Sitting down, facing forward.
I'm making up for you today, Lizzie. Took care of Bo's breakfast, cooked him a cup of rice to help settle his tummy after all the antibiotics, did two loads of laundry, welded 25 NR-R-NR wire sets for coils for my CE3s, got a coat of polyurethane on some wood for handrails and posts for a project for a friend and, of course, had my own breakfast, cleaned up the kitchen and made the bed. This afternoon's festivities will be blanching and freezing green and wax beans, make lunch for tomorrow and setup for dinner tonight. If I have time I want to get a second coat on all those wood pieces and weld up some more wires for CE3s.

There's always lots to do, isn't there Roland?

I froze up a bunch of San Juan melon, watermelon and cantaloupes yesterday for smoothies this winter. I also managed to freeze 5 meals of green beans yesterday, as well. At least I am getting some green beans this year.

I lied about only doing the bathrooms:) I got a load of duff out of each of the pens and pulled some tumbleweeds. I found another rabbit in the garden so I am trapping that little goober. I need to pick stuff next.

You sound as busy as lizzie.

Do you have one of those wire zappers? If so, where did you get it?

I built my own wire zapper. Like most everything I do, it's overkill, complete with variable, constant, voltage, selectable capacitance, a volt meter, an ohm meter and it's AC powered. I do need to figure out a good way of storing the wire so it's easier to feed and build a pile of wires at a time.

Just finished lunch, gotta get hustling here....

Maybe you can build something like this
Solder-Mill-Easi-Glide-184x.jpg

except with multiple spools and exit holes, for all the different gauges of wire that you use. You can even rig little cutter blades on the exit holes, maybe guillotine style.

I used to have something similar for the different types of graphic tape that I used, when I did graphic prepress work.

The problem is that Kanthal has spring-like qualities, especially in 32 gauge or larger, and needs a "hold down" of some sort to prevent it from unspooling in a very unfriendly way. As far as a cutter goes, I weld, then measure with an ohm meter to get the exact resistance I want. My 2.4 ohm coils always come in at 2.3-2.5 with the large majority right on 2.4. Most people wind to a number of turns, I wind to exact resistance, the Mr. Monk showing again.

Here's one that's smaller. http://www.amazon.com/Plano-1084-Line-Spool-Box/dp/B00F0XYRE2/ref=pd_sim_sg_1?ie=UTF8&refRID=0ERHEEMJ5MVEEMRQ0PTP
I like the little rubber grommet things at the exit holes. But it might be a drag to rewind them, since it sounds like you'd have to pull out a longer length than you need, to do your alligator clip thing with the meter. But then, it would just be a matter of spinning the coil inside the case, so maybe not too bad. The rubber grommets would keep the wiggly ends in check though, and it would be easier to pull the length of wire out. :thumb:

Dang, Q. Another thing for me to buy now. :grr::laugh:
