Just throwing this out there: im not doing anymore nectar Nanos. I forgot how much of a pain they are and even with all of the aggravation they still don't squonk half as well as the Micros. I will double down on my next order of micros. The nano and the micro both use the same top cap so the chamber is exactly the same the only difference is the clear blue section is 3mm wider which gives me twice as much room to transition the drain.

Sorry Sloth but I lost track of attys:lol: Of which atty do you speak? ;)
Manta :)

If anyone out there does not like their Manta, feel free to PM me :) on a fresh tongue this morning I've fallen completely in love, it is the best atty I own.

(insert quote from EZinTN -- I accidentally quoted Chowder instead)
Mine doesn't get hot at all at 2mm 8 wraps of 26g. I have a delrin tip on one but the other is SS (although I don't like it, on the prowl for a new one). Semi-chain vapin and it stays pretty cool.

I run about the same set up, except mine are 7 wrap, instead of 8. Mine don't get hot either. But I could see the Manta getting hot with bigger coils and chain vaping. That top cap is pretty thick, because of the reduced chamber. Once it gets warmed up, I imagine it retains the heat pretty well.

I think I may have finally hit my sweet spot with attys. Between Mantas, Vectors and Derringers, I really feel set...and they each have a place in my rotation although the D's probably not very often. To me, the Manta is...what I've always been looking for, really. Easy build, fantastic flavor without doing a fancy build. Easily the best flavor atty out of the three IMHO. Leak proof, except I've got some leaking from the 510 on the Woody underneath it, which will be solved by the right o-ring. (weird tho)

The Vector throws some serious flavor IMHO - wicked flavor - when it's built right. For me that means in the .3 range with plenty of surface area; my dual parallel 28gs work great. Nothin I have hits harder than the Vector. I hit it at .3 with 6 total holes most of the time and when I am stressed there is nothing like that. Man oh man. I friggin love the Vector :)

The Derringer is, IMO, in between the Vector and Manta flavor wise - really only a notch or 2 behind the Manta and a notch ahead of the Vector. But, with these other attys that don't ever leak, the D will most likely only see home use and only when I want to switch it up.

These attys are amazing and if not for Tom I'd have never known how good they are let alone be able to use them on my REOs. However...I currently own 4 REOs. 4 Derringers. 4 Vectors. 2 Mantas. I would rather have 4 Mantas, and 2 of each of the others. I guess I'm more of a flavor junky than I realized. Hitting Wakonda in a Manta is like "oh, there it is..." while still having decent airflow and a nice draw that satisfies my subohm lunghitting freakiness.

This morning it is official: The Manta has been thoroughly endorsed by the Sloth. You may now call me Mantasloth if you wish.

Someone a long time ago posted that I should've got one in the beginning and been "done with it."

Agreed... :)

Glad you like the Manta. For me, I didn't feel the love for the Vector. I have 5 Woodvils, which are currently sporting 4 Mantas and 1 Rogue. On my 4 metal Grands, I have 2 Nuppins and 2 Atomics (a dinosaur of an atty, but still a great flavor chucker). On the metal Reos, I just prefer the look of 18mm attys better. Also, they allow me to click the door up and down.

Definitely a learning curve with these Mantas. Been building mostly 3mm coils lately, that's a no go for chain vaping - which is mostly what I do - as it gets too hot. Got a couple of 2.5s on the other one, it's better but I'm still not feeling the love. I may want to trade one of these for a v1 Nuppin with brass afc in the near future...

Got a V1 copper and ss, let me know;)

The manta is a beast!! A few hits and the nicotine at 12 mg is almost too much lol.

12Mg!!
I was just telling my wife the same thing and I'm on 6mg, single coiled at .9Ω.. time to drop to 3mg.

Manta2 - "2" for a double dose of Manta Lovin'!!
Cheers

Happy to read Legend is on the mend. When you said the Stumpy was begging for a nickel build you were certainly right. Tossed a simple 0.12 3mm single ni200 build in it last night, slapped it on one of the Sunboxes and at 430 degrees and 30 watts it's kicking some serious azz. Tonight when I get home from work, thinking of tossing a dual 1 strand vert build at it.

You know I was going to get all adventurous and install a dual 1 strand build in the Stumpy, but it's hitting so good with the single 3mm that I'm going to hold off until the second unit arrives as I just can't bring myself to tear the current build out. Stumpy= Love at first pull...:)

Part of the issue for me with heat is that I'm a restrictive mtl chain vaper, so two holes open on each side is the airiest I'd go on the manta, and that's pushing it. I like lots of vapor, but I prefer density over volume. I know the sweet spot on one rda can really suck on another, so I'll continue to play with my builds on these Mantas for a while before I jump ship. Will probably keep one regardless because I'm a vape gear hoarder and I'm fixin' to purge most of my non-bf collection.
So far, the Derringer is my favorite atty. I passed on it before I started squonking because it looked like a leak machine for an over-dripper who's usually driving. That's also why I used to mostly single coil - only one air hole to leak from. I average around 1k miles a week driving at work (and my job isn't driving, lol) and a couple of hundred miles a week off work as well. Squonking changed that for sure, usually dual coil, rarely have any leak issues - I do tend to over squonk my Zenith, but not too bad. The Manta looked like it would be basically a leak-proof Magma, which would be fantastic. I'll keep trying.

Short story long - so I decided to try a 2mm dual on the Manta, but then I decided to spin up some tiger wire first, .9x1 ribbon x 26g, then at the last minute I decided to use 26g n80 instead of kanthal. I also forgot that I'd be lowering resistance going smaller. I did 10 wraps, was a pain to get to fit but it did. Came out to .3, so I kinda went the opposite direction I'd intended. It was a beast! I didn't try to restrict the afc cause it was chucking some heat, but the thermal dynamics gave me enough back pressure, still a bit loose for my taste but ok. Great flavor, plenty of volume, little light on the density, and wayyy too hot. So I snipped off one coil and it's doing well, .6 is a bit high for me, but the heat issue is gone. Was even able to throttle down to two holes and swap the delrin dt for a Z1 which looks good on her. It may turn out to be a single coil only atty for my taste in vaping, but she's doing good. I think twisted wire helps her shine too, gonna try a triple twisted 30g dual @ 2mm and see what that does.
