Blu is going to be the end of vaping legally. They are drawing too much attention from the public to vaping. They will be the only reason the FDA messes with ecigs. I can't go a day without seeing one of their commercials or seeing them in a gas station or mall. I hear they have a Super Bowl commercial this year. Something needs to be done.

Nothing can be done though. The only thing that I can see being done is stiffer regulations (which nobody wants). Seeing as tobacco can no longer be advertised on TV I could see some nut jobs trying to pull e-cig commercials too.

It was inevitable really. BT was going to see consistent losses as people switch over, only logical they'd dip their toes in. With that comes general concern and of course this upcoming nonsense by the FDA.

People only buy what they want .. adverts are only there to make people aware of what's available and hope they buy it .. that's the free market at work .. attention to the PV has been out of the bag for some time .. and it's not going back in the bag ..

Are you advocating BLU be shut down .. ?? Or just not allowed to run ads .. ?? What if ProVari ran a Superbowl ad .. ??

What is needed is internal regulation just like a host of other industries do, that is what needs to happen.

Many of us on ECF have been saying just that for several years now .. and I still say any reg that comes down is partially the fault of the vendors ..

I *kind of* disagree with OP. I do think more publicity could potentially bring more negative attention, however that being said - they have $$$$. BT has gotten away with (literally) murder for ages and how have they suffered for that? They haven't - because they have to the money to pay, err, persuade lawmakers. I'm not happy about BT being involved with the ecig industry, but as Thompson stated - it really was only a matter of time. I'm sure Blu knows that a 4mg limit on juice would be pointless, as well as the other things that FDA oversight could limit - and I'm sure they will be trying VERY hard to make sure that their newest investment continues to pay off. I don't know how much they paid for Blu, but I'm sure it wasn't cheap so I think it could be a good thing that they are financially invested in the industry now.

You have to remember that Blu is now Big Tobacco They have the "bucks" and lawyers to affect legislation and fight the true fight with Big Government. The downside is the effect on the small vendors, who might be either forced out of business, or have to join up and sell the Blu to survive. On another level - personally I cannot believe that "drug related paraphernalia" can be sold out in ths open with no legislative restraints and yet the FDA "seems" ready to ban vaping devices including mods? Just insane!

Blu has been very careful not to cross the line in its advertising. They do not make any claims that would trigger the FDA stepping in. Eventualy studies (if done fairly) will provide solid evidence that electronic cigarettes are far better in helping people stop smoking regular cigarettes than any other method. Just my :2c: for what it is worth, probably just :2c::laugh:

I do think their commericial with the stubble-faced has-been actor guy is annoying... If I looked like that guy when I vaped I'd probably want to go back to tobacco too.... Maybe that's the point? It's all by design! Make us all look like washed up (commerical filmed at the the shore no less) out of work bums who can't even see in color, then offer us a blue light of hope to colorize our hopelessly black & white existances....

As they say, any advertising is good advertising .. BT has not gotten away with murder for many years .. the information regarding quiting has been freely available / health risks / etc .. huge fine imposed which the States got to promote quiting / health and then promptly spent on other things ..

Smokers can and do quit every day .. the source of the material is not to blame .. it's the user ..

I would say branding is Blu's strong point and they have drawn a lot of people into the ecig world. The only thing they go to far in is their pricing, which I believe allows others to follow suit, and their claim that a 510 type carto equals a pack and a half of smokes. I do wish I could get their Java flavor separately from Johnson Creek. It was really good. I miss it.

And that is the whole thing in a nutshell ..

The more that switch to a PV, the more leverage we all have when it comes to any regulation .. it's called "Power to the People" ..

Those new converts will be in our court .. the more converts, the more power ..

So I say, bring on the ads .. please ..

I think the more people know about vaping the better. Keeping it in the shadows is not the answer. Wouldn't it be nice if one day it is pretty much the norm and accepted.

It makes sense but makes me a bit sad. I think this whole vaping thing is a neat hobby that is just for us. Something that isn't the norm and is our thing. It's like how lowrider enthusiasts would feel if everyone on the road were sporting 13x7 daytons and juice.
