I knew a guy who dug up a grave and nicked the skull. He had it above the fire place for a while but it started to get to him. He ended up a bit mental, claiming he found a cloven hoof print on the carpet and all sorts of weird stuff. He ended up putting the skull back in the grave so he could get a decent nights sleep.
She’d be totally into that.

I can see how it would hard to buy presents for her. Maybe choose something from a hobby or interest she would like to get into, but hasn't done yet?
Yeah, there are non Halloween options. If one wants to get he a skull covered black something-or-other this is the only time of year to do it.

I had a manager once who was having a really hard time trying to get her husband a birthday gift. She finally wound up getting him a gift certificate for an introductory flight in a small airplane.

Back home I used to take trips in a glider. Glider pilots had to log a lot of hours each year to keep their license, including time with passengers. Tow pilots had to log hours lifting a glider. Guess there weren't enough paying passengers so one Saturday a month they would give free flights. Lot of fun.

And let me guess, he was afraid of heights.

Hey, my daughter isn’t crazy about heights or planes. So what did she want as a present? Skydiving lessons. You should have seen the look on her face when I said “really? you??”

I've always wanted to try that. I've heard it's quite peaceful.

That can be dangerous. To your wallet. Roughly 30 years ago my wife's cousin was dating a guy who had a Piper Cherokee. They came to visit us in from western PA one weekend and I asked the guy to give me a ride. Little did I know that he was a flight instructor. He put me in the left seat and two hours later, I was hooked. I bought myself a log book at right then and there and he recorded my first two hours in it. A year later I had a 50% share in a plane, and shortly thereafter, I got my private pilot's license.

I made a couple of these. It’s a free Ravelry pattern called Lost Souls. I’m sure you could get one on Etsy. There were a lot of folks in my crochet group making them.

Definitely give it a shot. It's peaceful and dreamy while you're up there. Most of the time. Once in a while the wind hits the wings at a certain angle or something and the skin on the wings starts flapping and making a lot of noise, especially during banking and landing. I loved it.

Maybe she was trying to conquer her fear of heights @Eskie ? I did that with mountain climbing but there is no way on this God's green earth you are going to get me near a small plane or a GLIDER or a hot air balloon.

God these are the stuff of my NIGHTMARES. Srsly. With mountain climbing you have something to hold onto.

Also excellent exercise as like, even with all the gear, you don't want to fall.. It usually is unpleasant.

I am also scared silly of heights. But I actually spent a lot of time in small planes years ago. I was depressed, and I figured hey if the plane falls out of the sky, all problems solved! To be clear, I was not flying the plane, was just a passenger. :D

Interesting. My wife is deathly afraid of heights, but never had a problem flying in my plane.

I guess she trusts me? :D

I did it, but I also had the pre-flight checklist, and double checked everything. And I made sure I knew what all the controls were, just in case I had to fly the plane. I wore my own headset, too. It was not as scary as I thought it would be, once I knew what was going on.

Oh it's not usually the pilot I am concerned about...

Although, to be fair I am an AVID freaking watcher of Air Disasters and they had a QUANTAS one that like, I would NEVER be afraid to fly Quantas.. They were like they had one of them NEW planes and one of the giant engines like caught fire. They were getting live printouts from their "support team" (I think this is a thing they have for all their planes) and the pilot was like, yes, we had to wait about 15 minutes for all the printouts of what was messed up so we were like, "Well we are just going to calmly keep flying over the ocean as we find out what we can and cannot do like, with the plane" and one of the co pilots went back to look at the exploding engine and a woman who could see it was all, "Are we going to die?" and the pilot (while staring at the exploding engine which was also like messing up OTHER functions was like,. "Oh no ma'am stay calm I am quite sure everything will be FINE."

So like 25 minutes later they like did this wide turn around and flew back to the airport, and landed. Uneventfully. Flying in or to OZ is not cheap but like, it is SO worth it.

LOL.

So yeah maybe she trusts you. I let my husband drive me places and that's dangerous too. He makes it feel EXTRAOURINARILY dangerous actually because he is a GREAT driver (when sober) but also extremely impatient and has good spatial awareness so he can do TERRIBLE things and he has NO care whatsoever for his passengers. I would pick him any day to drive me somewhere because he's really good.
