Feel like i've read people will change out the SS mesh after a month or more of use. Mine doesn't even get that dirty, only the coils. Still wicks as well as it did on day one.

I'm pretty certain it could be cleaned too. Soak in pga or vinegar over night with a hot water rinse after, I doubt much would be hanging on. Would require reoxidizing the wick though I'm sure.

Working in the confines of the VVN head has peaked my anger a few times, but it always gets worked out in the end if ya just keep fiddling with it.

This is what I was looking for by going the Vivi Nova tank way (low maintenance)! When I was doing research I wanted to either go with the Kanger T2 or Vivi Nova (found the switching head on the T3 to be too messy) but I can see how bottom feeding head can help constant wicking.

I think I am going to do some more research and see about using one of the true rebuild-able like the genesis types.

I use the vivi novas because they are such low maintence. I haven't had issues with them, I'd have ditched them by now if I did. I think for you it is the lower ohms your using. If they just don't work for you then maybe a different tank system, or RBAs.
Some-one recommended the Vamo - it's a good device. I use one. Variable voltage, and it has variable wattage if you want to use that. I use the 2.4 and 2.8 ohm heads with it. Don't need 1.8 ohms I find.
I'll post a link you can check if you're interested, it's $48 here:

One easy modification that I do to ALL my Vivi Nova heads to help wicking is to "fluff" the ends of the wicks. On the heads that have multiple wicks (the 1.8 and 2.4 ohm heads), I hold each individual wick between two fingers about 1.4" from the end, and un-twist the threads on each one. When I get them all un-twisted on the ends, I'll brush them over my finger lightly to fluff them out a little more. On the 2.8ohm head (which has a single, thicker wick) I do the same thing--un-twist and fluff it out but a little further up so more of it is fluffed.

This seems to go a LONG way to help with wicking, and makes them less likely to get burnt-tasting or have dry hits. You also don't need to wait so long between hits, as the fluffed wicks seem to absorb and wick up the juice quicker.

Also, you need to have pretty good airflow through the Vivi Nova, so it will hit hot and rough. I don't screw mine all the way down tight on my mod. I'll screw them in until they are JUST finger tight, and then back them out about 1/4 turn. That way they are still tight and don't wobble in the threads, but it increased the airflow a little and makes them vape a little cooler, and with better vapor production.

Also, I ALWAYS soak my heads in Everclear for a few hours when they are new, and do a dry burn before I ever use them. And when I clean the tank (every two refills or whenever I change flavors) I soak the heads for several hours in Everclear, and then let them air-dry overnight, and do a dry burn before re-installing them. I also put a drop or two of VG on the coils after each dry burn. That way if I'm not going to use them right away, they don't oxidize too much and seem to stay "fresher tasting". If I'm going to use the head right away, I find that a drop or two of VG on the coil helps get the new juice wicking into the coil faster. The first few vapes will taste a little light in flavor, but after the second or third hit, they vape like a champ--clean, full-flavored, and produce clouds of vapor.

Good luck, and keep experimenting. The Vivi Nova can be a VERY good tank if you fiddle with it a little bit.

Thanks Stereodreamer, I read that many months ago and forgot. Why not dry-burn when new?
There is a long thread here somewhere that talks about rebuilding the Vivi. In that thread some are using nr wire for the legs of the coils because of "burning" silicone/rubber...i forgot

I finally found my multimeter, the website I got my old riva 510 on said it was a 3.7v battery however, after testing, it shows a 4.2v on my battery and 4.5v on my passthrough (multimeter set to 10v):

Sadly my multimeter isn't precise enough to check very small resistance (only has x1k and x10, no x1 setting).

Some batteries come off the charger at 4.2v and then drop down to 3.7v. If that's any help. Try the batts on the multimeter after you've used them a bit - they should drop to 3.7v.

The rubber seal is the biggest problem for me. I recoiled a bunch of heads the other day and had one that was vaping great. Thought I had the perfect head for the next month. I was filling the room with clouds of vapor and loving the flavor output. Then about 10 mins into it got a burned rubber taste that wouldnt go away. Tore the head down and found a scorch line on the grommet. I havent been able to make a coil like that since.:( I wish they would switch that grommet material, I have burned several of them. Once burned they will always give off that taste no matter how you clean them.

Get some NR wire. I have silver, and I think nickle is the other option (though I'm not 100% on this right now).

I got mine from monsterslayer. The .999 sterling silver wire in 30-32awg.

I'm having an interesting time connecting the kanthal to the silver, but once i get em together it works great.
