Today is finally hot enough that I turned on the air conditioning.
I went to the doctor this morning for a check-up after the pneumonia, and, as I thought it would, everything is now normal. Actually, my temperature was 2 degrees below, 96 point something or other, and I wonder if I have a normally lower than average temperature, since there have been times over the years that I felt feverish, took my temperature, and it was 98.6!
Then I tutored. I took the kids to the library today. It's Monday, so I read them a story, then had the girl write the plot, and the boy had to analyze the message of the story: Pride comes before a fall. I interpreted that for him and then had him write about how it related to the story, which was of Chanticleer, the rooster, who got so vain about the fox's flattery over his beautiful voice that, instead of running away, he stood and crowed for the fox, who caught him. But the rooster grew smart, and told the fox to taunt the people chasing him, and when he opened his mouth to do so, the rooster got away from his grip and flew to the safety of a tree. If the rooster hadn't been so taken in by the fox's flattery, he wouldn't have been caught, and if the fox hadn't listened to the rooster saying how clever he was, and how he should taunt his pursuers, he wouldn't have lost the rooster. I sort of mentally walked the boy through this analysis, but I'm hoping that soon he can come to those conclusions by himself.
We did the usual fill-in-the-blanks, and the girl had the him/her/it sheet and one about the past, present, and future tenses. She still doesn't have those details down, so I'll continue to give her sheets to do till it gets implanted in her brain. Having the kids write is really handy to see where they need work.
I tutored early today, because the kids don't have school, so I don't have to wait till they get home from school.
I won't tutor on Wednesday, since the boy and his grandmother are going to NYC to some sort of party.
