Thank you. I agree with you about everyone here enriching my life and yours too. I loved reading everyone's input and comments here on this forum. After Lisa was kind enough to invite me here I don't really post anywhere else on ECF. I also would never have met any of you wonderful people on this part of ECF were it not for Lisa.

There are a lot of people who read the threads here but don't post but it's great to see so many readers. Some of the threads have over 2,000 hits as for readers which is awesome. God really is wonderful and seems to put everyone in the right place and at the right time.

Some believe so but you will get varied answers. IMO they are separate. Spirit is the portion of you given from God and returns to God who gave it...the breath of life so to speak. Soul is you and will be either in paradise or torment. Body returns to the earth.

I agree. Spirit and soul are separate. The way I look at it and I like your format, SG:

Body = body
Soul = personality...it's who you are
Spirit = way of communicating with God....like picking up a phone and calling God.

We all will eventually have a glorified body, but our spirit and soul stays the same.

I agree with you Lisa, I have always believed they are the same thing. I had not read the latest posts in this thread.

My mom and I have talked about this a few times, and we are both concerned if we have ever done it or not.

????...it would seem to me that if you're concerned that you might have done it, it's obvious you never have...if you had you wouldn't consider it something to be worried about

I just finished the chapter 13 reading. I love the way He spoke in parables, and every one was such a perfect analogy. I also love the way you explain things Chimney, makes it easy to understand for those of us who aren't really bible scholars.

Hi Lisa, here are a couple of scriptures that show they are seperate

Hebrews
12For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. 13Nothing in all creation is hidden from God’s sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of him to whom we must give account.

1 Thessalonians 5:23
"Now may the God of Peace Himself sanctify you entirely, and may your spirit and soul and body be preserved complete without blame at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ."

I thank you both for your votes of confidence. Although I've studied Bible (unofficially, i.e. not at a seminary) for many, many years and other good teachers, this is the first time that I've tried to lead a Bible study of such diverse people. I'm enjoying it. (I wish that I could get my posts up faster though...it usually depends on my health)
