Take it from an old truck driver - Nothing beats the Voice of Experience.
Whether it's a Career Trucker giving directions, or my 15 year old granddaughter explaining some newfangled gizmo, if you are going somewhere you've never been it's great to have a tour guide. That's why I started all this - so someone could explain TC to this old fart :thumb:

And for that start, I thank you.

I have made it through the first 300 so far. I actually do find it interesting since I was arms length from this one. The back and forth has been enlightening with regards to the various mindsets. Most everybody knows mine, its fun to just sit back and watch.

At the conclusion of the reading, I'd like your thoughts. Your thread on carcinogens was over my head and I popped in on occasion only to realize that I had not become any smarter.

Well the forums here have really taught me a lot!Got me from MTL devices that need store bought coils, to re-building those coils, to RTAs that could do DTL, and building my own coils, to DIY ejuice and SS316L which makes TC so much better, and bigger and better mods, though I do have to admit, I'm pretty much hooked on the Augvape Merlin Tanks and the Eleaf iStick Pico mods, for the majority of my vaping! 20-30W is pretty much my comfort zone!

Honestly, I am rather impressed. A group of vapors taught an "old fart" (respect intended, NOT disrespect) how to maneuver through the labyrinth of TC. With a few minor (& enjoyable) musical diversions (Yeah, give me some Blues), the thread kept on point and was quite effective.

The other thing I really learned from this thread is that TC is still too complicated for the masses. It shouldnt be this hard to learn or teach, after all some of us have grandmas we would like to see switch to vape. I know there are things being developed to make TC more user friendly, like Pod Mods with chips in the pod that tell the mod what temp range to run for that coil, and a variety of coils from tootle to cumulus cloudmakers will be available. It is close to plug and play. Alas they are probably a year or so from coming to market.

It really was an eye opener for me though. I am an electronics geek, and I do Industrial Temp Control for a living. So this tech was like a walk in the garden for me. I forget how foreign it can be to those not familiar with the core concepts.

I am sidestepping the particulars, opinions vary, at the end of the day PapawBrett landed in a good place, and he is happy! Mission accomplished!

I commend the folks that contributed, you all did a great job!

Respectfully.......
Mike

Be glad you're only 500 posts behind. By this weekend you'll be behind by another 500. Bunch of enablers around here.
Wait till they see the DNA250C, there are few surprises under the hood, especially for those running high mass coils.
(yeah, I am a DNA fanboy, I admit it)

Will there be a new Therion 166c?
I dont know about the Therion line (I dont have any inside info on them), but I would bet my next paycheck that there will be a plethora of new 2-cell, 3 cell, & 4 cell, models.

I am talking with a guy right now, and I think I have him talked into designing a 2-cell 250C using 21700 bats.

Wow Mike, you have friends high up in the vape places...:p
I earned a bunch of cred from all of those co-ops I ran here a few years back. I try to keep my hand in it now just so I dont go stale.

All the Eleaf iSticks for the last year or so have had pretty much plug and play for TC, Just choose the coil material NI, TI, or SS316, and you are ready to go after choosing your favorite temperature to vape at and starting Wattage for fast ramp up! Not hard if an Old Fart like me can do it!

Just speaking for myself ;
When I get a new RBA / RTA, standard 5 - 7 minutes in 91% Isopropyl followed by 5 -7 minutes hot water wash / Q-tips. Been wrapping coils for years, so not a problem. All together it took maybe 20 - 25 minutes to set up my Berserker RTA.
Then it took all of maybe two minutes to get the Eleaf Invoke where I wanted it. Granted, I had been playing with an Eleaf Pico for about a month, so I was somewhat familiar with their process. But the Invoke has a much larger display, easy to follow prompts, easy access buttons and directions that include walk-through diagrams.
I think @mikepetro is right, and some manufacturers may already be heading towards making it easier to get into TC Vaping. After all, they want to sell their mods.

Lucky...for noobs like me, getting settings right especially on a dna75 mod is like going back to university...so complicated and bordering on irritating!

It's about damn time. I haven't been on a shopping spree in months figuring nothing else was worth the bother of ordering when a 250c was on the horizon.

Well that and being in this hospital for so long. I don't think I can get vape mail here without drawing attention to my stealth activity.

It is only an incremental upgrade over the 75C unless you use large mass coils, then it is a huge upgrade. There are some new tweaks though, even for Kanthal users.

I lean towards stuff like dual fused claptons so the higher power is appreciated. It's funny that I use high mass coils in TC. In wattage mode I hate the slow ramp up, then the overhot vapor at the end of the draw and the slow cool down. If I'm in wattage mode I prefer a simple round, easy to heat up and quick to cool. Probably not a typical way of using TC but it works for me.

Let me guess, an easy way to set up a preheat and maybe even a user set power curve for Kanthal. That would be a really nice addition if kept simple.
