Some pics:

This is one of the two remaining buildings. The monks cut the stones, from a quarry on the property. To the right of the building, you will see a small part of a tan building. That's new library building. When it was built, they wanted it to blend in with the old monastery buildings, but it doesn't even come close. I call it the "eyesore".

We have a similar old Catholic priest monastery here where I live. The priests are gone now and it's been converted into an Inn/Restaurant.

It was built in 1894 I believe. We have a lot of old buildings like that including our courthouse and post office.

Since I'm here all alone I'll post some pics of the old Victorian buildings in my home town.

This is our courthouse.

I don't remember what this building was called but the lower level corner entry was a bar.

G'Mornin' Everyone!

Coffee's on me if you have a hankering for Chocolate Truffle flavor. Felt like treating myself this morning. :)

Awesome photos Jerry and Terry!!

It rained almost all night. At least, I think it did. I'll have to take a look at the rope to verify:

I've been socializing a bit too much and getting behind on things that need to be accomplished. Especially since my bud, Terry will be visiting soon! happydance.gif

So, this is just a flyby. Later All!

What a bunch of cool buildings in your town, Terry. Thanks for all the pics.

Looks like cool and windy here for a couple of days. Crossing my fingers that we don't go down to freezing. It'll be close tonight with a prediction of 37 degrees. We often go several degrees cooler than predicted.

Of course I way over did it yesterday and I have a house to clean today. I hope I survive this.

I got a small tree and a large forsythia moved yesterday. Yay! My plans for the backyard are starting to come together.

I'm considering bark for the entire backyard, basically where you would have a lawn. We are going to put up a cover to BBQ under that looks just like the horse stalls without the bars on the sides on the west side of the backyard. It will sit just behind the wind fence. We are thinking 10 feet by 20 feet. This is an economical way to get a covered area and will tie in with our Western look around here.

On the front side of the imagined covered area is our yellow locust tree which is small now but should reach as far as the covered area as it gets bigger. There are a couple of crabapple trees in the center of our bark lawn. Then a few planters with flowers and we are looking good. Of course, we have the berm filled with flowers and the pond. The west side has some shrubs and small trees. We also have some pine trees growing and they are going to create a wonderful forest look for us in the far west side of the berm.

I told Hubby I want to start completing this backyard this year. We have been here nine years on July 6th and it is time to have an area to hang out, relax and enjoy our little slice of paradise.

Good morning, early risers. Terry, there's some beautiful architecture in your hometown. I'll have to take a walk and get some of the houses here and in Ithaca to show everyone. The most interesting thing about this area (IMHO) is the Greek Revival architecture. Some of you saw an example when I posted that photo of the house at Miles Winery. Here it is again, since it's been a while.

Speaking of ghosts, this house is haunted. Here's some info for those who are curious. A haunting winery on Seneca Lake | Democrat and Chronicle | democratandchronicle.com

That looks good. Who wants to water and mow grass, when you can have trees? Much better for your water supply, too. Gotta be careful with the ecology out there. Once the tree roots get deep enough, you should be set to go.

Thanks Zero. I'm thinking I need to take some "before photos" over the weekend so I can see the changes for all time:)

I finally got the harness ordered and it looks like they are sending it out right away. Hope I like it. It is a great price and made of biothane.

Have a great day everyone. Lots to do and less time to do it!.

Good morning Papa. I've had some sad news. My paw paw who has been home with hospice care for the last two weeks had a light stroke last night. The hospice nurse started him on a morphine drip this morning. He is looking forward to seeing maw maw again and is ready to go. I would not be selfish enough to ask him to stay a moment longer here with me. Will you please just keep my family in your prayers.

What things? I told you not to sterilize your house for me. That included going to ANY trouble for my visit. :glare:

Let's see. She said goodbye so we won't see her again until...I'd say Tues. Any bets? :(

Terry, she must think that you are going there to inspect her house. A lived in house is much more comfortable than a showcase house.
