will this effect e-cigs? i don't get it, i just tuned in! sorry.

This particular vote is on an amendment that would classify e-cigarettes, snus and other smoking alternatives differently than traditional tobacco products.

The main bill has yet to be voted on. It would grand regulatory authority to the FDA over e-cigarettes. We don't know how the FDA policy around them would develop, but the evidence strongly suggests that they'd throw a ban on them.

It's already over then.

Just means that the Burr amendment went down. As I understand it (and I could be wrong) there are a couple of other proposed amendments that address e-smoking as well. We'll have to wait and see if those are debated or if the Senate goes to a vote on the final bill.

It is frustrating in general. I understand the power thing but how annoying is it when someone votes party line verses what they really believe in. And, that goes for both parties. As a republican senator it must suck. 36 yeahs and 60 nays
Now dodd is back up asking to finish up on all other amendments. And they are all vying for when they can get a chance on the floor.

If only, shoulda, woulda, coulda... all defeatist phrases I know, but...

I do wish I would have gotten into ecigs prior to just a few weeks ago to have had the time to stockpile a bit. Money's tight, and very little of that has been able to be done.

Sigh...

Don't get too worked up yet. The bill hasn't passed, there are still amendments on the table and the president hasn't signed it into law yet. Furthermore, even if it gets signed into law there's no doubt that there will be legal challenges to the legislation. Don't jump to doom and gloom conclusions until we know what the final outcome is.
