On the way home stopped at the pet store, got the same stuff - beats 'em all, so far... Thanks for you perseverence!!! Definetely on the right track!! Still wonder if a single paper hole punch would make the cutting much easier????

Just tried as i remembered that we have one.. hehe. NO! No way a hole punch will work as its like 10xs too small. Unless theres such a thing as a large hole punch.

I don't have a hole punch that I know of. But for us m40X users, that sounds like it would be just about the right size! Gonna rummage through my roommate's desk tomorrow :)

Be nice if we could get these plugs pre-made. hehe. I have the green scrubbers and going to try that before I go spend money on the blue foam. If it's even available here. Haven't looked yet. Seems to be pretty much hit and miss for getting the plug the exact size. The blue foam might be easier to make an outline for cutting though. If I find it too hard to make them with the scrubber, then I'll try the blue foam. What we really need is a cutter that's exactly the right size. Like a punch. Any machinists here?

DO NOT USE THE HEAVY DUTY SCRUBBERS AS THEY HAVE ABRASIVE METAL EMBEDDED IN THEM!!

Use the BLUE NON-SCRATCH SCRUBBERS.

PMD - The straw mod makes a really nice lip in ANY 510 cart. I have round and flat tips. Pack the material to the TOP of the cart. You'll see a nice indent from the atty bridge, so it wicks REALLY well and the straw keeps it fro being pushed into the cart further.

Just started trying the straw mod. It seems to work better.

The straw seems to wick faster than the spring.

Happy Saturday, all - now that the magical blue foam has been discovered (thanks to eclypse) - just wondering what it's made of and it's melting point. Still haven't gotten a bad taste from it (like all the other material I've tried; blue scrubber plug, PTB, Tulle - even tried to run down a lamb for some wool). When the carts run dry and I pull out the foam - the cart is dry as a bone:) - It's truly awesome stuff!!! (I wonder if the pet stores are starting to sell out of these blue foam filters and wondering why?) ha, ha - maybe buy some stock in Marineland;)

Gottabefree.. naw i didnt discover the blue foam as theres another thread where the guy used it.. Eheim filterpad mod.

I tried myself long ago.. tried a bunch of different sizes of it and could not get it to wick good.. seemed to work like everything else by working great the initial 3-4 puffs (cause it wet the wick apon inserting it) after that it would drop off and hold alot of juice. Thought i wasted money on it but was smart to keep it just encase i thought of something in the future.. as i do with all the crap i have hehe.

Oh, yeah the wool has a taste as well! Burnt hair. That stuff is dense and too limp to hold shape. Will trap alot more juice then poly. Just another one of those "I dont know how people like it or use it" but yet seemed popular.

:) I feel i'll be needing another bag or 2 after all the playing around with my 3 pack! lol.. well, just to make sure i never run out in the future if they stop making it. ;)

Oh, forgot to mention this.. I did use this with a 6.80v mod a few times in a row. Now that will really heat that atty up with that much voltage. I never tasted anything nor noticed the stuff looking melted when i pulled it out.. so i think we will have no probs.

Opps.. one last edit:

I have a new idea on doubling up the cart size.. hopefully it works and is easy to do.

I got this stuff, back when I saw the original thread, at a local pet store and have loved it since the first vape. SO easy to refill and SO easy to clean. You can reuse them forever... just run under warm water and tap dry with a paper towel. The shape is always retained. No "poly-taste" or loose stands. Has never once singed or burned. When I empty my cartridges there is maybe 1/3 of a drop left attached to the foam at most.
I tried the spring method with this and it leaked more than just the foam plug I had previously been using. So I am going back to just the foam plug. It sits nicely on the same "lip" the spring does inside the cartridge, making the spring kinda unecessary and seems to have enough holding power to prevent leaks.
In my opinion this is the A #1 way to fill a cartridge at this point.

Well, in anycase - whether you discovered it or not - the pics you did make my search super fast and easy!

Well i may not of discovered the blue foam but i did invent the use of the plug method which goes to show you that you only need a little piece and not a whole cart full of it.

At any rate.. thanks for the kind comments! :)

Thanks for the nice review! Glad you like it ;)

I've yet to find a "lip" on either my 510 or 901 carts - flat or round. Can someone fill me in??

? Grab a empty cart.. look in the open end. Now look at teh round edge around the rim. If you look down from that wall you'll notice that its smooth all the way down to the bottom. Now look at the flat edge. Look down to the bottom and about a 1/4 inch down you'll see how the wall goes inward. Thats the lip/ledge.. or what we call it. hehe.

Thats the part that the foam sits on and prevents it from falling down in the cart bottom. Now i've heard that the flat tip 510/901 carts dont have this.

DOUBLING the cart size??? I await your idea!!:D

:) Yup.. Coming soon to a forum near you! lol. Should grab my tools and see if this has a chance in hell or not.

If it works.. I'LL BE COUNTING (FORSURE!) the amount of draws i can get from it.. i may even video tape mayself and count later so the nic buzz dont make me loose my count again hehe.

Oh.. and i bet everyone could guess what i'll have for my cart filler. hehe
