Stokkebye 302 Black Cavendish Cherry @ 22%
70/30 PG/VG
12mg nic (I know, but I've come down a lot!)

I need to up the flavor to 25-26%. It's a little weak but, the cherry is there. Subdued though. Also steeping should help. After re-reading some of the reviews though there's several mentions of the cherry not being as prevalent as described.

All in all though I'm happy to have done it and gotten something tasty.

Gratz! 25% is about right for a PG based cold extraction, after a month or two of aging the "Cherry" flavor might become more pronounced. If you want/need more of a Cherry presence, try adding a drop of Inawera's cherry flavoring to the NET. :)

I have found both at Spec's Liquor. Unfortunately you can't buy Nat Sherman in RYO or bulk.

Nice find. Would be like the Natural Spirit tobaccos, just have to buy a pack to get the tobacco needed for an extraction. A little more costly than bulk/RYO tobacco but still inexpensive when considering how much NET you can make from a single pack.

Got a Specs right up the street from me. And Boxster, thanks again for the help in getting all the supplies together from that other thread!

True, but I must admit I was tempted a bit wanting to light one of those black beauties, just to find out how it smoked.

Dunhill International (also sold at Spec's) is another a good cigarette extraction. I just started an ethanol extraction of DI last week.

I've sampled two of my double extracts, the Rock Patel v'90 cigar and Sutliff Private Stock "Molto Dolce", my -first- aromatic blend. Mixed up 1ml of each @ 5%.

At 5% the Rocky Patel is the best cigar NET I have ever tasted, velvety smooth, no nonsense, top shelf cigar flavor. That was shake-N-vape, can't wait for this one to age a month or two to see how its flavor develops, already a keeper. I've never "smoked" one of these so don't know how accurate the extracted, vaped flavor is but it tastes nothing like the inexpensive tobacco shop cigars I have smoked, much smoother.

At 5% the Molto Dolce is outstanding, its flavor is true to its aroma. I taste Burley and Cavendish tobaccos out in front with caramel, a hint of vanilla, a fresh crème nuance and what might be black cherry somewhere in the background. Can't really tell if the aroma carries through to the vapor but I'm sure my better half will chime in tomorrow. This same flavor profile is what I've been mixing with concentrated flavorings and tobacco extract for the past few years. Might actually be a little too strong, will try 4% next time.

Will sample the other three Tobaccos in the next few days.

Awesome news on the Rocky Patel. Did you sample your control as well? Did the double maceration make a difference?

I haven't sampled the control yet but will in the next few days, so far the double extraction seems promising/successful but I'm far from reaching a definitive conclusion.

I used twice as much tobacco as a normal extraction but 40% less ethanol than two separate extractions would have required. Even if the flavor is twice as strong meaning you would need less extract when mixing could we not achieve the same result through reduction/concentration of a normal extraction? If so the only true benefit of a double extraction might be the 40% ethanol savings. With a double extraction less reduction is needed because the extract is already at double strength, will this improve flavor? It may be some time before I reach any firm conclusions one way or the other but so far I'm impressed with the results.

Follow up:

I switched to the Peter Stokkebye 315 Black Coffee - PipesandCigars.com after about 5mls of the Black Cherry Cavendish. My coils (dual at .26 ohms) were still quite clean and took minimal dry burn to get the little bit of gunk off.

The PS Coffee is very nice. About the same density feel of Black Cherry. 25% is about right. Coffee is barely present but again, steeping might bring it out more.

Still pleased with the outcome of both.

ps: It tasted great after a nice cheese enchilada supper at Maudie's.

I am a little unclear about the difference between a single extraction at 10% vs a double extraction at 5%. Don't they both deliver the same amount of flavoring to the juice? One difference I could see is the amount of alcohol in the final mix. Could the length of the heating time also be a factor?
