Tapatalk worked but I miss my real computer.

We didn't get a new monitor since Hubby thought we would save money. Now he's taken the monitor apart so testing is over and we will be buying a new monitor. I might get us a nicer keyboard while I am at it.

OMG, How did I ever live without one of these?

Well, OK. I'm a vegetarian, but still.

Made steak fajitas for the boys out of cheapo London broil. Whacked the hell out of it with one of these, and wow - they said it was really tasty and tender, and it was really juicy when I sliced it up...I, on the other hand, ate beans, rice and the bell pepper garnish. :glare: and jalapeño poppers! :p

OK, what is it, and how does it work? I have a sort of textured mallet to pound meat. Is it some variation of that?

Too funny, Celt. Hubby said we should do some testing by hooking up to our old computer and such....then he takes it all apart and tells me there are no serviceable parts. Whatv can I say, he's a maintenance mechanic.

Yep, been there, done that. I just hate throwing things out until I'm absopositively sure they're dead.

 I've never heard of anybody putting it quite like that before.

It's 48 little ninjas that come down and attack your meat.

It's a spring loaded device with 48 skinny blades that you stab your meat with, effectively cutting connective tissue (stringy stuff) - gets deeper down than a mallet and doesn't squish it - more like a really sharp fork - or 12 really sharp forks coming down at the same time. Better than a fork though, cuz it actually slices through, instead of just punching little holes around the stringy stuff. Nifty. I like it. ;)

Why did you get the larger size instead of this? Jaccard Supertendermatic 16 Blade Tenderizer | Free Shipping I think the smaller size would be easier to clean, especially since I don't have a dishwasher. Someone in one of the Amazon reviews of the larger one said she wished she had gotten one with fewer blades. Someone else mentioned cleaning it with a nail brush.

How do you clean yours?

My Dad use to say that all the time but there was more. "Slicker than snot on a door knob". Eeeuuuuwww!

I love the ninjas description.

I would only clean mine in the dishwasher. Those little blades are like razor blades. I've cut myself just handling it. The smaller one would be easier to clean but the bigger one makes short work out of a large piece of meat.

Sitting down, facing forward.
I tried one of those "ninja" knife tenderizers and threw it out before the first piece of meat got tenderized. I guess I'm a little "harder" on things and those thin, very insubstantial blades, don't hold up too well if you're a little on the strong side, I guess. Then there's the problem of getting them back into the guide after cleaning the thing. Why they can't use round needle style blades instead of foil thick stuff beats the heck out of me, but then it might last and stop sales.

I tried the powdered graphite on the sky in my drawing and it worked slicker than.....well, you know. :?: The sky came out nice and smooth, not streaky like pencils and stumps. I could add some clouds but I don't think I will. There are many uses for this stuff. I watch a video of someone using it on a face to get gradual smooth tones. But this technique blew me away. "How to Draw Landscapes" - YouTube

We were suppose to get snow this weekend but so far we haven't even had any rain. Yesterday was beautiful. This morning it's very cloudy so we will probably get some more rain later this afternoon. :(

I have this one

and I've pounded the hell out of a thick piece of meat without bending any of the blades. You must be very, very strong.

Someone on the Amazon reviews said you have to do it on a soft surface or else you'll bend the blades. I wonder what they mean by a soft surface? A wooden cutting board as opposed to a stone countertop? A pillow as opposed to a cutting board?

A pillow. I just use a wood or plastic cutting board.

That's neat how he made the mountains and the shadows on them. I'm glad you like your graphite powder. Someone somewhere mentioned that when you sharpen your pencil by rubbing it on an emory board, save the flakes, since that's graphite powder. Would that be too much trouble for too little powder?

I woke up this morning to see it snowing, but it's stopped now. About an inch -- nothing special.

I got a 6 oz bottle of graphite powder and it will probably last me a lifetime so I don't really need to save the shavings from a pencil. I'm lazy so this bottle is just what I needed.

I'm going to try that method in the vid sometime down the road. It looks really intriguing.

I got the bigger one cuz it'll do its thing 3 times faster than the smaller one, and I didn't see the single-row one being any easier to clean. Plus, it was on sale. I've only used it once so far - I cleaned it by soaking then swishing it around in a tupperware container with dawn and bleach right after use (bleach kills anything within 10 minutes), then rinsed it out and shook it dry. I think the problem would be when the tines go in and retract all the way in, carrying some of the meat inside the handle, out of reach. My meat wasn't thick enough to do that this time around, but it comes apart pretty easily if I ever have to deep-clean. I keep several different brushes by the sink too (bottle brush, toothbrush, wire brush, etc.).

Round blades would just push their way around the stringy stuff, rather than actually cutting through them, like the flat blades do. That was the problem I had with the fork method, which never actually tenderized the meat nearly as much as this little doohickey does.
