In addition to the Rocky Patel v'90 cigar, I decided to extract a single varietal "Rustica" tobacco, two aromatic pipe blends and one of my favorite non-aros using the two stage double extraction method. All five are finished and currently being reduced but since they're -double- extracts I plan on only reducing them by 50% before sampling. If I'm right I should only need to mix these at around 3 - 5%. The two aromatics smell divine, I wonder if this aroma will carry through in the vapor? I certainly hope so. The Rocky Patel smells stronger than the actual cigar did and has excellent color depth, a medium golden brown with green hue. The Rustica extract is dark brown with green hue and has an aroma unlike any other tobacco I've extracted, a slight nuance of freshly diced green chili pepper mixed in with a heavy tobacco aroma. I'm very curious about its flavor and think its either going to be really good or really bad but not in-between. The non-aro is certainly darker than it's traditionally extracted self but I don't perceive any additional tobacco aroma, it doesn't "smell" any stronger. Could just be that I sniffed the aros too long, MAN they smell good, like walking into an upscale pipe tobacco shop.

Did it seem to absorb/hold much of the extract?
Honestly, I forgot to check. I'm doing another in the morning and will definitely look. Here's a pic to give you the scale of the thing and how clean it is just from running it under the tap.

Especially interested in the RP. Loved those cigars for a long time. Might have to mimic your process if it lands for you.

I thought of something that I'll try on the next one. Instead of squeezing through the bottom where there's a seam and drawstring maybe squeeze through the side. Might get a little more.

Actually looks like a bit of solvent clings to the mesh.

The grain bag I use is pretty good size and I use it from the outside, side of the bag. I fold it double and punch it down in my measuring cup. Then when you dump your leaf you can put the palm of your hand behind where the leaf was and just wash it off the side of the bag. I try to never go to the inside of the bag unless i'm going to strain fruits, berries. If you soap it up any to clean it, be sure to give it a super rinse. Hope this makes sense.

Does anyone know what goes into a NET called NS Dark from Net.com ? I am looking for some dry leaves to replicate the flavor. Here is a link: NS Dark

Likely a Nat Sherman (NS), tobacco blend. I've not tasted NS Dark so can't guess at which blend was used. Nat Sherman's #205 is a VaPer that uses mostly "Dark" tobacco.

Is it possible to make a table for all tobaccos you have tested at the first page ? It would be also interesting to know all the toboccas str8 have tested, which have no good flavour in this list. What do you think about ?

Taste is just too subjective between individuals. The tobaccos I like may not suit others and conversely the ones I considered lackluster might end up being someone else's favorites. This is why I rarely mention/post the tobaccos I dislike and focus instead on posting about those I do. Anyone with a similar taste preference to mine can then try other tobaccos I found great. I only wish I could edit my original post on that thread to include "new" tobacco blends I've discovered, that way it would be current and all inclusive.

Stokkebye 302 Black Cavendish Cherry @ 22%
70/30 PG/VG
12mg nic (I know, but I've come down a lot!)

I need to up the flavor to 25-26%. It's a little weak but, the cherry is there. Subdued though. Also steeping should help. After re-reading some of the reviews though there's several mentions of the cherry not being as prevalent as described.

All in all though I'm happy to have done it and gotten something tasty.

NS Dark

NS Brown

I have found both at Spec's Liquor. Unfortunately you can't buy Nat Sherman in RYO or bulk.
