Hey - eclypse - great instructional!!! As I'm still partial to the flat tip carts, it's still working for me even without a straw to hold it up. I'll be trying the folded slug and see how it works with the flat tips as well (sans straw...):thumb:
BTW - yesterday I showed it to a co-worker I got started on a 510 - this morning he was ecstatic with the way the blue foam worked - said he vaped 5 hours straight last night.....:D

lol.. Nice to hear!

Yeah version 2.0 might need some work. Seems to be slowly draining into the atty. When that happends it will run out fast and not vap good at at. The 510 atty likes to vape on the edge of being dry unlike other attys i've heard.

I figured that if anything it would work perfect with thick juice.. i personally wont know till i can order some.

All i can think of whats going on is that the bridge of the atty is sinking into the plug deeper hense lifting the sides of the plug away from the walls of the cart.. When that happends it makes the plug thinner around the edge so the juice can leak threw.

I'm still going to test the slug out for a couple of days.. Making sure to blow out any left over juice inbetween refills... i'll figure it out ;)

Glad to know that version 1 is working good enough though.. just thought people wanted something easier to cut.

I think in the video I put it in horizontal but I've tried it both ways I haven't really noticed a difference, this vg is really think so it doesn't leak. Vertical might be better idk I'm still a noob, .............. just armed with a cam

Thanks,

Yeah vertical may work good or better since it will be taller and make better contact with the atty.. Damn i gota get me some thicker juice. Would love to make an order from www.nhaler.com right about now hehe.. Cant even afford the damn $4 for the small 6ml trial bottles. Wifes got the bank account on lock down.

Make sure to pre-wash the foam before use with some mild hand soap.. Might want to mention that in the next video if you make one again. If not you get a nasty plastic taste.

I love it eclypse! It is quick, easy, cheap, reusable, and no loose fibers... Super awesome mod! I'll have to try playing with ways to load the foam all I've done so far is just stick a piece in there... (with the VG) it seems to work great and doesn't leak. I haven't even tried the lptb method as I just started vaping a few weeks ago, this just seemed quicker and easier. I washed it just forgot to mention it in the video.

Thanks... yeah dont bother with the Lipton Pyramid Tea Bags.. unless you want leakage and have left over juice in the tb. Shredded was the best but obviously wont last as long as this and wont hold as much juice and is a pain to remove and clean and reinsert. Plus it gets brittle after a few days.

Since your new.. i'll recommend this thread for atty cleaning. Sattec's atty cleaning test thread

Its what i've been doing for weeks now and no probs! Works great and is easy enough. I rotate out a few attys a week. Use the clean ones and put the used ones in cleaning. Need it or not.. once a week to keep them runing at there max.

Thx phil! :) Glad you finally got a chance to try it out.

Making some progress with the BFP v2.0 The Slug.. hehe.

I've notice that keeping the length of the piece is important. The way i shown in the pics is no good as its too tall and the bridge just pushes in the plug. So, i pulled one out and did a quick snip by cutting it down to 3/4" long folded it and inserted it back in. I took the tweezers and with them closed, i inserted into the top in the middle between to 2 halfs. Then opened them up pushing the 2 halfs away making a nice hole for the bridge to fit inbetween.

I then dropped about 10 large drops of juice on top.. soaked in nice and slow which told me its good and sealed and should'nt leak... 10 drops was too much at the time as i prob had a drop or too left so i had to get the excess off first with paper towel.

Been puffing great ever since.. I have 2 cigs going.. one with both mods to see whats better.. i'm leaning to the new one but its early.

EDIT: Just topped them both off and have fresh batteries.. Buzzing pretty good going back and fourth between the 2. Both working pretty damn great actually. Slight gurgle with the first mod.. though could be my size of the slug i'm using atm. Its 1/4in wide x 7 16ths long. Could just need to be a hair wider to adjust for my thin juice.

Gona have to bug the wife for some trial size bottles of new thicker juice.. or sell my silverBullet to fund for a ton of new juice.. sucks as i just bought it 10 days ago and after trying it again 'Its damn nice". :(

Hello. This mod seems awesome and I just purchased some of the exact foam shown in the pictures last night at PetSmart for $7.00. I'm going to try it tonight and I will post my personal results when I have the time. Thanks for the great idea!

PS- Ordered some DIYFlavorshack PG in a few flavors. Will also leave my results with these, as well as the TW stock tobacco flavor I'm using now, and some Mist-Stix Vanilla.

I use the PTB mod and been quite happy with the results. I saw this post a couple of weeks ago and decided to try it out last night. So today, I went to petco and bought the marineland filters. I have to be honest, I've been getting pretty poor results. Mostly due to the atty flooding. I was mainly using the first version of the mod and now am switching to version 2. Hopefully I'll get better results. I noticed when dragging, I shouldn't drag so hard to get a hit or else the atty floods. Compared to the PTB were I must take long hard drags to get good results.

Right now, I'm using a 1/4 x 3/4 piece folded over. My battery is currently charging in my PPC, so I'll have to wait before I can post my results.

You may have the same prob i have with the first version.. i played around with it today and it leaked.. Then i tried a little wider piece. Leaked still. Then got carried away and tried it too wide and it was runing too lean.

What i found that works for me with my "thin" juice, is to put an extra layer on top ef the plug. A thin extra layer that i cut from another plug. What that does is make the brige touch the plug better and compress the plug more so it closes the holes tighter in the foam. NO LEAKAGE! Works great!

So great i just got done watching the World Series of Poker 2:30+ minutes final table and its still going! hehe.. Love it.

I tried that a few days ago with the extra layer and thought it was'nt nessisary as i should be making the plug a little larger to fix it but after doing this twice now and with that plug leaking before and great after.. i think its the fix for me.. till i get some thicker juice with vg in the mix. Seems that most are using thick juice and figure thats the whole damn difference.

After trying out Version 2 of "the slug" with a 1/4 x 3/4 foam piece. I have to say I am very satisfied with the results. No flooding with the atty and continuous vapor production. I have been vaping for about an hour now and when I pulled the cart off the atty, and looked to see how much juice I had left, the cart still was about halfway full.

One tip I have would be to push the plug down the cart about 2/16ths down. Doing so will allow the plug to have smaller holes which would prevent leakage and flooding. Also, since the atty bridge is not compressing the plug anymore, no juice will spill over into the atty.

Great work eclipse for the discovery!

I can vouch for the thicker juice, it works perfect. I'm using some High Voltage 555 from nhaler and when it goes dry, the cartridge is completely empty.

Also thanks for pointing out the cartridge alignment, I never knew that made a difference until reading this thread.

Please see my post before yours. When i add a thin layer of a plug ontop of the version 1 plug using the normal size plug, its working perfectly! No leakage! For me, its working like how everyone else is mentioning.

If you have thin juice, do the above with the first version plug!

What it does is compress the plug more by the bridge hitting the plug and narrowing the openings on the foam.

Be careful!! The green scrubbers usually have metal abrasive particles embedded in them. You're better off using the non-scratch scrubbers that don't have the abrasives added. They are often colored blue.

I don't see anything in my green scrubbers to suggest anything metal in them. I'm in Canada, so maybe mine are different.

Away..
I've seen this in the top of the thread list lately but was busy on a couple of projects to look. I've read it all.....interesting threads should be read to see how you get to what you jumped into.
Looks like it does work. I'll have to give this a shot. Been doing the PTB. To many small topoffs if not readjusted alot but works well.

Over cutting the size for the single layer will work if the sides are cut tapered. The widest part of the taper is thinner and will compress forming a good seal while leaving the middle virtually uncompressed.;)

As I read the thread all I could imagine is that the Slug is really a custom fitting edobit!
Basically a constant feed sponge type of unit. No reason it shouldn't work well.

Nice job and follow up.

great mod works like a champ, i have found that if you start with a new or clean 1/4 by 3/4 plug ,it just keeps on going,an going ,an going,an going.the foam has to breath to let fluid to the atty if new or clean you will get all that is there to get,so clean after 2 laps or cut a new one.510 and just puffing along thanks for the tip it does work!!!!!!!
