomizers that I have used in this range. I already had one of these tanks, and I bought two extender kits for $5 each that include a longer glass and a chimney extender that gives you a 4 ml capacity. It has top fill. It has top airflow. It doesn't leak. You can sit and vape the thing upside down if you want and nothing bad happens as long as juice covers the wicking slots. The atomizers last me about two weeks of heavy use, and it's not like they become horrible, you will just notice that the flavor has degraded a bit. It may seem a bit fiddly to you because the thing is held together when you screw the top on and it's easy to accidentally adjust the airflow when putting the top back on after a refill. The airflow is easy to see on the SS models but the slots are harder to see on the black model. When you refill it it's easy to flood the coil a bit. Just grab a paper towel and blow through the drip tip, wipe off any excess, and you're good to go. The tank had a lot of bad reviews early on because it came out with only the 1.5 Ohm atomizer available. Even though the 1.5 ohm atomizer has a listed rating of 14-22 Watts so it might seem like the better option...it's not. The 1.8 Ohm atomizer is noticeably better and really makes this tank.

There are two top caps in the kit. One has airflow slots on the top of the cap that are easily adjustable. There is a plastic collar inside of the cap that helps move the air across the top of the coil(s) and into your mouth. When using this top cap the tank won't leak. The other has airflow slots on the sides at the bottom just over the coil(s). This also has adjustable airflow as this other cap has a plastic collar inside with cut outs that match up with the airflow slots. This will leak if your juice level raises above the coils, if you squonk too much juice at once for instance or if you drip too much juice at once. You can use either of these top caps. They have threading on the top and this allows you to attach either an (included) wide bore drip tip for dripping or an (included) flat piece that takes whatever 510 drip tip that you want to use.

The kit comes with two premade coils, a bag of cotton, an Allen wrench for turning the screws, four extra screws, several o-rings, and an extra gasket for the piece that switches between an RTA and an RDTA.

2) An RTA with (I've been told) a 'velocity' style deck. You can go with single or double coils. I had no problems putting the coils on it and I had no problem getting the cotton in them. I mention this because I've never done it before. I did have to use my own fingernail clippers to trim the legs of the coils. It worked quite well for me. Flavor and clouds were acceptable but I soon tired of fiddling with dripping into the thing because I'm lazy and I've been spoiled by tanks.

3) And RTDA with that same deck but minus a piece. All I did was replace the cotton with a longer strand to reach down into the 2 ml reservoir after removing the disc that covered the wicking holes for the tank. There are four large holes to fit the cotton down into the little tank and two pinhole sized refill holes. I liked the single coil better than the double coil set up so I just used one of the extra two holes for refills instead of the pinholes and that worked well. The flavor and clouds were, again, acceptable. By that I mean that they were better than the MTL vape from the NaughtyX and at least on par with my high Wattage tanks that I have used. I was surprised by how well the thing worked at various Wattages. By playing with airflow and trying different Wattages I could get a good variety of vapes out of the thing.

4) A 510 pin with a hole through the center of it that turns your RTA into a squonker. I didn't use this because I don't have a squonker mod. It looks like this would take care of my laziness problem and possibly make the RTA my favored deck because it would eliminate the need to drip.

I'm sure that someone with experience using coils could get more out of this thing. Eventually I will become one of those people but for now I thought that this was a great way for a n00b like myself to play around with it. I do have to say that the vapor production at various Wattages was fine and the flavor was better than I thought it was going to be. I was able to hit a sweet spot with some of my high VG low nic juices using the RDTA that really brought out the flavor, more than my tanks. When I factor in the various possibilities this thing was a steal at $20 in my opinion.

That was an excellent review Listopencil.... I'm keeping similar hours, unfortunately, my stupid implants keep waking me up at 4:30 a.m. when the advil wears off!

Fortunately, I don't have to go inside and outside repeatedly, since I'm now vaping, hence not waking anyone :)

That was an excellent review, you are really making me want the kit but I am on FREEZE now, for reals. Maybe later. You can't buy much when waking up at 430 (if you are me) or you will buy WAY WAY too much.

Maybe for my next (scheduled) purchase, it sounds fun all the things you can do with it, and my love for aspire products is pretty unshakable, I think :) Thanks for the review. :)

Thanks, if you see it for sale make sure that you are getting the full kit that allows you to build a NaughtyX. There are two kits available. One kit assumes that you already have a NaughtyX and one kit comes with all of the parts. I was able to get the more extensive kit for $20.

I am Jones'n for the rofvape witcher mod .... however I am on the fence with it. Great reviews I don't like the battery.

I thought it was pretty cool looking when I stumbled across it. I had been looking for a stealth vape, and that was a possibility for me. The one I looked at took a single 18650 though:

Can I ask what sort of coils you put in the Quadflex? I bought the kit too but haven't built anything on it yet and just using it as a regular Nautilus X while I'm waiting for my building kit to arrive. Can you get a good MTL draw on it? I've only ever used the Nautilus X tank so this will be my first rebuildable and I think Lung hitting is probably not for me!
