A big shout out to Tom. He is a great guy who makes those extra steps you look for in a respectable seller.

Keep up the good work ...

I second that. He is a man of honor and I don't use that term often these days.

Guys I try... But you guys actually make it easy.

Converted my first M-Atty today came out perfect. I was surprised that it wasn't made better however. For all that money and hype I would have thought he would have used bigger than a m2.5 for the center support as well as a post that was braced by the 510 like almost any other atty. IMO the Rogue clone is made better. Admittedly the fit and finish is flawless but I was expecting so much more from it. M2.5? Really? Put it this way: if I did a run of them I would keep one.... Bear in mind I own 6 Stumpys and will be holding back 2 NarDas.

Anyone that has had a problem with the current batch of mantas please let me know. I have sent JDTech a few very scathing emails and I belive I have beaten them into submission to do the right thing. Check your mantas for 2 things:
1. The post holes and set screws are threaded properly
2. Try all of the afc rings, install them, tighten them down and see if they work correctly.
I worked on one today that with the copper ring installed and cranked all the way down the afc ring just spun like a pin wheel. Days like today are the reason I don't have a storefront.

This picture sums it up:

Nuff said? Those 2 memes in mind I went at JDTech without my usual businesslike demeanor that I try to use when dealing with these companies, not today, I'm fed up! I do need to ascertain the extent of the issues however. If it sucks don't bite your tongue and accept, I will get it right. Btw the spinning ring was the last straw. I'm officially on the War path.

I have some theories about JDTech that I'll keep to myself. I have several Mantas in good working condition, and I love the design. But their handling of this most recent batch is beyond sad. It's a pity, because the Manta can be a great atty. But I'm done with JD Tech, as a company.

My two have been boxed up to send back to you for near 3 weeks, so I have no idea on the AFC's, only that the posts in both of them need to be reworked (if they can be). When they get to you can you check them out completely, or do I need to tear open the box, check the AFC's too and rebox them for shipping?

I see a Meme in the making here.
Having met the Big Fish, I wouldn't want to anger him! And I'm fearless.

The spinning afc is what I tried to explain before but it's on the first V1 I got from the second run. No matter what I did I couldn't get it tight enough to stay. Plus it had a ring of extra of a shaving around the bell. I don't change them, I finally just swapped one from my V2 on it and it's fine. My 2 Hybrids seem to be good and so are the screws

Guys, Gals, I was wondering what wire type and gauge you prefer the most. I have been using 28 ga kanthol which limits the number of wraps for .4-.5 ohm's, unless its a twisted dual coil. I like the inner diameter at 2.5 so I'm not fighting the wick (cotton).

Was thinking about getting a roll of 24 ga kanthol so I have more surface area (wraps), but I'm not quit sure how well this heats. I figured with seven-eight wraps there would be more surface to wick.

Perhaps I should try different wire. Anyone have experience with stainless?...Any help would be appreciated.

I have not YET tried it in a BF but I am really liking NiFe52/48, though exclusively for TC, now.

What appeals is that it behaves just like Kanthal A1, particularly dry-burn-ability.

In terms of resistance a 6-wrap single gets you to about 0.26-0.27, while 9 or 10-wraps gets you 'way up to' 0.5-0.6 ohms.

It will be my preferred wire once the CAM-R is released. Can you imagine?!

Want to hear your experience with it. You can order from Germany

Interesting, Jazz, thanks for the info. I'll order some.

Efficiency my boy...(lol im a 28 year old young un.) Take that 28 gauge and quad parallel it. Single coil, 4 wraps. 3.5ish mm diameter. Should be .26 ish depending on the legs.

Try it, prove me wrong. Parallel coils. They put out like no other.

Note for the regulated mods- needs about 3.5ish volts to shine - for VW thats in the 50 wattish range.

As always adjust to tastes

Additional note Kanthal works best for this build. For Nichome change to 3 strands and adjust wraps to your preferred resistance. And be careful pulsing, you will melt the wire fast.
