Sounds to me like you're a 'smoking hot' Chimney! (Not analog smoking.) I agree with everything you said. You can't take an apple and make it an orange. Makes perfect sense to me! This next week I'm gonna be busy busy busy, if I live through this Craft show. THEN, after I'm rich :)laugh:) I will come back and spread the wealth. One penny for Lisa, one penny for Eve, $10.00 for Linda, yeah....right. I don't do it for the money. I've done it in the past for fun, but this year has not been too much. I should cancel, but I won't. I will see how it goes and if it's awful, I won't do it next year.....either that, or start in February for next year! LaChaim! Shalom! :)

As long as you're enjoying it...........keep on doing it. But when it becomes a chore, or work, then time to hang it up. :)

on the other hand, it includes Joseph, who had no biological relation to Jesus.......

Hey yea, what's up with that? I never realized that before! :)

Although Joseph was not the biological father of Jesus, he did not denounce Mary as an adulteress. He was considered the "legal father" of Jesus. Matthew is showing through the genealogy recorded that as the "legal son" of Joseph, he was in the line of King David.

My question is this, was Jesus a perfect child? Did Mary or Joseph ever yell at him, scold him, or typical kid stuff like that? I"m just curious..........I mean, how would you even handle something like that? I couldn't.

Remember that almost everyone was expecting Messiah to be a military leader that would throw over the Roman oppressors--they were not expecting Messiah to be God in human form. So, it's not like Mary and Joseph were contending with the idea of raising God Himself.

As for Jesus being disobedient, we know that His father's work would take precedence such as in the case of his teaching in the temple at age 12. He was scolded for worrying Mary and Joseph but was He actually sinning? He was rather doing what God told Him to do. (And if He had sinned, how could He be considered the "perfect lamb of God". Although, he was 100% human, he was also 100% God. And God, by His nature, cannot sin.

I've often wondered about this also. Some call it 'the silent years' of Christ.. years we don't have any scriptural basis to go on. I like this summary Chimney..... it stands to reason God was sovereign over (Himself) Christ all the days of His Life..

I have a couple of questions...
Isn't "fermented grape juice" wine? I mean that is what wine is, is there some historic distinction I am missing?

What days will we be doing the Bible Study, or have we already started it today?

I think the Bible Q and A would be a great thread! Great idea.
(ummm, how does the multiple quote function on here work? I haven't figured that out yet. All this new technology and all, LOL!)

No, fermented grape juice is wine. Some denominations say that no one should drink alcohol, so they try to make a distinction between the 2. I've even heard people refer to it (grape juice) as "new wine". Hebrew and Greek are pretty specific. If it says wine, it means wine, i.e. fermented grape juice.

I'm not sure about the days of the Bible study yet. I will TRY to have something up on Matt. 8 on Tuesday (which is where I believe that SG left off. We might do it just once a week to start off. and discuss it over the next few days. If we would have a "Bible Q & A" that would be ongoing. In fact, I was trying to go through the Bible study thread today to see if there were unanswered questions. I found a few and answered them. I think that LisaLisa has the "power" to move these questions to another thread that could be created for Bible Q & A.

To quote multiple posts, decide which post that you want to quote. Next to the link that says "reply with quote" there is a little black "button" containing quotation marks. Hit that one first. If you want to quote several posts, keep hitting that button. For the last post that you want to quote, THEN hit the "reply with quote". Next, I find it easier to hit the "go advanced" button to get a bigger screen (I have "old eyes") On that screen, you have the chance to make comments on each post that you've chosen.

Thanks Chimney,

When I want to just take a line or two out of a post, which I have tried to do and failed several times and gave up, how do I do that? I have tried highlighting the part and hitting the multiple quote button and it didn't work. I didn't want to quote the whole thread, and I see that everyone else seems to be able to do that, is it in the advanced options part?

<SIGH> It's tough being a newbie...LOL!!

It's easier for me to do with advanced options. You'll see something like
and then the part that you're trying to quote. At the end of the post made by "dummy", you'll see
Between those 2 marks, you'll be able to highlight the part of the post that you want to take out. THEN, start on the next post that you're quoting. IOW, you have to pick out which posts that you'll be quoting BEFORE you start "editing". Is that clear? I've done it quite a bit so it has become "mechanical' to me.

Lisa,

Is this the new thread? I got here from another link. I didn't know we were going to post the other things that lead to the "discussion" of Israel and Palestine in this thread. I figured we just start a whole new thread from scratch so to speak. It isn't the first time I have been confused and certainly not the last...LOL!
